Cilla Black wants to die at 75 years old
It is reported in the Daily Snail online and presumably in the paper edition, that Cilla black wants to die when she gets to 75 as she thinks that this is a good time " to bow out". I would like to hear what she has to say about this when she gets to 74!!!!!!!

Hi Keela, It depends on your quality of life at 75, I would opt for euthanasia If I was suffering from an incurable illness and I think it"s a shame that people have to go to Switzerland for this. People are living longer and longer and the over 65"s are exceeding their three
score years and ten and the time will come when the Government does accept Euthanasia as long as the person is of sound mind and
able to communicate his/her wishes.

Re: Cilla Black wants to die at 75 years old
Voluntary Euthenasia in the case of untreatable and painful diseases is a good (if good is the right word) option. The worry is that such a course of 'treatment' is irreversible and would be used, despite assurances to the contrary, for other reasons....early inheritance springs to mind.
Another worry, in my opinion is it would require policing...who is going to perform such a task? Doctors? Do we really trust any of the GPs out there? We have several prime examples of the upright qualities of those who have taken the hippocratic oath here in the UK.
The Government? We would deserve to be euthanized if we chose to place any faith in the corrupt perverts and deviants that sit in parliament
I personally feel we should leave our individual future to Nature or in God's hands, unless you fully trust your GP or hospital consultant to help you on your way.
As for Cilla....She's had a good life, better than most of her generation....let her do as she likes. Me, I want to keep going to get as much of my National Insurance stoppages back as I can.

Malena, to live just to make sure you get the Treatment you paid for all those years is a bit Scrooge Like, wouldn"t you say?
There was talk a while ago of the Government adopting Euthanasia and the idea was that 2 Doctors unknown to the patient would meet with her/him
and discuss their illness and quality of life. Providing they agree that the Person"s quality of life would not get better and that the Patient was of
sound mind, they would agree to their wishes. If the person was making a Will and had substantial assets, two Solicitors, unknown to each other
would meet the patient and explain everything so that there would be no dispute with the Inheritors. I know it"s a tough decision to make but
weighing up the pros and cons if I did not have all my Faculties I would not want my life prolonged.

Seriously though, I believe the moment any government becomes involved in any facet of our daily life, that facet becomes tainted and control of it parses to the government. Given the opportunity they would be trawling the ranks of the elderly for selective not elective euthanasia. What criteria would they eventually use? Three strikes and your out... a visit from the likes of dear departed Dr Shipman... Unless of course the elderly person happens to be one of the bundles of fun laying on the benches in the House of Lords who have probably been dead for 5 years anyway and no one has noticed...

Re: Cilla Black wants to die at 75 years old
Malena,
Did you ever see a Film called Soylent Green with Edward G Robinson and Charlton Heston? It was very futuristic and CH was a Policeman trying to
maintain Law and Order in a Metropolis of bricks and Mortar, the Earth had suffered seismic changes and there were no trees, flowers grass etc.
Anyway EGR is fed up with living and there is a Euthansia Clinic which will help you on your way. He keeps on telling CH that this is what he wants
but CH wants none of it. One day, while CH is at work , EG goes to the clinic and says he wants to die, the Clinic is all white in pristine condition and the Staff warm and friendly. He is asked if there is something he would like to see on this huge T.V. and opts for a pastoral scene. The video shows a blue sky, green grass fields and flowers and the Sun. The music is Beethoven"s Pastoral Symphony and as EG watches the changing scenery the tears roll
down his cheeks as he remembers times gone by, I was crying too.!!! Anyway, they take him into the Theatre and give him a lethal injection. In the meantime CH comes home sees his Father gone and rushes to the Clinic to stop him but he is too late. CH asks where his Father"s body is and is told it had been disposed of, which prompts him to try to find out what happened, He goes undergound in the Clinic, discovers a conveyor belt leading to
a"mixer" and out comes little green pellets , the "food" everyone eats and realises it is made from dead people.

No, I can't remember seeing that, I'll watch out for it on TV though, it sounds to be an old film with Edward G in it. I used to like his films, especially the gangster movies and Charlton Heston always rook a good part.
As the old saying goes, "Fact follows where fiction leads," we'll probably be seeing this plot in the next New Labour manifesto, they have a good green policy and a multi organ recycling policy would be right up their street .....

I dont believe the human body is 'designed' to last much longer than 70 years actually, after which time it becomes a painfull liability for most people, and often a burden to their offspring. There are exceptions offcourse, but generally old things become expensive to maintain in any kind of economic form.

I would go along with that Lioned and the fact that people are living well beyond their three score years and ten is a big burden on the economy and
the working population. What"s the answer though?

Re: Cilla Black wants to die at 75 years old
Hmmmm this is interesting.
I have recently been to a talk by a raw food expert who is fanatical about longevity. He maintains that the human genome being constructed the way it is, under the right conditions, we humans can live (healthily) until 110, quite easily. The right conditions include a good diet, which means raw food with maximum electrical charge - no killing off of nutritional value by cooking. Some important supplements. And not ingesting harmful substances. Harmful substances can be where we least expect them to be. For example bootled water in plastic will have elements of that plastic which has leached into it. Filtered water or natural spring water is therefore the safest. When you have a shower, if you're using unfiltered water, your body can absorb loads of nasties, over a lifetime. eg the contraceptive pill. eg metal.
The other thing which ages you is attitude. So, if you're conditioned to think that 70 is so old and that you really should be dead by then, then because the subconscious works in mysterious ways, you have hardwired yourself to feel old and to be old. Erm I was working recently with a man who is nearly 70. I was surprised by his youthfulness. He does take care of himself and has always done yoga and meditation, and he has a holiday home in Fla, so has many advantages. He is involved in new research, and I personally beiieve that his attitude is one of the most important factors in keeping him young. His research keeps him looking forward, it keeps him interested i the future. So many old people get into the trap of thinking that everything was so mcuh better 50 years ago, and things are really scary now. That mentality agest people drastically, I'm sure of it.

Re: Cilla Black wants to die at 75 years old
Hi Wallflower,
It has recently been confirmed that Britain has the worst Obesity rate in Europe, not surprising with the rubbish Food around and prepacked. I
enjoy cooking and eat generally healthy food, but Chocolate and cakes are my downfall. I put on a lot of weight and decided drastic action was required,
cut out the sweet stuff, luckily that is all I needed to do to lose half a stone so if I carry on like this I will soon get down to my normal weight. Regarding
the elderly, economically with the additional Nursing Homes, NHS operations, Prescription items etc they are a drain on the Economy. the Days are
gone when every home had a Gran or Grandad living with the Family, more often than not they end up in a Nursing or Residential Home. Having seen
my Mother deteriorate from a bright, funny , fit person to a non functioning victim of alzheimers disease I would have no regrets if diagnosed with this
terrible disease to opting for euthanasia if I developed an incurable painful illness or Alzheimers.

That"s why I think it is important to make a living Will, I opted a few years ago to donate my body to Science, if I die more than 50 miles away from the
University Hospital though, or in an accident where every bone in my body is broken, it will not be accepted. The lady next Door to me ended up in a Nursing home because she could hardly walk and look after herself. I went to visit her about a month later and she was in a room with people who were
hardly compus mentis, I don"t mean that in a nasty way, the T.V. was too high up on a shelf for her to hear what was going on and no remote to
change channels or the audio.......it was disgusting!!! As a result she looked like a zombie after only a few weeks. On that happy note, I"m going to
settle down to a nice roast chicken dinner.

Hi buildersbum, Our Cilla gorra a lorra lorra gob to actually give a date for her demise. Having said that, it is up to the individual . If they are enjoying life and have all their faculties they probably would not even think of death. However, if they are in terrible pain, have a debilitating illness which makes
them dependent on others then they should have the choice to end their suffering. The very first line of a Book I read many years ago by Bryan Forbes
ssaid "Grief is a form of self-pity" which when you think about it is right.

Cilla should do exactly what she feels is right for her but to burden the rest of the world with her problems is not fair on the rest of us who are struggling to exist on what the likes of her spend on a night out.
As I said on a previous post she's had a better life than most of her contemporaries who have to battle on no matter what.

There is absolutely no doubt that the 'privileged' and the wealthy have it in them to live longer. No doubt also that under very strict or lucky circumstances a human body can survive into the 100's and maybe on very rare occasions to maybe 110.
But,as i have said previously, the structure of the human form and those vital organs can probably only survive the usual traumours of life for about 70 years before wearing out and proving troublesome.
