You've got to pity anyone who still buys into these cheap McCann tactics, because they must be dangerously naive!
Remember the Moroccan "tip" of Maddie being held on the peninsula... and we had aerial shots on Sky news of the location, and in the papers, and we were told detectives were flying out to investigate. Of course they couldn't go into any more details for operational reasons! OMG to this day the McCanns still creep me out, piss me off, and make me laugh in equal measures!

at the moment for some peculiar reason i have happened across a number of people who are reading the bewk. when i hear them speak about kate's heart break, how the portugese police did nothing, how they did not search at all for madeleine, i am just astounded. people are truly taken in by what is written in that book, genuine, intelligent people. they spout "facts" about the case and when i question where these "facts" came from i am told it is in the book ! the three little pigs were in a book too but nobody believes they exist yet if kate wrote it, then it must be true.
it makes me want to go down on my hands and knees and wail like an arab.

Re: possible new maddie sighting????
So despite an official statement to the contrary, Madeleine is alive (and presumably well) in Nerja, and the Spanish police received the appropriate info from the PJ.
Except that she isn't and they didn't.
And the UK Dead Tree Rags are still dying on their arses and still wondering why ...
Ah well, Team McCann must be laughing up their sleeves at that huge chunk of the UK population who prefer to have the tabloids do their thinking for them ...

Gosh, you actually know several people that have the bewk? I find that deeply depressing!
mossman and jd,
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels close to hysteria at times. The lies and tricks and spin from TM has been relentless, and I really wish I'd never heard of this perverse pair of child neglecters, who must be totally soulless to carry on the way they do.

Me too Pennylane, words cannot really describe how utterly despicable they and their friends are. But they are here and I am going to fight them right to the bitter end....leaving no stone unturned. I will find that 'missing piece of the jigsaw' that finally sees them get their fully deserved fate. This country was not brought up on creatures like them

hello pennylane, yes it is all rather bizzare, suddenly the book seems to have come to the forefront, much more so than when it was releassed. perhaps there was a buy one get one free offer somewhere, i don't know. it has come up in conversation with five different people over the past seven or eight days and they were all reading it.
on the positive side, five people have now received links from me to further broaden the minds and hopefully provide them with some useful , unbiased, factual information for them to consider. you cannot form an opinion without looking at both sides.
the mccanns are going to carry on like this to the bitter end, that is for sure. i truly think at this point in time they actually believe their own story. they have talked about it and acted it out for so long now, it has become their truth.

I suddenly have a terrible vision of Kate in an open prison, writing a sequel about the miscarriage of justice - another bestseller. Out for good behaviour in two years, home for weekends..... just a normal life really.

UK NEWSMADELEINE MCCANN ‘SPOTTED IN SPAIN’
Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann
Wednesday April 18,2012
By Gerard Couzens in Nerja, Spain THE parents of Madeleine McCann were given fresh hope last night after it was revealed a police search is under way for her in a Costa del Sol holiday resort.
Detectives are making inquiries in the southern Spanish town of Nerja after a tip-off from police in Portugal of a possible sighting of the girl who would now be approaching her ninth birthday.
As Kate and Gerry McCann prepare to mark the fifth anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance on May 3, they have learnt that Portuguese officers received new details of a young girl resembling Madeleine spotted in the town near Malaga.

They are aware of this report and remain pleased that the police are co-ordinating and following up any leads where necessary

MADELEINE MCCANN: 'A HUGE STEP FORWARD'
Officers from a specialist unit in Spain have been mobilised to the region – 270 miles from where Madeleine went missing in Praia da Luz, Portugal – after being sent a report about the sighting.
It is understood the tip-off came from a witness after identifying a girl she believed to have a strong physical resemblance to the British youngster.
SEARCH UK NEWS for:
The investigation is being carried out by the Specialist and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the Spanish National Police, who have already started to check details. Officers from Scotland Yard have also been informed.
In Nerja, which has a large British expat community, Town Hall spokesman Antonio Gallardo said yesterday: “We urge anyone with any relevant information about Madeleine McCann to assist in the search for her by contacting authorities with that information.”
Last night the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They are aware of this report and remain pleased that the police are co-ordinating and following up any leads where necessary.”
He added that they were unable to discuss any operational details relating to police inquiries. A spokesman for Scotland Yard also declined to comment on the reports of the sighting.
But the development is thought to be linked to a fresh review of Madeleine’s disappearance by police in Portugal.
A new squad of detectives was recently brought in to re-examine the case. The team, from the northern Portuguese city of Porto, has been instructed to go over the thousands of pages of case files. In a similar but separate case, officers from the specialist crime unit are searching for two siblings who disappeared in a park in Cordoba, southern Spain on October 8.
The youngsters’ father Jose Breton is in jail after being arrested over their disappearance. Police have failed to find any trace of Ruth, six, and Jose, two, despite several searches with radar equipment.
The McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer Rogerio Alves described the Portuguese case review as a “very positive sign”.
He said when news emerged of the creation of the new team: “Obviously the most plausible explanation for what’s happening is that information passed to or acquired by the Judicial Police in Porto has put them on the trail of something specific.”
Nerja, known for its famous caves, is home to over 23,000 people although its population more than doubles in summer. Around 30 per cent are foreigners including 3,000 Britons, the biggest expat group.
Several groups of children, including girls of Madeleine’s age, were playing yesterday at Nerja’s rocky promentory Balcon de Europa.
The viewpoint – literally Balcony of Europe – offers stunning panoramas across the Mediterranean and is one of the town’s main tourist attractions.
Cafe and bar owners said they had not yet been quizzed about the missing youngster.
A spokesman for Spain’s National Police, the force said to have received a request for assistance from counterparts in Portugal, also refused to comment.
But a source close to the inquiry said: “An email requesting help regarding a sighting in Nerja of a girl resembling Madeleine McCann was received from Portuguese police around 10 days ago. The contents of the email have not been widely divulged.
“Spanish police are more hermetic than police in places like Britain and this sort of information is not the sort they’d want to put into the public domain. The unit that received the request has total autonomy to use their own officers on inquiries and not involve other police forces or even inform them if they go on to their patch.
“They specialise in missing person inquiries. It would be totally normal for them to keep things in house.”
Madeleine’s parents have never given up hope. Last December, up to eight “very important” leads in the hunt were handed to Scotland Yard’s McCann squad – Operation Grange – by the Barcelona-based private investigators Metodo 3.
The four-strong British police team had detailed discussions with the private detectives and later took possession of 30 boxes of documents about Madeleine.
Francisco Marco, Metodo 3’s director, said he believed it was “very possible” the little girl was taken to North Africa.
The McCanns, both doctors, who live in Rothley, Leicestershire, with Madeleine’s younger twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, have spoken of their satisfaction that British police appeared to be making progress. On their website, set up to keep the hunt alive, they insist there is no evidence Madeleine has been harmed.
A message on the site reads: “Madeleine is still missing and someone needs to be looking for her. We love her dearly and miss her beyond words.”

According to the inspector, "the method adopted by the English is vitiated by an error: they initially dismissed any possibility except the stranger abduction to the group."
"I do not blame parents, but there were others, and for some, there are still doubts. And the only way to resume the inquiry would be to start rebuilding, "said the same inspector noting that" the pressure is on collaboration, "at the expense of quality.
So Scotland Yard are pushing the abduction theory only, and are unwilling to go back to square one and consider the glaringly obvious lies told, because this review is a whitewash that is being driven forward by the Home Office?
I`m hanging on to the word `initially` - could that mean they eventually cottoned on?
I wanted to hang on to that word too, but my grip gave way when I read "the pressure is on collaboration" at the expense of quality.
It seems Helen Monteiro has stopped short of saying it's a whitewash, but is sending a clear message that this review isn't going anywhere thanks to SY's blinkered approach. Well that's what I'm getting anyway.
Why all the despondancy on page 2?
Remember the 5th anniversary approaches and the Mcs won't do interviews so as 'not to harm the SY review', yet suddenly a rehashed sighting finds its way into the press that the PJ dismiss.
Plenty to smile about IMO, but not if your a member of a certain tapas group.

Hello Margaret - No, I don't get the despondency either. AS far as I can see there is more cause than ever for optimism that those responsible (or irresponsible?) for Madeleine's demise will be brought to book (bewk?).
It would beggar belief if SY's veterans miss or deny myriad flaws, holes, inconsistencies and downright impossibilities in The Grim Fairy Tales.

Didn't you realise that kate was down to present the FA cup at the final if Everton had won. Its on May 5th and the 5th anniversary and all that. But Liverpool had to go and spoil it all!

kate must be spewing at Andy Carroll and smashing walls, f'ing this and f'ing that....he has totally ruined their big PR day infront of millions of the world. All the plans to recreate the image of Wembley as in 2007 with Maddie on the scoreboard, with this time 'we have spotted her..have you?' under the coloomba picture.....Their 'small window of opportunity' all gone up in smoke with Everton failing to provide the last piece of the jigsaw

For the record, the 'mark' on Maddies left knee information was circulated to all the media and internet on 8th May 2007 under 'Distinguishing Marks And Characteristics'....So for future 'sightings' or 'lookalikes' please have a look at the left knee first which will tell immediately if there is any chance the girl could be Maddie...will probably save 100% all the rubbish stories and innocent families being frightened. Why the mccann spokesmen clarence mitchell or 'sources' close to the mccanns or media aren't being responsible and saying this rather important fact of immediate identification information is beyond me
