The boyfriend of a missing 22-year-old woman has made a tearful appeal for information about her as police search a Wiltshire forest where her phone was traced to.
Sian O'Callaghan has not been seen since the early hours of Saturday morning, when she left a Swindon club alone.
She had spent the night out with friends in the city's Old Town area but after leaving the Japanese-themed Suju club at 2.50am, she failed to return home.
Her boyfriend Kevin Reape was not out with them and raised the alarm later on Saturday morning after waiting for her all night.
Miss O'Callaghan's family and friends have not heard from her, which police said was "not only unusual for her, but is something that she has never done before".
Chief Inspector Mike Jones of Wiltshire Police said: "Sian doesn't appear to have any reason in her personal life that would indicate that she might want to leave the area.
Sian O'Callaghan went out on Friday night with friends to the Suju club in Swindon
"She is normally an avid Facebook user, but has not used her account since earlier in the day on Friday."
Fighting back tears, Mr Reape told a media conference: "I just want to say how worried we are about Sian.
"Someone out there must know where she is. This is a terrible time for all of us and we are hoping for her safe return."
Officers have been combing the 4,500-acre Savernake Forest for any clues to her whereabouts.
For Sian not to return home after a night out and not make any contact with friends or family is not only unusual for her, but is something that she has never done before.
Chief Inspector Mike Jones of Wiltshire Police
Wiltshire Police said Miss O'Callaghan's phone was in the forest at 3.24am on Saturday morning.
The forest is near Marlborough, 12 miles from Swindon, and is privately owned by the Earl of Cardigan and his family.
Chief Insp Jones urged anyone with information to come forward and contact police.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to appeal directly to Sian and ask her to make contact with her family or police to let us know that she is okay," he added.
Police would like to speak to those who may have knowledge of people or vehicles moving around Old Town between 3.15-4am on Saturday.
Wiltshire Police have been searching the Savernake Forest
Miss O'Callaghan is white, 5ft 3in tall, of medium build, with brown hair cut in an asymmetric style and green eyes.
She was wearing a grey dress, black bolero-style jacket, dark tights and flat boots when she was last seen, and was carrying a dark handbag with a beige flower attached.
Wiltshire Police confirmed Miss O'Callaghan was assaulted in the toilets of the same nightclub in October 2008, when another woman punched her.
However, a force spokeswoman said that incident was "not a focus of the investigation at the moment".
:: Anyone with information can contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Yes, very worrying, especially the fact that they traced her mobile to the forest.
There is also the case of Jia Ashton - found murdered.
Both, young women in their prime.
I hope Sian is found safe... but it's not looking good.

It's not looking good. As mumbles says, another young woman missing. Are there more going missing or is it that we are just paying more attention?

Hi Mumbles, I agree it's not looking good.
Just read...that Sian disappeared after telling one pal she would see her on the dance floor in "ten to 15 minutes" once she had finished chatting to another girl outside, wonder why she never went back.
I just wish these young people would realise how dangerous it seems to be walking alone in late hours. I suppose when your young you think you are invincible. Please let her be found safe.

Police Search For Missing Clubber In Woods

Katie Stallard, West of England correspondent in Savernake Forest
Friends and volunteers have joined police to search for missing Sian O'Callaghan, combing a vast area of woodland in Wiltshire.
Miss O'Callaghan, 22, was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning leaving Japanese-themed nightclub Suju in Swindon.
She had been to the club with girlfriends but became separated from them on the dancefloor and left the club alone at 2.52am.
Her mobile phone was traced to an area of Savernake Forest, around 15 miles away, 32 minutes later, when it received a text message from her boyfriend saying: 'worried x'.
Nothing has been heard from Miss O'Callaghan since.
POlice have traced Sian O'Callaghan's phone to Savernake Forest
The local mast that relayed the message covers an area of around six miles but detectives have been unable to narrow this down further.
Detectives said volunteers could help and asked them to meet at the Postern Hill forestry commission site at the entrance to the forest.
Specialist search teams with police dogs have also resumed their search of the 4500 acre site.
The police asked people only to attend if they were fit and well as the terrain is rough, dense woodland.
Volunteers were advised to bring suitable footwear and clothing, and not to search alone.
They were issued with maps and told: 'If you find anything, it is very important that you do not touch it. Report to a police officer immediately.'
An anonymous donor has now offered a £20,000 reward in return for help to find the missing clubber.
People searching Savernake Forest in Wiltshire for Sian O'Callaghan
Wiltshire Police had earlier released footage of Miss O'Callaghan alone in the nightclub in the hope it might jog revellers' memories.
It shows her walking down stairs and going round a corner out of shot and into another room.
The black and white footage continues showing her walking through the club'sentrance and outside, still by herself, past a small group of men.
Police stressed the times shown on the CCTV were approximately six minutes slow and urged anyone who remembered seeing her to contact them.
Miss O'Callaghan's tearful boyfriend said on Monday: "We all want to know where Sian is and we want her home safe and well. Sian is a bubbly, lively person and is instantly liked by everyone she meets."
It was Mr Reape, 26, who raised the alarm at 9.45am on Saturday when he realised girlfriend had not returned to their flat.
He said: "Someone out there must have seen or known where she is and we just want them to come forward and contact thepolice.
"This is a terrible time for all of us and we are praying for Sian's safe return. If Sian is listening and doesn't want to contact us, I beg her to at least ring the police."
Detectives have said Mr Reape is not a suspect, and is being treated as a witness in the case.
Miss O'Callaghan is described as white, 5ft 3in tall, of medium build with brown asymmetric hair and green eyes.
She was wearing a grey dress, black bolero-style jacket, dark-coloured tights and flat boots and carrying a dark handbag with a beige flower when she was last seen.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
I noticed the police have very quickly ruled out the boyfriend of being a suspect in this case. It is not looking good.

Sian O'Callaghan search: Was missing clubber lured into car on way home?
by Richard Smith and Tom Pettifor, Daily Mirror 23/03/2011
Detectives believe missing Sian O’Callaghan may have been lured into a vehicle on a busy road seconds after leaving a nightclub alone.
And it was revealed a mystery donor has put up a £20,000 reward for information leading directly to Sian, 22, being found.
Police suspect she was abducted outside Suju club in Swindon under the noses of late-night revellers, doormen and cabbies.
Hundreds of volunteers yesterday searched woods where Sian’s mobile phone signal was detected after she vanished.
It was also revealed two other women in the town have since been involved in worrying incidents with passing drivers. Two men tried to coax a 28-year-old woman into a car the night after Sian vanished.
She said two dark-skinned foreigners approached her as she was out walking alone on Saturday night two miles from the nightclub where Sian was last seen.
A police spokesman said: “At this time, it is not appropriate for us to comment further.”
And a 20-year-old woman was yesterday morning assaulted by a motorist who had gestured to her as he passed her less than a mile from where Sian lived. She was left very shaken and police are hunting a white man in his mid-50s with grey hair and a gaunt face – but did not believe the attack was connected to Sian’s disappearance.
Advertisement - article continues below »
Police say there were no cameras outside Suju, the club Sian was last seen leaving on CCTV, and it was not clear if she made it to two nearby that would have filmed her heading home.
A source said: “CCTV is currently being checked. One line of inquiry is that Sian got into a vehicle in the moments after she left the club.” Police are also quizzing all taxi drivers in the area.
Sian, personal assistant to a company director, disappeared after she left the club at 2.52am on Saturday to walk the half mile to the flat she shares with boyfriend Kevin Reape, 24, a quantity surveyor – who police say is not a suspect.
A phone mast picked up a signal to her mobile in the Savernake Forest 32 minutes later when Kevin texted her the unanswered message “Worried x”.
Relatives and friends were joined by more than 100 volunteers, supervised by police, who searched the forest yesterday.
At least another 100 went off on their own hunt, turned away from the official search because there were not enough trained officers to supervise them.
The 4,500-acre forest is about 12 miles from the club where Sian had been with three girlfriends while Kevin spent the day with pals at Cheltenham races.
Sniffer dogs were used in the continuing search and a helicopter hovered above.

Sky News refers to 'Clubber Sian,' which I find quite demeaning. She was/is someone who had just been to a club.

Re: Appeal For Help To Find Missing Swindon Woman
Hardlinemarxist lates report.
Police have said they are focusing on a number of "hot spots" and following "significant lines of inquiry" in the search for missing clubber Sian O'Callaghan.
Detectives said they had narrowed "considerably" their search parameters after recovering new data from Miss O'Callaghan's mobile phone.
Miss O'Callaghan, 22, was last seen leaving a Swindon nightclub alone at around 3am on Saturday morning.
Her phone was traced to the 4,500-acre Savernake Forest, near Marlborough, around 15 miles away, 32 minutes later.
Detectives have said this journey could only have been made by car - and estimate it would have taken 20 to 25 minutes to drive between the two locations at that time of the morning.
Friends searched Savernake Forest for clues
Officers declined to give geographical details, but said they were now concentrating on specific points, or "hot spots" within the forest, where they were more likely to find evidence.
Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Steve Hedley, leading the investigation, said: "We have some data relating to Sian's telephone and as well as the searches here, we have been doing some research in relation to that data.
"That has given us some more information, which gives us more specific points in these woods that we need to search."
Police had earlier appealed for volunteers not to come to the search site so specialist officers could focus on the investigation.
Police have released CCTV of Miss O'Callaghan leaving the nightclub
Detectives said "significant lines of enquiry" were being developed and large areas of the 4,500 acre forest had been ruled out.
Around 400 friends and volunteers joined specialist police search teams scouring the dense forest on Tuesday.
Miss O'Callaghan's boyfriend, Kevin Reape, was said to have been among them - but police have stressed he is not a suspect and is being treated as a witness.
The 25-year-old quantity surveyor had sent his girlfriend a text message in the early hours of Saturday morning saying: 'worried x'.
A poster appealing for information relating to Miss O'Callaghan's disappareance
It was this message, relayed by a mast at Cadley on the edge of the forest, which enabled detectives to pinpoint Miss O'Callaghan's phone to within this area of woodland.
As the search for Miss O'Callaghan stepped up, an anonymous donor offered a £20,000 reward for information leading directly to her whereabouts.
Police have also released CCTV images of the office administrator leaving the Suju nightclub on Saturday and have appealed for help finding her LG E900 Optimus mobile phone.
Anyone who was in the High Street of Swindon's Old Town at around 3am, or saw any vehicles between Swindon and Savernake between 3am and 4am should also speak to police.
Miss O'Callaghan is described as white, 5ft 3in tall, of medium build with brown asymmetric hair and green eyes.
When last seen, she was wearing a grey dress, black bolero-style jacket, dark-coloured tights and flat boots. She was carrying a dark handbag with a beige flower attached.

Thanks Panda. This is interesting and fills me with dread about the police having an idea they're going to find Sian's body in that area.

Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher said: "We have made good progress in narrowing the search using a number of technologies and techniques and I believe we are getting very close to identifying Sian’s whereabouts.
"Searches will be limited by available daylight but we will be further assisted by specialist dog teams who arrive tomorrow and resume the search effort as soon as daylight permits."

Hi Panda, l've just seen the update on sky and agree it sounds like they're looking for a body but l don't get it, how do they know? Maybe the murderer is taunting them?
It's very odd to announce they are getting closer to her whereabouts, if she was alive they wouldn't do this and put her in danger would they? Poor girl.

It's very odd to announce they are getting closer to her whereabouts, if she was alive they wouldn't do this and put her in danger would they? Poor girl.
Hi Margaret,
Just about to report breaking News. Police are urgently seeking a Green Toyota Avensis Taxi .look like they have got their man. It was apparently
seen twice , once in the Woods Area and once in the Town Centre.

Thank you Panda. Lets hope what ever the outcome and it doesn't look good, that its not prolonged for her family. It must be hell for them to cope.

Hi Margaret, not sure but think they are using a helicopter with heat-seeking equipment.

I would like to think so too, but doubt it. It looks like she hailed a Taxi and the Driver attacked her and hid her body in the Woods. Or possibly there was
a passenger in the car and the Police are searching the for Taxi Driver to interview him. Whoever dumped her body made sure it would not easily be found,
those Woods are massive, sky News showing Police still searching.
