Sousa is a common Portuguese name. Although Bill Sousa is from Portsmouth he probably has family connections to Spain or Portugal.

Spanish police swooped on the resort this week after a tip-off from colleagues in Portugal.

In horror films now...they always have to make an exscuse why nobody has their mobile phone with them

But rather odd as so many people have mobiles on them nowadays, wonder if there
is any connection to the guy who sighted this and the Mccanns or their mates!

A stern warning should be issued from all police forces regarding the possible consequences to people giving false information about sightings and the press that print it ,this just has to stop now!

The Mccanns will have received money for getting it on the front page ,the press will have received money for the extra sales,the source will have also received money for the story which supposedly originated from where,The Spanish police??

The McCanns complain about Amaral, if this sort of tripe was being written about my missing child i know who i would sue. The wording of these articles actually makes a mockery of the sightings.

If the media wants to give space/air time to the plight of missing children they need to do
so with genuine cases, not hoax sightings and reports, - the PJ have even denied they were
anything to do with it but many of the Mccann supporters dont seem to be taking that on board
for some reason. I hope in the fullness of time all those responsible for this will be charged with perverting
the course of justice.

It would appear that it was July 18th 2010/11 given the age he believed this child looked Tanzi.

I think Billy and his "three pals" must have had a liquid 'lunch' ...."outside the bar...". Odd that Billy was so focused on "the girl" that he was able to give a description of the man as "fairly poor, not a drifter but not a rich man". Of course he also had the prerequisite swarthy look too.

Is the Daily Star among the U.K. papers which pay for this kind of "I was there" story?

Fern I take from your comment that you think it ok for strangers to pursue children to take photos of them. Think for one second about how terrified a child would be to be chased by teenagers or anyone for that matter trying to push cameras in their face. With a million pound reward on offer, how long before a child is grabbed by some nutter trying to claim he has found Maddie. Do you not care that a child will, if this madness continues, get seriously hurt.

I really don’t think anyone in their right mind, including the police would release those kinds of details if they genuinely believed a child’s life was in danger, which it would be if details about an abducted child’s possible location/ whereabouts were splashed all over the front pages.

Then we have to think, are we talking here about people in their right minds

The people behind these hoax sightings do not think about the damage
being done to others, remember the little girl from the gypsy family who was besieged by the press.
