I think you are spot on. Or he thought they would be 'too busy' to pay the requisite attention to it. He got it spectacularly wrong.

There's a lot of poverty out there isn't there? Maybe he thought he everyone would be blinded by his status as a millionnaire and that they could all be paid off, the way he tried to pay the driver off. He probably thought he was being very clever. He thought that nobody would wonder at a woman being sexually assaulted in South Africa.

Re: LATEST NEWS ON DEWANI MURDER
I looked at the slide show, it's obvious Anni's father is devasted. It's awful to think that someone would do this. What I don't understand is why did Dewani actually go ahead with the marriage if he didn't want his wife. Is there an ulterior motive or is he deranged ?

In fact she was NOT sexually assaulted. That was one of the first red flags.

Oh, I hear the dark siders have been tittering and sniggering because 'we' (probably I) think the husband 'DID IT'. I guess they'll have to find something else to titter about now. Probably carry on amongst themselves about how I announced over 3 years ago - quite emphatically - that Madeleine was dead. Well every day that has passed since then has vindicated that statement, hasn't it?

I hope not. That's one thing to be thankful for. But my point is that he may have been playing to a stereotype of South Africa with this whole set up.
Poor woman.

Re: LATEST NEWS ON DEWANI MURDER
Breaking News, Tonga, one of the accused has testified that he and the others were approached by Dewani to kill someone, but didn"t
know it was his Wife, says they received £1300 each and she was shot in the back of the neck. He has been sentenced to 18 yrs in
Prison. Max Clifford swears his client is innocent although at the moment he does not want to return to Africa because of the trauma
of his wife"s death.
I havn"t been following this case but why would he want his Wife killed on their Wedding day.?

It was two weeks after the wedding, Panda. They were here on 'honeymoon'. Some honeymoon, eh :-(

Was she an Heiress or something? To hire Men to kill your wife is premeditated, apparentlyTonga was offered a plea bargain to testify against Dewani. To be honest, it"s all very bizarre.

Her family is also wealthy, but hubby claims there was no policy on her life. With his company being in such enormous debt, we shall see.

There was a report about their honeymoon flight,Panda, where witnesses said that the wife was in tears and sat apart from Dewani.
Re: LATEST NEWS ON DEWANI MURDER
There is the possibility that the husband is innocent, but someone else in the 'family' disaproved of the marriage and made the arrangements.

Was always a possibility. But texts exchanged between the driver and Dewani would suggest otherwise.

Looks like its over for Dewani. Will he appear voluntarily or will it require an extradition? As I understand it he could even be prosecuted in the UK itself. Is this correct?
Although we know the press can be full of carp l think if this comes to pass it will be further confirmation IMO that there were some truth in other headlines too.

Just read the report in the DM. It's like Groundhog Day: the police want to 'set up' a non-South African, the allegations against Dewani are 'ludicrous', the police have assured him that he is not a suspect, the police have been leaking details to the press...

Yes. The headlines which were airbrushed out of history. Has Shrien Dewani hired extradition lawyers yet? And is he in talks with any leading libel firms yet?

I don't know about extradition lawyers, I wonder how Dewani can afford to hire Max Clifford when his business is said to be millions of pounds in debt. Anyway, what would be going through your head to hire someone well versed in reputation protection and personal damage limitation when you've so recently lost a close family member ? Was this considered normal practice in certain circles before the McCanns did it?

Dewani now arrested for his part in murder

He's handed himself in to police, which suggests he believes the game's up.

Honeymoon Murder Victim's Husband Arrested 3:30am UK, Wednesday December 08, 2010
Andy Winter, Sky News Online
A British man accused of paying to have his wife killed on their honeymoon in Cape Town has been arrested at the request of South African authorities.
Shrien Dewani has handed himself in at a Bristol police station and is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
Anni Dewani, 28, was shot dead after the couple's car was hijacked late at night in a township on the outskirts of the city in November.
Mr Dewani was released unharmed.
Yesterday, taxi driver Zola Tongo claimed Mr Dewani paid him 15,000 rand (£1,377) to have her killed as he was sentenced in South Africa for his part in the murder.
Shrien and Anni Dewani's car was hijacked in a Cape Town township
The Dewani family has labelled the allegation as "ludicrous".
In a statement, they said: "Shrien is totally innocent of any involvement in this heinous crime.
"These allegations are totally ludicrous and very hurtful to a young man who is grieving the loss of the woman he loved, his chosen life partner."
A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Extradition Unit have arrested Shrien Prakash Dewani, 30, on behalf of the South African authorities.
"He is due to appear in custody at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court later today."
From day one his statements were deceptivem i don't know why he had wifey killed but i am betting money was a reason. His company was millions in debt, did he have a secret insurance policy on her? Was he having an affair with another woman? clearly things weren't right if she refused to sit next to him on the plane.
I bet he didn't think the taxi driver would do a plea deal and i bet he thought he was safe if he legged it back to the UK.

Hmmmm ... 'hurtful' too. Rent-a-gob language may be ok for celeb divorce cases and the like, but for serious criminal investigations, Mitchell's and Clifford's pink-shirted PR approach is totally inappropriate. Actually, it's getting to the stage where if anyone involved in a criminal investigation hires a PR spokes person, they automatically make themselves look guilty to me.

Max Clifford is apparently 'unavailable' this morning. Not surprising, really - he should have been more careful when he placed his bet on this horse. Anyone in CT could have given him a better tip.
