Daily Express report on Court Hearing 11/12/09

Hi Beattie, it wouldn't be Mitchell's idea, I think he's perhaps more astute than that. It's either CR or the McCann's sheer greed and belief in their own propaganda is the reasoning behind the 1.2 mil imo. They honestly believe that the blurb put out by our media is soaked up as gospel by the British public. Some may well be taken in but so many have access to the Internet nowadays that every McCann facial expression, every slip, every public reaction to what the McCanns say and do is reported more accurately and believably than the journos here in Britain can ever hope to cover up with their penny rag reporting. Will the British press be printing the booing of the McCanns by the Portuguese?

My own opinion, for what it's worth is that Amaral has played them at their own game and will successfully defeat their ludicrous claim.

I like Alfiefinn's diagnosis of emotional dyslexia... superb.

I'm sure if it was as easy as that then they surely would call it off. Unfortunately they then become liable to be sued for damages by both Dr. Amaral and his publisher for things such as loss of business during the injunction period. That could be very expensive. It's a sort of 'Catch 22' situation they've manoeuvred themselves into.

I'm sorry I missed the booing part on Sky but watched the Sky clip online. Mr Gerry was mighty pissed off - looked as though he was ready to kill something and Kate tagging along aside, making quick checks about what he was about to say next. Very revealing that it wasn't going their way - goodo

In a way it was inevitable that having a libel suit tried in Portugal against Amaral, the one person who knows about the case, would be their nemesis. Especially since their own attempts to find their daughter have shown
their incompetence and complete disregard for the waste of money.

This really is quite fascinating and will be very interesting to see what happens.

I"m half watching David Blaine, the Magician, he really is extraordinary, the McCanns could do with someone
like him to get them out of the mess they have got themselves into.

It is going to be very interesting, and if the injunction gets lifted, Mr. Amaral's book has had so much publicity through this court case, it will just fly off the shelves when it is available again.

I agree and with his latest book on sale today about the interference and gagging of the truth, the McCanns and
others will be wondering just who will be implicated.

THE MCCANNS HAVE NOW SAID THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO LOOK IN THE DIARY TO SEE IF THEY HAVE TIME TO COME BACK FOR THE TRIAL IN JAN.

A very calm Amaral has them on the ropes and is now patiently waiting to deliver the knockout punch... and the McCann's and their idiot backers and followers know it!

Particularly Gerry who looked extremely shell shocked and agitated today! (I wonder how their T7 pals are feeling now!)

I don't think there's a snowballs chance in hell that this cowardly, despicable child neglecting couple will return in a months time for the hearing!

In fact, I don't think they will ever set foot in Portugal again unless compelled to by the Judiciary.

Deluded? Though I suppose that's the same as idiot.

I've no idea if they'll turn up in January or not, though since Kate is now a member of the long-term unemployed I don't think she should find it too difficult to fit another court appearance into her schedule. How the hearing will go I don't know, but in the long run it may not matter. What will matter is what is said in court, especially by those speaking on behalf of Gonçalo Amaral, as a lot of this may be news to those members of the public who aren't aware of the true facts of the investigation. There's always more than one way to skin a cat (oops! as a cat lover I shouldn't use that expression!) and so even if GA's book ends up being banned, the important information contained in it will undoubtedly be aired in court.

What I'm really hoping is that the amount of publicity given to Madeleine's disappearance by all this, and the fact that the theory of abduction is shown to be no more than one theory among others, will lead to a real wish among the general public for the case to be reopened and all possibilities re-examined. A 3-year-old child has disappeared without trace, in very mysterious and suspicious circumstances; court hearings about libel and compensation are all very well if that's what floats your boat, but that little girl's fate is what must be discovered and how can that be done unless the case is reopened?
