You would think that Mr Amaral would want to be there to hear what the McCann's witnesses would have to say and to help his lawyer to question them.
see my previous post GA just arrived sorry lol the guy tweeting is too fast for me LOL

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
Team McCann have manipulated everything from day 1, hindered the Portugese Police investigation, brought in
their own Investigators, ensured the Home Office did their bit by taking 6 months to agree the rogoratory letters, denied Medical Records access, the LP denied the McCanns had Credit Cards ( a bare faced lie)......the
list is never ending.
However, this Hearing has brought much into the open and cast doubt on the McCanns innocence and that can only be a good thing.

So maybe we get the bad bit first, Goncalo is still injuncted and have to wait to hear the Judge, I hope say, nominal damages, they damaged their own reputation.

FWIW l don't think the McS have any 'ace' up their sleeve (though they always seem to pull something out of the hat) l think G would have stayed if they had.

Could it be that the McCann lawyers made Gerry leave, because of his temper. Wouldn't do the case any good. This all seems so sudden to me, Gerry leaving, Fiona coming in......

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
I think G felt compelled to go home to do what he feels is his duty, control the British press and give his immediate speech to Sky News to try and redress the damage that was undoubtedly caused the first day in particular given the headlines.
Just the same as he felt he needed to be in Portugal in 2007 to "control the investigation". When he realised the PJ were controlling him, he had to do a runner.

I do not think that sounds very good for Goncalo.

Yes, the judge is now making that very clear.
The interim would give the McCanns and Goncalo a chance to settle their differences, she may express the hope they do so when she gives judgment on this.

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
I think it's significant that the judge has stressed that this is about the publication of the book and not a libel trial. Therefore even if the book is banned (perhaps because of confidentiality) or such like. They are not guaranteed £1.2 million. If what the book is said is true then how can it be libel. But it still could be withdrawn for some other reason.

I do not think that sounds very good for Goncalo.
But if Goncalo should win this case, then I think the other one is not needed anymore. If the judge decides the book did no harm to the McCanns, why still the 1M?

Re: Sky Live Day 3 - 14/01/10
How come there are so few in the Courthouse today? Would it be that the Star Attraction ,Gerald McCann, is
not there?
I wish Amaral wouldn"t keep turning up late it smacks of disrespect.
