One child dies and another critical due to falling gatepost

A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy has lost his life and his brother, eight, is in a critical condition in hospital after a post fell on them whilst they were playing.

Witnesses say they saw three children playing near a chain barrier supported by two pillars next to a villa on an urbanisation in the outskirts of Torrent yesterday morning.

The post that fell was said to be loose after having been knocked by a lorry a few days previously.

After the third child, who was uninjured, raised the alarm, the eight-year-old boy was rushed to La Fe hospital where he is in a serious condition with injuries to the chest and knees.

His older brother was killed instantly in the accident.
