Good morning Badboy.
That could make very alarming reading for Assad. However I doubt if he needs worry too much. I have no doubt his exit strategy is in place. The Russians seem to be helping him a lot. A nice little Dacha in the suburbs of Moskva perhaps?
It's the rest of us need to worry.

Good morning badboy
I think King Abdullah is being a little too pessimistic. Oh not for the threat these terrorists pose to us, but the timescale. I feel it will take a little longer than that and be largely down to our security forces, as to how many terror plots are realised. I have no doubt, that plots are being hatched even now and for the matter of that have been for some time. Our security are doing and have been doing a magnificent job.
To have raised the threat level to severe, the government must have some intelligence that something is in the offing. Nothing specific they say, but then I wouldn't expect them to tell us about specifics anyway. That would only cause panic.
There won't be anything like the scenario we see in the Middle East with towns and cities being captured. although I have to agree with King Abdullah that the area under terrorist control will expand. During the two gulf wars we had vast superiority in terms of men and equipment. We also had the unlimited use of Saudi facilities. That inevitably demoralised the Iraqi's which of course it was supposed to do. The result was never in any doubt. I think the Kurds have shown their courage under fire, and the Iraqi forces appear to be resurgent. The terrorist groups have unfortunately shown their willingness to fight. There are some who believe the Arab forces are unable and/or unfit to fight. I think myself that is far too simplistic and uninformed a view. If they have a sufficient reason, and have the men and equipment, they will fight.

I'm not surprised and I don't blame them. That will be at least two terror groups on the Golan Heights. Whether they can come together or not is another story of course because they fight among themselves as much if not more so than they fight against what they call the enemy. If active hostilities do begin,, the IS and al Nusra brigade will for the first time come up against disciplined and trained troops. Troops who are fighting for the very survival of their country. Losing a battle for Israel is not an option.
Of course Israel is armed with the most modern means of dealing death we have so far managed to devise. I'm not talking about nuclear weapons although they have them as well. That is possibly an example of putting their money where needed rather than wanted and without the corruption that almost inevitably goes elsewhere.
Almost all of those who specialise in the Middle East agree that it is only a matter of time before they attack Israel. Daniel Pipes, the Middle East forum and the Gatestone Institute. I wonder how long it will be after active fighting starts before the so called intelligentsia and the apologists not to mention the UN will blame Israel for it all. Israel is the only country in the Middle East with a democratic form of government. they have demonstrated time after time that they only want peace. they re even now helping to rebuild the Gaza strip. what the hell have they ever done to make people take the attitude towards them that they do? apart from suffer for over 2,000 years without a home and been harried and tormented into the bargain that is.

Most of them are Jews. That is the short answer. I have personally been asked how many Palestinian babies I have killed. I can't even kill a spider in the bath.

Me neither Iris I hate the damned things. The British varieties are harmless I know that but still. It is hamas who has the blood of all those babies on their hands no one else.
