..A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a four-year-old girl was found dead in a house in Moss Side.

The 31-year-old was arrested after staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary contacted police on Thursday night.

A woman had come into the hospital and expressed concerns about the welfare of a young girl.

Officers then went to a house in Moss Side, a notorious area of Manchester, where they found the child's body.

Inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the death have been launched.

I saw this on sky news this morning.....first off all they said it was a man, then they said it was a boy now their saying it's a women and a little girl.

Woman Held Over Four-Year-Old Girl's Death

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a four-year-old girl was found dead in a house in Moss Side.

The girl's body was found in a house on Garthorne Close in Moss Side

The 31-year-old was arrested after staff at Manchester Royal Infirmary contacted police on Thursday night.

She had come into the hospital and expressed concerns about the welfare of a young girl.

Officers then went to the two-storey council house in Moss Side, a notorious area of Manchester, where they discovered the child's body.

It is understood there are no obvious signs of injury to the child. A post-mortem examination will now take place to establish cause of death.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police have launched a murder inquiry after the death of a four-year-old girl.

"Police were contacted by staff at the Manchester Royal Infirmary after a woman came into the hospital and expressed concerns about the welfare of a four-year-old girl.

"Officers then attended at a house on Garthorne Close in Moss Side and found a four-year-old girl deceased.

"Inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

"A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning."

..A mother has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old daughter in their Manchester home.

Chantelle Blake, 31, attended Manchester Royal Infirmary and "expressed concerns" about Kiaya on Thursday.

Staff contacted police, who went to a house in Garthorne Close, about two miles from the hospital and discovered the girl's body.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said a post-mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of death at this time is "unascertained".

Further testing is being done while police continue to try and trace relatives of the mother and daughter.
