Yes, it was really important to wake the friends and relations in the middle of the night to tell them about those shutters!

AnnaEsse....doesn't it make you sick that they have never ever been uestioned in any of their interviews, the nearest was the Swedish one.

I don't think helicopters with heat-seeking equipment are exactly standard procedure in the UK either. Besides, it would not be at all useful in such circumstances.
Certainly not with masses of people beating the bushes to find the child.
I doubt whether the remark about the 'Royal Navy' ever happened. The Portugese do have a navy and the country has a long history of seafaring. Perhaps more so than the UK.

It's just one of those infuriating remarks from Gerry to make sure we know how backward the PJ is. If Gerry had half the brain of Amaral, he'd never be in the position he finds himself in at present.

I think with the runaround the Tapas Group gave them , the PJ should have INSISTED on a recon . There is just no excuse for this because the McCanns
did not leave Portugal until September and apparently the PJ had paid rental for 5a for one Year from July 2007.

being a medical doctor no longer means you are overall clever, or civilized, or knowledgeable about the world as it used to do. I'm not primarily thinking about the McCanns here, but of a recent experience I have had. I think it sometimes signifies overwheening ambition and a desire to earn a shedload of money, rather than any sense of vocation. In some cases I feel that a well-schooled chimpanzee can get 3As at A level, and that the chimp might well have more social skills and compassion than certain dumb, pig ignorant GPs.

Sounds like you`ve come up against some of the newbies they dish out of med school these days Comperenda. I went for 2 years getting nowhere with young locums and then a new young permanent one who were all disinterested and seemed to know even less than I did myself. In the end I changed to an older member of the team and he knew what was wrong straight away.

I thought it was very noticeable in he Swedish programme that while Gerry was quite laid back, Kate was very serious . Why, I don't know, the McCanns
got what they wanted , a Review of the case, her attempt at writing an Autobiography "for the Children" although we wouldn't have published it without some serious editing , has made a substantial profit and she says she is going to write a sequel. How come she is not looking very happy.?
