EXCLUSIVE: British police identify 'Maddy suspects' and urge Portuguese to act

Not sure how it works in the U.K. but here in Canada law enforcement are very careful about using the term "suspects" unless of course...........such persons are in fact "suspects". If police are merely interested in talking to certain people they use the term "person(s) of interest". The fact that the press are reporting "suspects" I think is highly significant.

In essence the report really said nothing, other than to warn those who might be suspects that they are, so to speak. theyre also telling us that they picked up what the Portuguese missed, and that the Portuguese must now act on what they have been handed. jimo.l

The report says nothing!

What is amazing about the report that said nothing the mccann's did not know about the report saying nothing!
As we saw with the news article 'being developed', through the day... the Mccann's chirped only up later.

They were clearly not as informed and in the loop as they like to make out!

Yet look at it another way. if you were guilty of something and you saw SY was liasing with the portugese helping them further with their case (we know their conclusions!), and had a list of suspects, then would you not be very very worried!!

if i was portugal now i would be saying come on give us names - if they havent got them already - i mean its supposed to be a joint case isnt it -- also with murrat saying he wants it to continue this review reconstruction -- what else could he have been saying that we dont know about -- has he named people of interest to sy

Well I have little faith that 'anything of significance' has turned up. But what I don't quite understand is why this piece of what is really non-news is being reported at all.

Hi cass, yes, James Murray, an ardent McCann fan goes to Portugal to interview Murat????? It is strange that SY should make a Statement now and from the Detective Chief Inspector no less.!!!!! However, it says nothing and I suspect this retireing DCI is trying to prove the £4.5 has been well spent, he says £ 2 million which shows he is dumbing down the cost. What exactly has changed? 195 has been whittled down to a handful , does he think we are stupid, if they are suspect why havn't they been located and interviewed already.?

Expected, but still enormously depressing!

SY are seeking to bury, and finally obliterate, the findings of the original investigation, and isolate Goncalo Amaral..... hence the timing of this before the trial (imo).

penny im thinking like you so many ups to be let down over the years -- gonna be blunt here -- if that was my daughter i would be knocking on sy door right now and demand the frigin list -- at the very least -- this broke this afternoon so all the family could be with the mcanns as we post here - why isnt there reporters around rothley towers - this news no news is bigger than swathy man or madeleine seen in india or whatever -- wonder if the mcanns and tapas have each other on speed dial

I find it strange that there is nothing written on the Official FB page. I can't see one comment but maybe I'm missing it? I guess they are all busy on Twitter right now?

The article is the same as others but my goodness the comments, page after page and almost all criticising the Mccanns. There are very many more disbelievers than believers.

I agree cass , also if it were my child I'd be begging SY to STFU. This 'persons of interest' announcement serves no valuable purpose...... other than to brainwash the masses (imo).
