The comments on Youtube are interesting. - "Triumphal victory marches don't tend to be through a construction zone."

Holst's Planet Suite is my favourite...I believe my Grandfather was the conductor at the first performance of the Planets

Did anyone else see the Last Night Of The Proms? I thought that the lead soprano completely murdered Rule Britannia. Although the costume was cool.

Re: What is your fave classical piece?
My favourite piece ever is Tchaikovsky's "Chant Sans Paroles", which was written for the piano. My Grandfather used to play it, and he had no formal training whatsoever; he couldn't even read music, but he had the wonderful talent that he could pick up almost any instrument and five minutes later, he would be getting a tune out of it.
Anyway, this is a very obscure piece, and the only one I could find on You Tube was played by saxophonists! Also, the tempo is far too fast. But this will give you an idea of it, and the old gramophone is pretty neat.
