Crimewatch
Has any one heard if it's true that the Mccanns are on Crimewatch tomorrow for a special 30th anniversary programme?

Re: Crimewatch
Thanks, sorry hadn't seen it. I was hoping it was just rumours.

Re: Crimewatch
If anyone has the current issue of the Radio Times, there is a nauseating interview with Kirsty Young about the interview with the McCanns last year.

Re: Crimewatch
I certainly won't be able to watch it.
Interesting wording in Radio Times: "......a new interview with Kate and Gerry McCann, as well as relatives of other high-profile murder victims....."
It assumes that Madeleine is sadly dead.
It is so peculiar that any open case should be featured along with others that have been solved.

Yes, ".....other high-profile murder victims," is interesting.
Re: Crimewatch
As I mentioned in the earlier thread on this subject, the programme is billed as "marking thirty years of crime SOLVING". Possibly it will be announced that the mystery of Madeleine's "disappearance" has been solved and the "guests" will be handcuffed and dragged away kicking and screaming - now that would be well worth watching.
Odd that the McCanns are featured with solved murder cases when they are considered to be the "victims" of Madeleine's unsolved death.

Re: Crimewatch
They have tried everything else, so now they will try to convince us it's a solved crime. We just missed the outcome. Nothing would surprise me any longer.

Re: Crimewatch
So what we all want to know is how do the McCanns qualify to be on this program.
Is it coz one of them killed Madeleine or coz she died from an accident?
There is no proof of an abductor or of an abductor killing Madeleine. The dogs detected around 5A and the car not miles away.
They are on coz The Pink One says so. You know the one, the pretendy copper. lol

Re: Crimewatch
That's a huge subliminal message. "Showing how murder has not destroyed their lives". So Maddie was definitely murdered, then. Are the McCanns now going to sue the Beeb for "harming the search"? Isn't that the very reason that there's now a damages trial going on in Lisbon?

For anyone brave enough to watch, the programme will be shown at 22.40 and not 21.00 as billed in the Radio Times.

Re: Crimewatch
Yes , it does give the impression, kitti, that the McCanns have also a connection with a murder.
With a coverup controlled my MI5 / 6 it does give me the impression that a very high up person was involved.
7 years of lies etc wouldn't have taken place for two doctors.

I have always wondered were M15 or MI6 already in Portugal, national security wont let us know. and even if they were why get involved with the disappearance of a child?

Re: Crimewatch
I've always found it odd that people within the group knew people in the 'Know'.
Gerry McCann knew Gordon Brown.
Kate Mccsnns parents know someone high up in the MET
Rachel Oldfield knows someone who happens to work for the BBC.

Re: Crimewatch
I don't think that knowing someone at the BBC is necessarily of significance - it might be the tea lady! A very important person in her way, of course.
I have seen it said somewhere recently that the Healys know Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe but is there any proof of that?
I have a feeling that it's John McCann who knows Gordon Brown's brother.

Re: Crimewatch
Is it true that on the programme Madeleine was referred to as "murdered"? Would that not be hindering the search for the "abducted" child that the McCanns would have us be on the outlook for?

Re: Crimewatch
Redwood - this case has over the years since Maddie disappeared has been the subject of intense media coverage and some of that coverage has not been factually accurate. We had the opportunity to carefully piece together the timeline in terms of the information and evidence that we accumulated and then to be able to reach out to the public helping them to relive that moment.
Kirsty - and lets focus on 10pm lets focus on this sighting and you tell me whats important and what people watching..
Redwood - on the night of the television broadcast on Crimewatch it was an unprecedented event for us, you know the public watched the programme in their millions and called in their thousands and amongst all that information we got some really interesting leads.
Kate - on the day that the programme went out we were actually in the studios and were able to witness a lot of the calls coming in and as soon as the appeal started the phones started ringing.
Gerry - I was quite surprised after the length of time since (couldnt make out some words) multiple appeals could we get anything more but clearly the format of the programme, the way the information was delivered meant people who had really relevant information came forward.
During the programme it was also mentioned about reconstructions and that wherever possible filming takes place in the actual locations where crimes have happened.
Commander Neil Basu said there is nothing more important than having accuracy in the reconstructions, they've got to be as close as possible with what we think are the facts of the case.
It was also mentioned that reconstructions can be a powerful way of telling viewers about victims and the events leading up to a crime. They can also reach out to people who may not otherwise come forward with information.
