I don't know anything about that but maybe someone else does.
It will be interesting if anyone can recall any earlier reports, including on what was then Ceefax and Teletext.

Yes, I agree Jean, the news of Madeleine's disappearance hit the press way too quickly and it is obvious that the wheels went into operation very quickly (if not even before the alleged abduction was reported) However, I still don't think that Gerry McCann was calling Gordon Brown on the evening of the 3rd may. But you're also right about the "celeb help" it was all just empty rhetoric and they've all long gone now.
NBY I do agree that once Jill Renwick realised that Kate had obviously lied to her in the phonecall in the early hours of the 4th, she should have given her a wide berth, obviously I don't know what the reasons for that are. It's still on record through the gmtv interview and subsequent press report that JR decided to speak to Gordon Brown's brother who lived in the same street as her.
As for the rest, I don't know how the news got through to John Buck etc, but I am still convinced, until I am proved otherwise, that it was not as a result of a phone call from Gerry McCann to Gordon Brown on the 3rd of May

Branson, Greene, Kennedy, Rowling etc.................Billionaires, millionaires all, COULD have hired the BEST, ELITIST professionals in the world to 'trace' Madeleine.
£10-20 MILLION? wouldn't matter to them, collectively.
It wouldn't have cost them anything.
What they shelled out in 'fees' to the ELITES they would have 're-couped' instantly from interest earnt on their fortunes!
They did NOT hire anybody to help the distraught couple did they?
WHY NOT?
IMO, they KNEW it was, or had/has been a scam.
And also, imo, they have, or were, been let in on 'the secret' (very, very EARLY on)
Whether she was 'ferreted away' to re-appear later or a 'faked' abduction or sadly, another 'outcome'
Hence no money given directly, by zlebs, to the Madeleine 'fund' controlled entirely by the McCanns.
But the Zlebs do have a problem now, imo, with the possibility of bad HEADLINES in the future.
ie. Branson supported abduction 'fakers'
Greene lent jet to 'scammers'
Ex England rugby Captain proudly launches 'fund' for 'con artist' couple.
Theresa May and David Cameron completely 'duped' by McCanns. (total lack of judgement on their behalf)
etc.

Hi jean, I saw a report shortly after midnight on the 4th.jeanmonroe wrote:Wasn't the report EMBARGOED until AFTER midnight on the 4th May 2007?Not Born Yesterday wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1550571/Three-year-old-feared-abducted-in-Portugal.html
A very early report which mentions Jill Renwick.
The time of the report - one minute after midnight on 4th May - has caused confusion as obviously then JR hadn't spoken to GMTV.
This must be the time that the story first hit the news desk - remarkably quick for a child who had most likely just wandered off, but that's another story - and it was added to when more news came in.
I don't know about you but, if a friend had told me what turned out to be a load of lies about broken shutters etc and asked me to broadcast them, she'd be off my Christmas card list pretty sharpish!
Andy Renwick (Jill's husband) was one of the sponsors of Kate's recent charity run so it doesn't seem as if the pair of them have any problem with being taken for mugs.
Which would mean somebody (in the press) KNEW about all 'this' (BEFORE midnight) on the 3rd May 2007 dosen't it?
No link and it can't be found anywhere but I know I saw it.

I saw it on the BBC's web site just after midnight on the 4th. It said that a British child had been abducted from a hotel room in Portugal.chrissie wrote:Some posters have said in the past that they heard it on Sky News at that timewjk wrote:Hi jean, I saw a report shortly after midnight on the 4th.jeanmonroe wrote:Wasn't the report EMBARGOED until AFTER midnight on the 4th May 2007?Not Born Yesterday wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1550571/Three-year-old-feared-abducted-in-Portugal.html

I was talking to a hairdresser who works in PDL and the rumours there, is that kate has a relative that works at Sky news. She was saying the residents there are disgusted with the Mccanns, people were taking time of to help them and now she is slating them all for not doing enough.

Unbelievably ungrateful. Some local people in PDL took a week off work and searched until their feet were blistered. Kate and Gerry went jogging and when their relies joined them, the relies sat by the pool.fred wrote:I was talking to a hairdresser who works in PDL and the rumours there, is that kate has a relative that works at Sky news. I read it was Rachel Mapilly who phoned Sky. also, Batista, the OC Manager who was called in by one of the Bosses says when she arrived she was horrified to see so many people in 5A contaminating any evidence and some using their mobile phones.

Yes Panda, I heard it was Rachel as well, but it wasn't sky, she had a friend who worked at the BBC and that's who she called, and sky have always denied anyone connected to the McCanns phoned them.Panda wrote:

You're also right about the chaos in 5a caused by the McCanns and their friends on the night of the 3rd, which is why I get so annoyed when the Portuguese police are criticised for not sealing it off and making it a crime scene straight away, by the time they arrived, it was already too late for that, the McCanns and their friends had done a pretty good job of destroying any potential evidence that was there.

From Rachael Oldfield's Rogatory:
" ...... I mean I suppose it could, it might have been a Journalist, because on the night that Madeleine disappeared, on the Thursday, a friend of mine, or friends of Matts and mine, Kath and James LANDALE and James LANDALE's a BBC News erm and at the time he was like Political Correspondent, erm I saw him the other night actually reading the news on BBC News 24 but I rang him, or I rang his wife Kath cos I had her mobile number, erm basically to say you know that Madeleine had gone missing, was there any way that we could get it on the news and that was, that was on the Thursday night, so I suppose and it was the loc, it was the, was it the Local Elections or something happening that day.''

Hi susible , yes, as Doctors they would know more than most that if you are dealing with an abduction you must not contaminate any evidence. How could the twins have slept through all the noise without waking up?susible wrote:Yes Panda, I heard it was Rachel as well, but it wasn't sky, she had a friend who worked at the BBC and that's who she called, and sky have always denied anyone connected to the McCanns phoned them.Panda wrote:

Thanks almostgothic, what a stupid woman.!!! If they believed Madeleine had been abducted surely common sense tells you to keep quiet to avoid any publicity which any Abductor would not want and result in the demise of the person abducted.almostgothic wrote:From Rachael Oldfield's Rogatory:

My husband worked with someone who was at PDL at the same time as the McC clan were and she was absolutely horrified and disgusted to see Kate out on the sunbeds slathering suntan lotion on herself shortly after Madeleine disappeared. Not sure if it was the following week or sooner but no one in her party could believe what they were seeing, a grieving mother sunning herself while everyone else was out endlessly searching.

Re: Santa's Little Helpers By Dr. Martin Roberts
BTW Thanks Almostgothic for the link to Rachels Rogatory, which I referenced in this post
Hmm.so maybe, Rachel phoned her (or her and Matt's friend) at the BBC, on that night, and that is the source of the flurry of activity, picture the scenario of
RO: Oh No..my friends daughter has been abducted
BBC: What?
RO; Yes, abducted from our holiday apartments in portugal..she's three years old....
BBC:o she was abducted,yes?
RO: Yes, she was taken from her bed, she's gone...what will we do?
BBC: Don't worry, we'll get it out in the media, we'll soon find her..call everyone...Ambassadors..who will then phone advisers...who will then phone whoever it may be that can help sort the situation out
Now it has always been my belief that at the time of Madeleine's disappearance that as a result of the strained political landscape, we had a situation that an unelected and disliked member of the govt was about to take over in (from what we are to believe was a private and longstanding battle) from Tony (the coiner of the phrase People's princess to describe the late Diana) and Brown wanted his moment to shine and gain the popularity vote..he didn't though..
And from the first faux pas in his early days as PM and the decisions he made, it just went from bad to worse, and whilst he may have used his power and influence in the halcyon days of the McCanns to divert the investigation, it never swayed from its original conclusions, and I do not only hope, but believe that as our previous PM and his predecessor Blair discovered, the truth will always come out and the popular vote will be lost..and the consequences will follow

Ta for this dac but not in the least bit surprised. They were jogging and blogging within days of Madeleine's disappearance. The vid of GM laughing his head off days after the "abduction" and KM telling Jane Hill that she could sleep normally after 5 days. Not normal. Re: Santa's Little Helpers By Dr. Martin Roberts
I think the discrepancy with the phones and the pings or calls recorded also relate to the McCann getting untraceable mobiles given to them almost straight away after.
I would love to know if these phones were analysed also.
Clearly something strange happened with the mobiles as either the McCann were not phone hacked (as it was not said they were at leveson) or the phones that were hacked, people were not meant to know that they had them, hence keeping quiet.
This whole thing makes me glad the Tories are in power as the people tories associate with are not the type of people labour or the McCanns associated with.
after Syria Cameron needs something to bring him up in public esteem and charging of the McCanns would be right up there. Cameron and Gerry don't like each other so there would be no love lost.

The phone calls must have been important because I seem to remember the Portugese Prosecutor going to Court to ask if they could be used in a Trial but the Court said it was too intrusive. !!!

Well Cameron certainly got a good slap in the gob over the Syria vote, just shows how out of touch he is with real people. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the same. Whenever there is an article where people can freely state their opinions, there are always very few comments in support of the McCanns.
