Re: Clarence Mitchell Statement at LP Station 2008
There was a Documentary about him on T.V. a couple of years ago, he originally had a Business Partner who got cold feet about some of RB's Business
methods, he started from nothing and often sailed by the seat of his pants . Necker Island which he owns is beautiful . but he charged $3,000 a night
from New Yorkers taking a week-end break there !!!!! Apparently they were given VIP treatment for that. Despite the big grin, I suspect RB is quite ruthless as a Businessman , the Guests having dinner at his Restaurant to raise money for charity were charged full price, probably not Gerry and Kate because they arranged the Venue.

Well, I'm still none the wiser jd16 - but thank you
It is true, of all the connections and threads that have been uncovered and speculated on over the last four years, which one is the significant one?
And don't you need a photographic memory? What a shame that 3A's has bee lost, and all that reference info with it. I'm wracking my brains out here, but isn't Symmington the multi millionnaire with big influence in the Labour party? According to Stella from Jill Havern's forum, Margaret Hodge's nephew - a Symmington - was there, in PDL at the same time as the McCanns - or he left around the 3rd May?

Mitchell...
Rather a bit over the top me thinks
With regard to the various questions about the Renault Scenic: I often saw the car but I do not remember whether I was only inside the Renault Scenic once. I travelled as a front seat passenger on the night that we went to the charity concert in Lagos. Gerald McCann was the driver. The vehicle was packed with other family members.
I did not notice anything strange about the vehicle nor any unpleasant or intense smell.
I do not think that Kate or Gerry could have hidden Madeleine or transported her body anywhere in the car. In my opinion this is a ridiculous suggestion, given that they as well as the car were the object of intense observation by the media, day and night, during the whole time that I was with them. The car was always parked in front of a multitude from television channels and photographers. The car was always followed by photographers during the whole time.
Rather a bit over the top me thinks

Morning Lillyofthevalley,
"I do not think that Kate or Gerry could have hidden Madeleine or transported her body anywhere in the car"
Of course she could , a small 4 yr old could easily fit in the boot.

Panda, The "Scenic" imo is very important, if not serious piece of evidence for the PJ.....if only cars could talk
Note Mitchells replies he seems to just skim over the other questions asked of him, note what effort he put into the Scenic question!!!

Im sure if you wanted, you could fit a child were the spare tyre would be under the floor of the boot, loads of space there

I don't think Clarence knows what truth is, even a neighbour of the McCanns villa said the car was left outside every night with the boot open.

Mitchell: ... the car were the object of intense observation by the media, day and night, during the whole time that I was with them. The car was always parked in front of a multitude from television channels and photographers. The car was always followed by photographers during the whole time.
This is the big lie. Neither the McCanns nor the car were "under intense observation by the media day and night." Tight control of the media whilst continually complaining about intrusion is a crucial part of the TM strategy. You do not camp out in front of the McCanns' villa, you do not pester them with awkward questions, you do not publish unflattering pictures of them etc. etc. Photo shoots are all arranged, interviews are with pre-selected questions only. Anyone breaking "the rules" is frozen out and receives no more information. This is exactly the media policy followed ruthlessly by Blair and later Brown as PM; it is therefore not surprising that Mitchell was able to put it into effect. Pictures of TV trucks outside the McCann home after their "triumphant" return to Rothley were published to enhance the pair's "celebrity" status.

Perhaps SY need also to concentrate on proving if CM has lied as it may appear to some that what
he has said may bear little resemblance to the truth. If they can prove he has lied then they may
need to consider whether appropriate to make charges for perverting the course of justice.

Morning cherry1, if justice was done all their Statements would have been queried at the time. Too late now.

morning Panda, if the truth ever does come out I would hope that it may be possible then
to charge everyone involved and all those involved in the coverup too, but whether we will
ever see that day is another story.
it would appear to some that CM used by government in number of 'dubious' cases.

Is'nt that why people like CM are called "Spin Doctors"? For some reason the McCanns were always protected and it would appear that the Portugese were fazed by the Media attention and the U.K. Government support and did little to assert their authority. This case became the object of Worldwide attention, the Press invading PDL not just U.K. but
Foreign as well.

I think that if the net comes down on the McCanns it will most def come down on Mitchell he has been involved in almost everything that the McCanns have done regarding this case since he took over from Justine back in 2007, imo he will be in the brown stuff if this case ever gets resolved.

No Panda CM isn't clever enough to be called a spin doctor.

I know what you will say, I think he has done a good job protecting the McCanns. Has there ever been a photo of them taken unawares or not without ALL the U.K. Press reproducing it? The only one was of them laughing in Amsterdam and that was quickly withdrawn . He has used his Press contacts to get the McCanns maximum coverage , so in that respect
he has been a good spin Doctor.

Re: Clarence Mitchell Statement at LP Station 2008
Cars fit into garages and the inside of a garage would be private, so whatever they did with the car would have been behind closed doors I think. I am sure they knew people in PDL who may have had a garage, if not a garage adjacent to the villa property they moved into.
If Clarrie turned up at Leics PS. I am still unsure as to why? It does seem contrived to me if he just turned up out of the blue at the same time as Gerry McCann.
Why would Clarrie even be in Leicester if he had no previous connection to this case?
I guess he can spin a reason for his appearance and Gerry doesn't need to because he obviously had business there, but I am guessing the two men knew each other beforehand.
Can just imagine the conversation the two of them had at the nick. Clarrie: "Oh hi Gerry, good holiday?" Gerry: "Yes, plenty of tennis and booze, but I'm here to report something missing" Clarrie: "Oh anything of importance?" Gerry: "The important things were kept in the safe, no its our Maddy, she's done a runner" Clarrie: "Oh, she can't have got far, I'll give you a hand if you like. We'll have it cracked in about 5 years". Gerry: "Oh great, thanks mate".

What about the nights it was parked outside the villa with the boot open Clarence, your Statements has more holes than a colander.
All photoshoots were arrangedby Team McCann, there was no question of their being followed non stop by press. Agreements were reached early on.
The diary and the blog prove that.
They were not followed the night they came across the drunk in the road, or on their visit to Huelva which was posted in the blog before they left and so on...
As to interviews - Kate says somewhere in the diary that there were rehearsals for interviews that could last up to three hours....
We have been watching a soap opera.....

If this had been proposed as the storyline for a fictional soap opera, I think it would have been dismissed as unbelievably far-fetched. Then again, thinking of Eastenders, maybe not!
I am reminded of the film The Truman Show where a man was unknowingly the subject of a reality TV show from the moment he was born.

Three hour rehearsals for interviews? Jeez ......
If that pair ever had to give spontaneous answers to spontaneous questions, they'd spontaneously combust.
In any case, rehearsals are no use whatsoever to those who possess the acting skills of a couple of lengths of 4 x 2.

That's right Badboy, his name is Philip Edmonds. He claims to have a photograph of Madeleine taken in PDL which would be very interesting indeed to see in view of the doubtful veracity of all those issued by the McCanns but he has chosen not to publish it. We can but wonder why.
