3:29 jondipaolo: Duarte: Did you know that the documentary was broadcast on Madeleine's birthday?
Mr Velho: No, I didn't know that.
Oh God this is looking really bad for Mr Amaral.
"WHY"
Because if it was shown on Madeleines birthday then the press are going to have a field day calling hima vindictive cop as he would of known Madeleines birthday.

Kate mccann has left court. She said she believes in portuguese justice and these proceedings will go a long way to help find madeleine
Why doesnt someone ask HOW will these proceedings help ?, or is she implying an extra 1.2 million might just come in handy

actually, reading through the debacle of late....im pretty much sated.
the very fact that amaral will not back down and duarte has stated that this may lead to years of court cases is sort of enough for me. that means they will have a pointing finger somewhere at any time for a long long long time to come.
therefore in my opinion justice has prevailed somewhat.

Yes, and at least an important part of the truth is out!!!
WHAT ABOUT LEAFLETS????????????????
NOW????
I still would like to know WHERE the lies in the book are!
Aren´t there any lies in the book/files?
The McCanns only hate the following allegation: Madeleine is dead, parents are involved and concealed her.
But the files are okay for them.
Nun ja:
RAN AN DIE TAT!!!!

Yes but it does take a toll on both parties. The vindictiveness of the McCanns means their stupid lawyers are making sure he has court cases to answer all over the place. I see that he has aged considerably since the case began and I fear for his health and his own families well being.
Duarte has launched a complaint against him for fraud on his legal aid application and now she is launching a complaint that he violated the secrets act in writing his book before the case became public. They are making sure he is forever fighting court cases. IMO they are trying to hound him to death.

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
I think that Dr. Amaral can write books with or without the files.
He has been the coordinator of the case!!!!
He would not have needed the files.
I assume the date of the publishing is the only issue which counts.
And the news have already been in the news papers.
Nothing has been new in his book.
Mme Duarte!!!!

Court:
She tells the court that the channel's general programme director had wanted to buy the Channel 4 documentary on the mccanns.
We're back in court and Ana Teixera, international programming director for TVI, is the next witness to take the stand.

Court:
They signed the deal to screen the Channel 4 documentary, but a time slot was not assigned. It was pencilled in for 9.15pm.

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
the uk police have recently made a big thing about the 'secrecy' of their files..so this is where she's going...but if the book wasnt on sale untill after the files were released then amaral hasn't violated the 'secrecy laws'.
anyone can write a book but unless or untill it offered for sale then there's nothing anyone can do about it... i hope

I would say the relevant date would be that on which the book was actually available for sale.
Isabel Duarte is not playing a very good hand, I would say, with that threat: if they can't get Amaral on libel, then they try on the grounds that he published too soon? So, they could be seen as saying that Amaral's book is valid, but it came out too early?

Teixera: A few days later we received a call from Channel 4 saying the documentary was not to be sold to TVI because the McCanns opposed it.

The process in the court is not secret and reporting the proceedings is in the public interest and that includes reporting exactly what everyone said.

jondipaolo: Teixera: We requested via their lawyer that the McCanns take into consideration the fact that TVI is Portugal's biggest broadcaster.

jondipaolo: TVI tried to stop the broadcast by SIC but their attempt was rebuffed by a court.

I think that if Gerry had questioned Paiva's testimony in court, he'd be exempt from prosecution, but he said it outside court.

For ever and ever. So it doesn't really matter if the books is banned???? And somebody could write a book about this court case. or several people could write books about this court case.

Teixera: There are three main reasons to broadcast both documentaries.
TeFirstly, audiences; secondly, two versions of the case; thirdly, to prevent rival channel SIC getting the audience share.
