I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF THAT CASE WHERE METAL THIEF CAUSED AN ENTIRE TERRACE OF HOUSES TO BE DEMOLISHED,THOUGH THIS IS PROBABLY DIFFERENT.

On the 'live,' updates, there is info about a call concerning a smell of gas in the street, followed soon afterwards by another call about an explosion.

It just goes to show how really genuinely interested in the case they are! Also shows them up for not
giving a stuff about doing the most basic research! The police dogs are thought of highly not just in UK but in other countries too including USA, so good in fact FBI have used them. Police have said in general that the dogs are the one weapon that criminals really fear and police officers cannot sing their praises enough. The fact that GM, a professional person, has dismissed them in such a way says a lot, and shows him up to be a complete and utter fool! The Police will not be dismissing them so lightly!

There are sniffer dogs used worldwide, every single day for sniffing for explosives, drugs, dead people, live people, reptiles, currency etc, etc and yet the only times I've heard of sniffer dogs being called into question is TWICE, in Jersey children's home and the McCann case. Says it all!

You can train a dog to sniff to anything, even mobile phones! Look here....

I saw something on TV the other day, where a sniffer dog was being tested at an airport. A woman walked past at a distance, with some illegal drugs in her bag and the dog didn't hesitate, just made a dash for her, alerting to the presence of the drugs.

Oldham Explosion: Man Held After Boy's Death

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of a toddler in an explosion in Oldham.

The suspect was taken into custody following two-year-old Jamie Heaton's death in Shaw on Tuesday.

The child died after what was believed to be a gas blast ripped through three terraced houses and reduced them to rubble.

National Grid has confirmed the blast was not caused by a leak from one of its gas pipes and Greater Manchester Police have launched a "homicide investigation".

Jamie, who was killed while he watched television, was described by his family as "a happy, loving little boy... full of laughter".

Earlier, his relatives visited the destroyed buildings and laid flowers at the edge of the police cordon.

In a statement, the family said: "Jamie was a happy loving little boy - precious son to Michelle and Kenny and loving little brother to Jodie and Jack.

"Jamie's life was full of laughter. He loved going to pre-school, playing with sand and water and going to the park. He touched the hearts of all who knew him and will be missed by all."

His mother survived the carnage after she momentarily stepped into the yard to hang out washing to dry.

Her husband and two other children were not at home and were spared serious injury.

On Wednesday, detectives said they have "significant questions" for the boy's neighbour, Andrew Partington, who was seriously injured in the blast.

Mr Partington, 27, who is not related to the child, was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital with severe burns after the explosion, where police said he was "unconscious and sedated".

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Heywood, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "We've had information to suggest that it might not have been accidental, so we are treating it as a suspicious death and, therefore, a homicide investigation is being undertaken."

He said reports of a domestic argument on Monday night were being investigated.

Police say Mr Partington was alone in the house where the explosion happened.

ACC Heywood said: "Obviously, we want to speak to Mr Partington when he wakes up and he's currently got some colleagues with him from police."

Police confirmed another adult and five children lived in the house with Mr Partington but were "in another town" when the explosion happened.

The massive blast flattened number 11 Buckley Street, where Jamie lived, and Mr Partington's home at number nine. It is understood Mr Partington had only moved into the property around six weeks ago.

How awful. Nips outside for just a few minutes and the house gets blown up behind her.

Like everyone else, I can only imagine what it must have been like for Jamie's mother to witness this and then frantically search rubble for her baby. Marvellous how the perpetrators of these vile crimes, seem to survive, when innocent victims lose their lives.

I know these two men haven't been charged with any offences. However, if they are and they are successfully prosecuted, they won't get the sentence they deserve. They will be placed in a safe environment, within the prison to make sure no one causes them any harm. Then when they are released, they will be given a new identity and a home to live in.

The innocent victims who have lost their homes and possessions, will have to start all over again, without much help from the Government. There is money available in a fund that was set up after the Manchester bomb incident and another incident. However this isn't being distributed at the moment, so the public are going to have to donate money, clothing and furniture, which will help these poor people survive. Which is how it should be, everyone has to pull together at a time like this.

I don't live too far from Oldham and I've cleared my wardrobe of clothes that I never wear, either because they are too small or I just got fed up of them. The only reason I kept hold of them was, because I thought I might lose weight or I might want to wear them again. However those aren't good enough reasons for hanging on to this clothing, when someone who has lost all their possessions, could be wearing them.

I saw footage of children taking their toys, to the shelters for the children who have lost their homes to play with. It is these children, who shamed me into doing what I will do this afternoon.
