I would not be too impressed if I were the Judge. I would be thinking that he's not really taking this Court case very seriously. And I would be more inclined to look sympathetically on the defender - in this case, Dr Amaral.

No, she must remain impartial, any comment from her like that will give the Mcs more ammo to slate the Portuguese legal system as well as the corrupt PJ. Keep it calm and fair, then bust the bastards.

Re: Sky Live Day 2 - 13/01/10
I agree with what others have said regarding them having no choice with this Court hearing.
Right from the outset they threatened person/persons who wrote anything contrary to their version of events. They made this threat because they have to reinforce to their own families/friends/colleagues that they are not guilty. They have to be seen to carry out this threat or their words are just meaningless and their nearest and dearest might get suspicious. They had money in the fund and could afford the best lawyers, so no risk they would fail.
They began with the newspapers who were an easy first option and following their success they believed this would silence others.
I think they were really taken by surprise that Mr Amaral not only asserted he would write a book, but actually went through with it and got it published. Again they had to be seen, by their families etc. to take action so as to save face. They dithered and dithered and it looked like they were waiting until Mr Amaral became rich. Then, when they could wait no longer, they had to go through with their threat of silencing him.
Now he has called their bluff in return.
I really hope Mr Amaral succeeds. If those people in high places are not convinced after all this, I don't know what else he can do.

Waiting outside the courtroom for the afternoon's proceedings to begin. Mr Amaral is here too, chatting on a mobile phone.

Thanks. Let's hope JP doesn't leave early again and that we hear new evidence. That would put a spanner in the McCanns' works. GA's lawyer did talk about new evidence earlier this week...Fingers crossed.

Re: Sky Live Day 2 - 13/01/10
Duarte: What does the title of the book (by Mr Amaral) mean?
Flores: The book is a thesis, not the absolute truth.
So the booked titled ' The Truth of the Lie' is infact a lie intself?....... because it is just a thesis? I would think the title is a deliberate attempt to deceive people into buying the book.

Agree with all the above, and cannot see how there can be anything but a positive outcome for Amaral... However, with Gerry returning home, I do wonder if he is going to consult the appalling Carter Ruck, in person, to get them to shoot some exocet missile at the court process... some bizarre technicality that none of us, even those with plenty of legal experience, have thought of. Let's hope he has merely run to avoid unscripted questioning.

I'm sure the pink one is not far away Oliver...I wonder how many are reading the headlines and thinking there's been a huge breakthrough in the case. this is what team McCann want to avoid be ceaslessly saying: 'There's nothing new'..and Brunty is doing it too.

In my opinion I don't even care much whether Amaral gets stopped from selling the book - nobody needs to buy it anyway now, what;s in it is now in every newspaper and has made headlines across the world! A more spectacular own goal the McCann's couldn't have scored !

We're expecting to hear from three witnesses involved in the publishing of the book this afternoon.
less than a minute ago from web
We're back in the courtroom, as are the legal teams, Mr Amaral and the McCanns. No sign of the judge yet though.

Just watched Martin Brunt on Sky saying McCanns have possibly been shocked by some of the reporting in the newspapers and also Sky.
So he's either been sent home by his legal team or he's up to something injuction wise. Hmmmm.....

Re: Sky Live Day 2 - 13/01/10
Thanks for that Ann.
Shocked.....What did the McCanns expect. I think they thought Amaral would never go to court as he had all his assets frozen.
Serves them bloody right.

Well, it's certainly backfired re not wanting the contents of Amaral's book making the UK!! Is this the press's revenge, having been gagged by Carter F

Exactly, and let's see how things work: the book was set into pdf format a long time ago, available to download on the Internet. No decision from Court will stop torrent files, whether they want it or not.

He's been banned, or asked for his account to be closed it would seem. Odd he would never answer my questions....
