To add to this I think she possibly died the night of the Mrs Fenn incident giving them 48 hours to clean the apartment and put the somewhat botched plan together.
Always believed it was the interruption of JW that stopped the shutters being damaged.

Madeleine: what's behind the search?

Many people with a keen interest in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are hopeful that the latest phase in the investigation will reveal vital evidence that will lead to the solving of the seven-year-old mystery. Many others have already written it off as a waste of time – or maybe worse.

A prevalent view is that the Metropolitan Police Service must have good reason for mounting an extensive ground search to which they have committed a forensic team, ground-penetrating radar equipment, specialist dogs and with heavy earth-moving machinery on stand-by.

The reason must have been strong enough to persuade the Portuguese authorities to allow the search on a piece of private land near the centre of Praia da Luz during the summer holiday season.

The British detectives have been understandably cagey about what they expect to achieve, but it seems unlikely they would have gone to such legal and bureaucratic lengths, and agreed to pay the search costs, only to confirm there is nothing of interest buried on the site.

No one will be more surprised if the police do find a body or any other evidence than Praia da Luz residents who know the site well. They point out that countless walkers and their dogs have crisscrossed the scrubland interminably over the past seven years.

The area comprises bedrock and soil so hard that a kidnapper or anyone else trying to dispose of a body there would have needed a JCB himself. That anyone unfamiliar with the area could have buried evidence at nighttime or unseen is not feasible, they say.

Credible sources say that some Portuguese Judicial Police officers in the Algarve are among those ridiculing the search operation.

Seasoned sceptics suspect it may be just “a fishing trip,” or even a “whitewash,” part of a plan to try to bring the investigation to a dignified close.

As ever, speculation is rife. Let’s hope for some clarification in the days ahead."

Yes, I saw that. ITV are a lot less biased than Sky News. I can't stand listening to the guy on Sky!

I think they only dig if their surveillance indicates something positive. The news reports are saying they are only there for about a week. Surely if they start digging it will take far longer?

Thats why the car showed the traces of Cadaver and DNA

What you state in your post, makes perfect sense Duncanmac and what you state has made me feel physically sick. I also feel physically sick at the thought of the suffering will have endured, before she was removed from the McCanns apartment. I also feel for Sean and Amelie, because at this moment in time, these children, have no idea of the bombshell that will hit them in the near future.

Why oh why don't the PJ take the McCanns into custody? If the McCanns weren't responsible for any suffering that Madeleine endured, they were the root cause of her suffering.

I'm rephrasing my last sentence and I am now saying that the McCanns are responsible for any suffering Madeleine endured. They are the root cause of Madeleine's disappearance, so they must be responsible for anything that happened to Madeleine, including any suffering she endured.

In my opinion, the McCanns are very much involved with every aspect of Madeleine's disappearance. Including events that took place before Madeleine was removed from the McCanns apartment.

I'm basing my opinion, on the cadaver scent that was found on the clothing of Kate McCann and Madeleine, as well as other places. Also the McCanns behaviour, has not been that of parents, whose child had gone missing without their knowledge.

various news reports wrote:It is understood they will use ground penetrating radar to identify any anomalies within the ground that may warrant further investigation with police dogs or physical digging.

Former Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley told Sky News the radar equipment likely to be used in the operation can detect if the ground has been disturbed as far back as seven years ago.

The way I read it, digging is something they are prepared for but it may be something they do not end up doing after all; it all seems to depend on whether they do indeed find any anomalies within the ground.

So they've compared the state of the ground now with images of how it looked in 2007 and are interested in changes that have occurred. Ok. That makes sense. But how could anyone have actually dug a hole in that hard ground? or was it done over a period of time. Could the body have been stored in the car until the burial site was ready?

Madeleine McCann: Channel 4 Invite You To Watch Her Dead Body Emerge From The Ground
by Anorak | 2nd, June 2014

MADELEINE McCann is front-page news in the Daily Star:

Police are digging on wasteland. They are looking for… Well, it must be a body, right?

Says the Star:

‘Come and dig up my garden’ says mother of cleared Maddie suspect – A MUM whose son was cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance welcomed the new police search.

She is Jenny Murat, mother of the innocent and monstered Robert Murat, a man put through the wringer by the voracious media. The Star adds:

Jenny Murat told British detectives: “Come and dig up my garden if you think it will help your search.”

Why is that news? Is it because she’s writing a book about her family’s ordeal?

Her son Robert Murat, 40, has been probed then eliminated as an official suspect – or arguido – by Portuguese police.

So…

“They won’t find a thing but if they need to do it as part of their investigation they’re welcome. That poor girl’s parents need some answers after seven years.”

Robert Murat‘s name sullied by the McCann story.

British ex-pat Jenny, 78, lives just 100 yards away from the holiday flat in Portugal’s Praia da Luz where Maddie vanished. She said Scotland Yard had not been in contact yet.

So. Jenny Murat hasn’t told the police anything, then?

She was speaking as British and Portuguese police prepare to dig up parts of the resort. She added: “I’ve had it all before when my son Robert was living here and now I’m thinking: ‘Not again.’ But if it helps police rule out a certain scenario, let it be. We’ve got nothing to hide.”

No. But you can’t escape the story.

She added: “I’ve been away in England for a while but I’m home now and my garden’s overgrown and full of weeds.”

Much like the case.

She said police had originally searched her home and garden in July 2007, just two months after the then three-year-old vanished as her parents dined nearby. She said: “I remember it only too well.

“There were six policemen with sniffer dogs all over the place.” She insists the new dig will anger locals adding: “They feel it could ruin our tourism industry.”

The hunt for Our Maddie is still on. And on Channel 4 you can watch it live!

The news outfit that hates the tabloids is advertising a live feed to a child’s body emerging from the dirt, maybe? Or are we just watching the grass grow – LIVE?

You dig and dig and dig and when you hit rock bottom in this tale of an innocent child, you keep scraping in the dirt…

Some cynical people are saying that the dig coincides with the libel trial and SY know they won't find a body it's just to help the mccanns case against Mr Amaral in proving that he libelled them by saying Madeleine is dead when their is no proof she is dead as SY have proved it by not finding a body .

kitti i really couldnt put my money on what these digs are all about but how much more has portugal got to go through , it is the begginning of the holiday season and they are suffering like most countries trying to make a living , how many more headlines could there be swathy , binman , pedo , dead tractor man , thief , whatever tainting their tourist trades , how many little girls will be gawped at , how many girls around the world will have dna taken to proove they are not madeline , and for all this to stop ? no imo both sy and portugal have had enough of it now , they might find things that proove madeleine is dead but who has done it is another matter , this case has run into millions and for it to continue will only enrage the public , they are shouting more and more about it , imo this is the end , maybe no arrests etc but i really think madeleine will be declared dead

I was sceptical with all of the advance publicity this search received. Then I was thinking last night the recent search for Ben Needham was widely publicised, so too the more recent developments in the Claudia Lawrence case.

Looking at images on tv, I have to think this is a serious operation. It is too big, too public to be a paper exercise, surely ? It won't strengthen any whitewash by doing this, in fact it could cause uproar because of the money being spent on it. It now involves two Countries and worldwide media attention. No longer is it Andy and the Crimewatch team sending out subliminal messages to a gullible public. It's now a huge operation, a lot of people to keep quiet. Possible of course, but very difficult, considering they have all been there before.

I don't believe this search does anything for or against the libel trial. The judge has a specific claim in front of her and two sides of a story. She needs to base her decision on what she has heard and is presented with in court. If the search ends fruitless before the trial, it proves nothing, other than Madeleine was not buried where they searched. It still does not prove the child was abducted, or that the child is alive. The McCanns are still left with the onus on them to prove their claim to the judge.

When this ends, will the files in Portugal again be published if they decide to close or shelve the investigation ? That must be a spanner in the works for any cover up.

Off course that isnt so, is it....

The converse of course is that if SY are now only looking for a body it does rather support the thesis that the young girl unfortunately died in 2007 as concluded by the original investigators.

Absolutely Chris, and those searching now are using the much same evidence gathering techniques as the team who investigated in 2007. So to suggest death from this new look at the case, can only conclude that Amaral's earlier conclusion was correct. The evidence gathered back then must surely be upheld as accurate, leaving the suspects to whom all the evidence pointed in 2007 as the most likely culprits. Not every paedophile, burglar, gipsy or conman on the planet, alive or dead (preferably dead, to avoid the embarrassment of them denying the offence).
