TRIAL OF VINCENT TABAK BEGINS 4/10/11
I did try to find the original thread, but couldn"t.
Vincent
Tabak stands accused of the murder of 25 year-old Joanna Yeates.
Joanna
Clare "Jo" Yeates (died December 2010) was a 25-year-old landscape architect
from Hampshire, England, who went missing on 17 December
2010 in Bristol after an evening out
with work colleagues. Her body was subsequently discovered on 25 December 2010
in Failand, North Somerset;
post-mortem analysis determined that she had died from strangulation.
The
murder inquiry, named "Operation Braid", became one of the largest police
investigations in the Bristol area. The case dominated news coverage in the United Kingdom as Yeates'
family reached out through social network
services and press conferences for assistance from the public.Rewards
totalling £60,000 were offered for information leading to those responsible for
Yeates' death.
Vincent
Tabak, a 32-year-old Dutch
engineer and neighbour of Yeates, was arrested on 20 January 2011, following
media attention over the filming of a re-enactment of her disappearance for the
BBC's crime programme, Crimewatch. After two
days of questioning, he was charged on 22 January 2011 with Yeates' murder.
On
5 May 2011, Tabak, now aged 33, pleaded guilty to Yeates's manslaughter, but denied
murdering her.Trial date for Tabak has been set for 4 October 2011. On 20
September he appeared at Bristol Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing, attending
in person having previously appeared from prison via videolink.
The Joanna Yeates murder trial begins today.

Thank you Panda.
This should be a very interesting case. I was completely amazed as I thought this guy was innocent. Well it just goes to show cool, calm and intelligent means nothing when it comes to a murder case.
Lets hope justice is done for Jo and her family.

Yes krisy, it shocked me too when Tabak was arrested......how could he act normal over the Christmas Holiday with his girlfriends home, then New year
with his Family.
BTW, I was really p***ed off that the McCanns had to get in on the act in the Knox Twitter.......is there no end to their crass behaviour.?

I think I don't get that because I use Firefox, which comes with Adblock Plus thrown in. Adblock stops popups.

Re: TRIAL OF VINCENT TABAK BEGINS 4/10/11
Vincent Tabak trial due to start today .Tuesday, October 04, 2011 Bath Chronicle
Follow. One of the most talked about trials the west has ever seen is due to start today.
Bath architectural engineer Vincent Tabak stands accused of murdering his Bristol neighbour, 25-year-old Joanna Yeates.
Vincent Tabak
.Landscape architect Miss Yeates went missing last December 17, after drinks with work colleagues.
As the search for Miss Yeates, and the subsequent hunt for her killer gathered pace, the investigation by Avon and Somerset police was under the spotlight with around-the-clock coverage.
Bristol Crown Court has been forced to make extra provisions, costing thousands of pounds, to ensure press and public can hear every moment of the trial.
While Miss Yeates’ and Dutchman Tabak’s families will be seated in the public gallery, a second public gallery above the court will be home to a dozen journalists.
TV links have also been set up so as many as 40 more reporters will be able to cover proceedings from an annex elsewhere in the building.
Tabak, 33, who works for Lower Bristol Road firm Buro Happold, has admitted the manslaughter of Miss Yeates, but denies her murder between December 16 and December 19 last year.
Miss Yeates’ body was found on a verge off Longwood Lane, Failand, on Christmas morning.
Legal argument is expected to take up much of today , with the jury being sworn in tomorrow.
On Thursday, Nigel Lickley QC is likely to present his opening speech, outlining the main aspects of the prosecution’s case against Tabak.
Friday has been earmarked for a day of site visits, when High Court judge, Mr Justice Field, and the jury will retrace Miss Yeates’ movements on the night she went missing.
After drinks at the Bristol Ram on Park Street, on her way home to Canynge Road, she stopped off at Waitrose on the Triangle, before walking up to Clifton Village.
She visited Bargain Booze and Tesco Express before heading back to the flat she shared with her boyfriend Greg Reardon.
The site visit is expected to take in all of these places before the jury may be given the opportunity to see the inside of both Miss Yeates’ and Tabak’s adjoining flat, both on the ground floor of number 44.
The evidence shown to the jury will also include digital presentations and timelines.
The trial is expected to last up to four weeks.
The maximum sentence for both murder and manslaughter – which he has already admitted – is life imprisonment.

The trial of a Dutch engineer accused of murdering landscape architect Jo Yeates has got under way.
Her neighbour, Vincent Tabak, 33, admits the manslaughter of

murdering her.
Miss Yeates, 25, from Ampfield, Hampshire, disappeared on 17 December after going for drinks with colleagues in Bristol.
The trial, at Bristol Crown Court, is expected to last for four weeks.
The first two days are expected to be taken up with jury selection before prosecutors open their case against Tabak.
Miss Yeates was reported missing by her boyfriend Greg Reardon on 19 December.

Facebook has been caught telling porkies by an Australian technologist whose revelations that the site tracks its 800 million users even when they are logged out have embroiled Facebook in a global public policy – and legal – nightmare.
Facebook’s assurances that “we have no interest in tracking people” have been laid bare by a new Facebook patent, dated this month, that describes a method “for tracking information about the activities of users of a social networking system while on another domain”.
Nik Cubrilovic’s blog post, which revealed that tracking cookies monitor Facebook users whenever they surf websites with a Facebook ‘like’ button, has led to political outrage in the US and Europe.
