They might take the stand if they allow pre-arranged questions. And McCanns to say which questions they will or will not answer.

There's a very short article today in Jornal de Notícias, in the section "Figure of the Day - McCann Couple". On that article it is said, this strategy to ban Amaral's book, was probably not the best in terms of keeping their credibility. They keep saying if the objective was to avoid the public opinion to read the version from Gonçalo Amaral, the media lights on this Trial will fustrate the McCann's goal (in terms of public opinion).

There's been far less that she's alive. Apart from a few kids been recovered in the past by abductors who knew the kids no child has been recovered alive.

I'm just amazed that the Mccanns didn't take this obvious knowledge into consideration before they ever started this debacle.

Flores: this case involves a question of freedom of speech.

Flores is an acquaintance of amaral's and wrote the preface to the sequel to his book about madeleine.

I am not sure they can dictate which questions they will and will not answer. they have to tell the truth otherwise it's perjury and if they refuse to answer any questions they will not be helping their case and may be forced to on pain of contempt of court .
I think they may well regret setting out on this path, I think they fully expected goncalo to roll over like the media did when he wanted them in cort so they would have to answer qiestions. they can't even hide behind arguido status

When G&K were in PT in December, Kate came across very vocal, totaly different body language now, imo she is in a anixious nervous state she is keeping a low profile, letting Gez do all the talking and unlikly to give evidence................loose cannon comes to mind!!!

Well as far as I can see it. We need to know. Did the police investigation conclude the same as the book. They are saying no it didn't. That is what this is all about. Not whether or not they are innocent or guilty. But whether the book concluded the same as the investigation. He is saying the investigation concluded they had nothing whatsoever to do with Madeleine's disappearance.

Gerry must be spitting blood, knowing his little ploy of getting money from the Public on the pretext of looking
for his daughter is dead in the water, whatever happens at this hearing. If Amaral wins this hearing, how can the McCanns still sue him?

They would say that, wouldn't they. The Mcanns were in no position to try to convince the police of anything given their suspect status. It just smacks of trying to deflect attention away from themselves.

I really look forward to the day these two have to stand up in court and give an account of themselves without first having hand picked the questions or without saying "the arguido status means we can't answer that question". And of course without the option of ripping off the microphone and flouncing out like a wimp!
