Behind closed doors perhaps because it is a criminal case and an open hearing would hinder further later investigations?
When all is in the public domain?
Perhaps new details could emerge?
Perhaps withheld evidence?

All this stuff is either very strange or just normal practice in the fields of law

I must say though IMO i do wonder if the McCanns are being held to ransom/blackmailed and that might explain their *scripts* *not answering questions* etc etc

But maybe I'm buying into some conspiracy theories being thrown around

my point is that as GA was the lead investigator,one would assume he would have the inside track,and his book is taken from his experience on the case,so,if the macs win then his book is no more more than a work of fiction in the eyes of the law(and a libelous one at that) so the macs just turn round and say they were fitted up by this bloke.
Dont get me wrong,i want to see the smug look wiped clean off their faces as much as the next person,but as so much reliable info is supposed to be contained in the book,to have it ruled out as libelous and GA as a troublemaker would negate what is the crux of the case against them.
As much as i admire GA for his refusal to stand down in the face of the mighty mccann machine,i feel he is the last taboo as far as the macs are concerned,shut him up and no amount of drip drip of info will stop them short of photographs of them disposing of the body. They get to trouser £1.2m, GA gets to be skint,his book gets to be pulped and we get constantly reminded we were wrong because the courts say so.

I know it all sounds a little defeatist,but ive watched these two walk on water despite every effort to sink them,im really wondering where is next if they defeat GA,the one man who says he knows for sure they are telling the world a pack of porkies.
