Sky is saying the dead girl reported as abducted/missing:

"Rebecca had been reported missing on website Help Find My Child - which posts details of abducted or missing children.

In an entry dated December 7, 2007, the girl was said to be missing from Lichfield in Staffordshire.

The website says: "Police are concerned for Rebecca who has not been seen since she left the UK with her mother and father Martin Smith.

"They are believed to have left the country via Dover and may have travelled to Spain, however could be anywhere in Europe."

We never saw any posters of this poor little girl back then, who definitely needed finding fast!

Such a sad little picture of her face they are showing now.

Sky is also reporting that a French man saw the mother rough handle the little girl on the balcony of the room. Paedophile and TV psychic alias conman. Just watched the youtube clip posted by Fred and it amazes me that anyone can be taken in by such nonsense. There must be some extremely gullible folks out there..I suppose Smith could be innocent of the abuse charges, although running away seems to indicate otherwise. Perhaps he'll claim he was possessed at the time!!¨Nothing would surprise me.

I have always been amazed by what some people are taken in by too feds. Never more so than the McCann saga.

Perhaps this latest awful tragedy will spook a number of people who have just come into power? It might make them think twice about hitching their wagon up to parents who left three tiny children alone, especially since nobody knows for sure what happened to Madeleine, and it is known by the masses that the PJ and Amaral do not believe the parents.

You certainly wouldn't want to be associated with child neglect or worse - having seen the potential for disaster that has occurred here!

There seems to be so much going on with this story. The assumption that everybody must be 'just like us', if they're from a similar social grouping, seems to be contradicted all the time. It's mad to think that you can classify someone as innocent or guilty, bad or good, because they come from a professional, or a so-called working class, background. People are individuals, and you can never really know what's going on inside somebody's head.

Just reading the daily mail online and it states the Mam of the two little mites worked in the area of child safety or missing kids .Also, i have a niggle about martin smith,,what was the name of the musical rover in pdl at the time of Maddies disapearance.I think the was another martin smith somewhere in the maddie case,and no ,not talkin about the irish guy,

According to the Telegraph website Martin Smith has been accused by a young woman of abuse over a ten-year period when she was a child. Smith apparently grew up in a strict Roman Catholic household..not sure what to make of that..

The Mail online is saying that Mrs Lianne Smith was in touch with a 'publicist' in the days before the children's deaths saying she didn't know how she'd cope after her husband's extradition. Lianne Smith was convinced of her husband's innocence.

A publicist? What on earth for? I find this extraordinary if it's really true. I'm assuming it wasn't Clarence anyway, as presumably he's too busy with publicity for the McCanns and the Tories.

What is the legal position if someone knows the whereabouts of someone else who's wanted by the police? Are you obliged by law to inform the police of what you know? Or can you just stay quiet and keep your knowledge to yourself?

Dimsie, I would imagine a person would be charged with something like aiding and abetting or as an accessory? I'm sure there's some technical name for it. She was obviously well aware of why they left Britain in the first place. What I find somewhat concerning is the fact that while on the run they've chosen to work with children and opened a school/group teaching English.

What puzzles me is that if these people are as 'normal' as the papers are now inferring, and their claims that the accusations are all false then why is he 'Britain's most wanted man'?? I think these are very serious charges he's having to answer to... all 13 of them but today's reports seem to be dampening them down a bit. Is it because their occupations and lifestyle are coming to light. Makes no bloody difference imo.

Mrs Smith, a former head of a Cumbria County Council department set up to protect children, ran a nursery in the Spanish city for youngsters aged three to six.
