Sir Stanley Matthews, one of the worlds greatest players only ever earned about £2500 a year wearing what would be classed as diving boots nowadays and kicked a ball that probably weighed about 2lb or more when wet. The laughable poncey actors, the so called 'celeb' stars of today wouldn't have lasted 2 mins playing the real, 'man's' game of football.

I watch Wales playing Rugby although I don't know a maul from a ruck It is a rough tough game , broken bones common. That old saying "Rugby is a game for hooligans played by Gentlemen and Football is a game for Gentlemen played by Hooligans. I fear Football will be reduced to the Premier League and a couple of depleted divisions because of the economic state Britain is in and the cost of matches.

That might be a good thing, Panda. Poor attendances will mean less income for the 'Entrepreneurs' who will perhaps pull out when the returns for their investment drops.

Rugby will finish up going the same way as soccer, when big money advertising gets involved and dictates the agenda.

Let's hope the takeover doesn't result in what happened to Cardiff. the Club was taken over by a Chinese guy who first of all ordered the Team to wear Red shirts because that was the colour of China , notwithstanding that Cardiff City was called the Cardiff Blues because of their shirts. Now he wants a Dragon on the shirt and for Cardiff to be known as the Cardiff Dragons.!!!!!

It is strange to see Cardiff play in red. Really shows everything is about money. No respect or care for histories and loyalties

jd16 the problem is he who pays the Piper calls the tune and now Cardiff are doing well, someone will come along and snap up their best players, Hale is a prime example.!! BTW I saw that goal he scored.....unbelievable.

Was a nail biter towards the end. Arsenal played well though, and we were holding on in the end but a win is all that matters right now
