Maddie: PJ already has letters rogatory and prepares steps
Inspectors will not be the same as investigating the disappearance
By: Drafting / Marisa Rodriguez | 23/08/2013 14:33
The Judicial Police is already in possession of the letter rogatory from the Madeleine McCann case, the missing child in the Algarve in 2007. This is a list of steps that will be made at the request of the British police, who declined to be interviewed more than 30 witnesses, that have already been heard by the PJ. However, British researchers consider that there were questions that remained to be done and clues that were not exploited until exhaustion.
A letter rogatory is extensive and will be enforced by the Board of the South in Faro. Any displacement of a delegation of British police in the Algarve is not yet certain and will be articulated with the prosecution, but it is certain that, once in the country, they can not be to perform the steps. Can only watch what the Portuguese police do. inspectors that will give effect to the letters rogatory will not be the same as investigating the disappearance. The team is already established, only not yet know when will start the steps.
The PGR has secured more than once, that there is no evidence to justify the reopening of the investigation, filed in 2008, one year after the disappearance.

Thankyou, Karen.
Looks like progress is being made. Waiting for these Rogatory interviews to take place in Portugal feels the same as when it was the other way round back in 2008.

I was wondering about that too. I don't understand how they can ask people to return to Portugal to be interviewed - it seems strange. Perhaps they all live there... but then, the Smiths?kitti wrote:So the 30 plus 'suspects'....will they have to go to Portugal ?

This case gets stranger and stranger, as time goes on. The 'Gruesome Twosome' have without a shadow of a doubt, played some part in Madeleine's disappearance, yet they can flit in and out of the country, where they committed the offence, without fear of prosecution, thanks to the British Government.Wintabells wrote:I was wondering about that too. I've been corresponding with a Portuguese born lady, on 'Facebook'. She no longer lives in Portugal, but she wants to buy the Portuguese version of Dr Amaral's book 'The Truth of the Lie'. She has asked her Portuguese friend who lives in Portugal, if she can get it for her, but the friend is having difficulty finding a bookshop that sells the book.
I'm lead to believe that Kate McCann's book, is available to buy in Portugal, as well other countries. If this is true, how come Goncalo Amaral, can win the right to have his book published, yet no one appears to be selling it? How come his own country is not supporting him, by publishing and selling his book? Yet they're supporting Kate McCann, by selling her book. Whoever is selling her book, knows her history and they also know that Dr Amaral, has the right to have his book published and sold.
If Dr Amaral's book, cannot be bought in Portugal, I'm hoping that the reason is because it has sold out and more copies will be on the way to the bookshops, in the near future. I'd hate to think that the McCanns, were the reason Dr Amaral's book, is not being sold in Portugal.

Re - my previous post, regarding Goncalo Amaral's book 'A Verdade da Mentira' / 'The Truth of the Lie'. I Googled 'bookshops in Lisbon' and found a bookshop that sold the book.
If anyone wants to buy the Portuguese version of the book, the link is below.

I got a copy in a second hand book shop in Lisbon, but I haven't seen it in any mainstream shops any where, since it was banned.

Hi Fred, I'm wondering if the book is only available to buy online in Portugal. If this is the case, it is appalling. How can Portuguese bookshops sell Kate McCann's book, but not Dr Amaral's.fred wrote:I got a copy in a second hand book shop in Lisbon, but I haven't seen it in any mainstream shops any where, since it was banned.
The bookshop in the link, which appears to be an online bookshop, is also selling Kate McCann's book. There are 3 prices for the book, 4.90 euro. 9.58 euro and 25.23 euro.

Bertrand have 'proper' book shops too, it's a bit like WH Smiths. Before the court case they have cut out figures of Amaral promoting the book, and I asked the girl if it was going to be traslated in to English, but she didn't know. Then obviously when the court ruled they removed them, but I haven't seen any back on the shelves. I'll have a close look, next time I go just to be sure.kathybelle wrote:Hi Fred, I'm wondering if the book is only available to buy online in Portugal. If this is the case, it is appalling.
