Now does anyone doubt the Scotland Yard investigation into Maddies disappearance....
will be a whitewash?
They seem to be getting to the bottom of this phone hacking scandal - even though it invovles police officers taking money from journalists. No cover up even though you are already a policeman.....
Go Scotland Yard!

Was there ever a time when Clarrie and the McCanns didn't jump on a bandwagon?
The usual distraction and a chance to play victim once again.
This hacking saga won't change the fact that the SY/PJ collaborative review is still going on quietly in the background.
I won't believe that it's a whitewash until someone provides evidence which says that it is.

Neither am I. However I did think 'hmm what is this really about' way back in January 2011 regarding this:
Mitchell, who recently revealed that someone attempted to access information about his own mobile phone account and voicemail, stressed there was no evidence yet to suggest Kate and Gerry had been targetted.
He said: "Gerry has seen his records and there is nothing untoward on his account. An initial assessment of Kate's account also shows nothing untoward, but we are re-examining the records to be sure.
"Yes, of course, we have concerns. We would be foolish if we didn't think that they were of interest.
"But Kate and Gerry have bigger things to worry about and they consider this to be a bit of a distraction from the search to find their daughter."
Mitchell became the family's point of contact for the media after three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from the holiday apartment where her family was staying in Portugal in May 2007.
Mitchell said Vodafone had warned him about two attempts to access his account. He added: "That appears to me to be a blatant attempt to get information.
"I am going to make a formal complaint to the police.
"I have no idea who made these calls but given it was at the height of the Madeleine story with some papers running front page news on it every day, I can only assume it was a journalist."

The Conservative Party To Recruit McCann Spokesperson As Head Of Media Monitoring
"Since September 2008 Mitchell has balanced his role as spokesman for the McCanns and the parents of murdered teenager Jimmy Mizen, with a crisis management role at Freud Communications.
Mitchell is known to be close to Coulson, who was a former editor of News of the World. Late last year Mitchell expressed an interest in standing as a Conservative MP. He began his career as a reporter on the Hendon and Finchley Times in 1982. Since then he has worked for The Sunday Express, BBC Radio Sheffield and as a correspondent and presenter on BBC TV News."

"Clarence Mitchell, Kate and Gerry McCann's spokesman, has joined PR and marketing agency Freud Communications."
"He was also a journalist for 25 years, starting out in print and then as a broadcaster with the BBC, covering a variety of stories including the Fred and Rose West murders and Soham. As a royal correspondent he covered the death of Princess Diana."

Rebekah Brooks: the calm before the Snow storm
More details are emerging about the garden party thrown by Matthew Freud and Elisabeth Murdoch in Oxfordshire last weekend, where guests included Rebekah Brooks, Alan Yentob and film director Tim Burton. It turns out BBC business editor Robert Peston, who is close to News International general manager Will Lewis, was also at the bash, resplendent in a peach cotton scarf. He was huddled together with Brooks, Lewis and James Murdoch for a good part of the evening, according to an eyewitness.

Re: Now does anyone doubt the Scotland Yard investigation into Maddies disappearance....
My own feelings are that SY could turn up photographic and forensic proof that the McCanns were 100% complicit in Madeleine's disappearance and we would never be told. I believe they are just going through the motions so the whole sorry case can be put to bed and the likes of Cameron can say the matter has been thoroughly investigated by the police forces of two countries.
Brown said that the facts of Madeleine's case, if brought into the public domain could affect national security. That was Brown's excuse and if Cameron has indeed said the findings would not be released, he will probably be citing security reasons also. I cannot see how a 3 year old child's disappearance during a family holiday can possibly interfere with the security of this country or Portugal's for that matter.....My own personal belief in a conspiracy theory for the smokescreen surrounding Madeleine's disappearance seems ever more plausible.

Re: Now does anyone doubt the Scotland Yard investigation into Maddies disappearance....
I would like to believe that it won't be a whitewash but..... well it doesn't bode well when corruption within the Met is exposed, even if it's only cash for information.
I too will relish "eating my written words" if it proves anything but.
I still remember that sinking feeling when I saw the photo's of the McCanns in Amsterdam which they withdrew and how relaxed they looked during the interview. They did look very pleased with themselves.
Yes, who will the Report be sent to - does anyone know. Or will it just disappear into the ether.

Re: Now does anyone doubt the Scotland Yard investigation into Maddies disappearance....
It is a Cameron cop out,and i doubt there is any desire at Westminster or Scotland Yard to persue the mccanns,i dont expect anything to come of it,hope i'm wrong, but there it is.Scotland Yard looks like a corrupt edifice if the NoTW and hacking stuff is to be believed.
Leicester Constabulary was riddled with corruption, incompetence and porn and then the Boss got an award. No reason to think Scotland Yard is any different nor that they will put any energy into 'the review'.Dont think for one minute that Dixon of Dock Green or Gene Hunt are anything like the real life Investigators who will be much happier downing a few glasses of Vihno do Douro with their new found collegues than wading through volumes of spotty man sightings.
The script is already written i suspect.

Re: Now does anyone doubt the Scotland Yard investigation into Maddies disappearance....
What about this tho?
Gonçalo Amaral defends reopening of the Maddie Case
Voiceover: “Information that Scotland Yard will be reviewing all the information the Maddie case caught Gonçalo Amaral halfway between Spain and Portugal. Upon his return to the Algarve, the former investigation coordinator, who was removed from the case in October 2007 by the heads of the PJ, says that the involvement of the Metropolitan Police is good news because although the process was shelved, there is still a lot to be investigated.”
GA: “They (SY) should read the report, all the reports, by the private detectives working for the McCanns, for many reasons – to discover what clues they contain, and what type of information, and to find out what they have been doing because they have been using up a fund of millions of pounds for four years [ didn't quite understand, not sure if he says the word “defrauded” ] from taxpayers and many of the people who believed in this fund”
Voiceover: “Gonçalo Amaral hopes that the British authorities won’t be restricted to just analysing the sightings which are in the file, but that they will also concentrate on, for example, what happened to Maddie’s blanket, and that they formally and finally open a case in the UK, since up until now all they have done is to collaborate with the Portuguese investigation”
GA: “This case is registered in England, namely by the British authorities, as a mere disappearance, not as a child abduction, and the issue here is that we are looking at either a false allegation of abduction or an actual abduction, that’s the big question and that’s what needs to be clarified, via an in-depth review of what has been done and by doing what hasn’t yet been done, namely … and using all the information, whether it’s from the private detectives or all the sightings which later occurred, but based on the process.”
Voiceover: “Amaral says that if the help of Scotland Yard serves to reopen the case in Portugal, the first thing which should be done is the reconstruction of the night of the disappearance, to which Kate and Gerry never agreed. The British authorities’ desire to once again focus on the case came from the British PM himself, and happened the day after Kate launched a book in which she doesn’t hold back from criticising the Portuguese investigation. The book will shortly have another one vying for attention. Gonçalo Amaral has already finished writing his second book about the case.”
Snr Amaral does seem to dwell on the blanket ?

No whitewash, this is the real thing, the McCann's have hidden long enough, the truth will out.
No way are SY going to play pretendy cops and nothing happened, the evidence is there, they will see it.

I think the blanket is important though. I cant understand how it is missing.
Think anout it..it was your childs other comforter, along with cuddlecat. If my child had vanished, i wouldn't have let it out of my sight. You would have to physically prise it from me. My childs scent would be all over it.
I wonder what Amaral thinks about this blanket and what clues it may hold

Wasnt it on her bed the night she "disappeared" though.
I might be wrong, but was it also used for the first dogs to pick up her scent?

kitti,
IIRC Dr GA has mentioned (can't remember where I read it) that fibres were collected from the boot of the vehicle. Hmm wonder if it could be same fibres as the alleged missing blanket?

Sadly I think you're right and so do the McCanns. They have an aura of confidence about them these days and can spout total lies and even write a book full and absolutely nothing is done to pull them up on it. The happy smiley people photo that got whooshed because it didn't fit the grieving parents image says it all to me.
