Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
I hope it did not take the police five days to check her phone and put 2 and 2 together there... the fact that no calls went out or were answered after 840 on the night, would tell you she wasn't alive after that unless she was a very sporadic cellphone user. So anything between 840 that night on and the time of the screams would be critical. No pizza for her means the bad guy took it or disposed of it, which is the oddest thing.
(I can see why people suspected the BF with his alibi, just being out of town the same time she went missing, and his failure to find it odd she wasn't answering the phone or texts... surely he'd get home, call her when he sees her bag and coat still there and she is not - hear the phone ring in her bag, check her messages and see that she hadn't taken or made calls or made or returned texts since Friday. Very odd to leave it for 4 hours after no sign of her for 3 days. Maybe he was in denial. Who could imagine this?
who told the killer she'd be home alone all weekend? Jeffries. Or at least told him that he'd sorted the BF and got his car running and him going out of town.
He must feel horrible about that, poor man.
I wonder what made the police rule VT out initially? And when they actually went back and got his dna? Did the phone tip make them look at him again?
I also wonder why the "found with no shoes and one sock" wasn't released earlier because it tends to put the removal of her from her house rather than otherwise, simpler and more logical explanation for how her things got to her flat than someone returning them after abducting her off the street. People should have been focusing on what was going on at 9 pm at that flat, where were all the neighbors I wonder, to hear her scream, see her not leave the house for the weekend, hear her cat crying, see VT cycling off like mad for his borrowed car, coming in with a strange car, leaving with it shortly after, etc. Jeffries makes up a sighting to save his own skin (sound familiar!) but doesn't notice any of the things really happening? Very interesting given the McCann case as a parallel too.
I guess with the radio on and your flat facing away from the street or if you weren't home you wouldn't notice. But I find it odd that with Jeffries being a chatty person, and the landlord, i nthe know about comings and goings, that he wouldn't notice this uncharacteristic set of activities and absences.

I had a quick look over it earlier to remind myself of things that were said at the start.
Its amazing how much you forget over time.
It will be an interesting one to follow when it comes to court, for sure.
OT I wonder where T4two is?
Not seen him around for a while.
it is a good read! We're getting to be fairly able profilers and armchair detectives here after 4 years! If I say so myself. And this is based on only what the media says - or the police - we don't have all the clues but I'd have guessed "attacked by someone she knew in her house about 9 PM" (Col Mustard in the drawing room with the candlestick) even with what I did see and that makes it likely to be someone she knew as there was no break in or struggle...
Should PM t4two... although I don't suppose there will be much to say about this now until it goes to trial in october?

Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
i'd really like to know how the cops are so sure its murder?
They've obviously got something that takes out the manslaughter plea.
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, once the case starts.

Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
Maybe they will think it's murder based on circumstantial evidence. But as we've seen with Casey Anthony (although God forbid there are 12 such dullards in Bristol or whever the trial is) just because people "dont normally" hide the body if there's been an accidental death doesn't mean if you DO have a suspect who hid the body, (after strangling her) that they will think that is murder.
To me, strangling takes too long to be not intending to kill someone. It takes minutes. If this guy isn't given to blacking out from rage or the like - he's a calm, intelligent person - has no disease or mental defect - it's hard to go against the evidence that he choked her to death and like murderers do, dumped her away from the crime scene since it implicated him.
His dna on her breasts could go either way - she fought off a rape or they were engaged in sex when she "changed her mind" or started to scream or what not and in trying to silence her, etc. tho you usually don't silence someone with a hand on their neck!
Then we have the pizza... I have a feeling the pizza will play a role. I really don't like the idea of him sitting around to eat her food after killing her.

I think that sums it up nicely at this time! I wonder if the landlord will be called as a witness?widowan wrote:Maybe they will think it's murder based on circumstantial evidence. I too think the pizza will have a role. The police put a lot of emphasize on that pizza box.

Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
The LL probably wouldn't be called in the US by the prosecution because he LIED and so of course he'd be the George Anthony of the case or the like.
If he gets called by the defense then he has to say he SAW her leaving with two men which is a lie or admit he made that up to throw suspicion off himself ... and then told his friend if questioned, don't mention that.
He is dodgy enough in appearance and story to gie the defense something to latch on to Although- he can also say that he was mistaken and then frightened, and that he told VT that Greg the BF was gone and going to stay gone the weekend. He can also discuss and embellish whatever he saw VT doing in the days before Cmas. He might not be a great witness for either side!
A pizza - such a humble, homey little thing, BF off for a guy's weekend out, the girl goes home to have her dinner and look forward to baking mince pies and sit in front of the fire with the cat and do her Cmas cards. Then a knock at the door, the Strangler enters and for no reason but his own sick ego etc., kills her dead and then calmly eats her supper. !!
He better say he threw it away becaue he didn't want the cat to eat it and get sick because if they think he ate it a good prosecutor could paint a good picture of how depraved he is.

Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
This story has today's date on it and is listed as an "update" - there is a copy of VT's CV and some background info on him but the motive appears to be that he had broken up with his GF?
-----------------
Mr Tabak moved into the one-bedroom flat three-and-a-half years ago when he started work at Bath-based engineering consultancy, Buro Happold.
The neighbour, who didn’t wish to be named, said the ‘quiet and helpful’ man would often invite friends and family from Holland to his rented home in fashionable Walcot Parade.
In 2009, Mr Tabak moved into Flat 2 at 44 Canynge Road with his girlfriend, lawyer’s daughter Tanja Morson, 34.
Jo Yeates lived at No 4 with her boyfriend, Greg Reardon.
‘She (Miss Morson) was an occasional visitor and he told me that he wanted a bigger place they could share in Bristol,’ said the former Bath neighbour.
The Dutch architect arrested on suspicion of the murder of Joanna Yeates recently split up with his girlfriend, it was claimed yesterday.
Vincent Tabak, 32, had lived with 34-year-old Tanja Morson in the flat next door to Miss Yeates.
But yesterday, as another witness spoke of hearing cries from the building on the night Miss Yeates disappeared, neighbours said they had not seen Miss Morson there for months, and suggested the relationship had come to an end.
Instead they recalled Tabak arriving and leaving the basement flat alone, with one commenting: ‘The last time I saw her [Tanja] was around September.
‘I assumed that they had split up as I hadn’t seen her for so long.’
Another confirmed she had not seen Miss Morson for several months, while a third said: ‘I’d seen the man but I hadn’t really seen a girlfriend around in the weeks leading up to what happened.’
Yesterday, as detectives were granted extra time to question Tabak, Miss Morson turned up for work as usual at Dyson, in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, where she is a financial analyst. A colleague confirmed she was there, but was not taking calls.
Her father yesterday insisted that it was ‘absurd’ to suggest that Miss Morson and Tabak were no longer an item. But on the day Tabak was arrested he had been rather less sure about the status of his daughter’s relationship with the suspect, saying: ‘I do not know if he is her boyfriend or not.

they seem to be dovetailing in the absent girlfriend or break up, with the sexual assault as part of a motive.

Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
here the killer states that although he did not know her he was deeply saddened by her death!
Five days before his arrest he was spoken to by reporters in Bristol as he returned from a ride on his black mountain bike.
He said: "I only come back here for weekends for now with all the upset. I don't know anyone who saw or heard anything.
It's very upsetting that something like this has happened.
"This is a nice, safe, friendly area. The feeling around here is not a nice one now. It's as if the area has been blighted.
"We are all very sad about it and although I didn't know Miss Yeates, I'm deeply saddened by what happened."
-----------------------------------------
shame about the not nice feeling over there now! jeezus!
I will have to go and look where it said they had worked jointly on projects.

Off topic I know, but the world is full of sickos, child molesters, deviants, rapists, murderers, serial killers, terrorists, corrupt fraudulent politicians and do-gooders. Why do the current horde of weirdo do-gooders demand that the rights of these repulsive animals must not be violated when often times entire families are destroyed by their actions?
Whatever happened to standing up and fighting for a victims rights and the rule of justice?
Rant over.
