Re: Footie Thread...................
And while the hard working players of the lower leagues are tucking into their fish and chips and wondering how they are going to pay the mortgage when their playing careers come to an end the overpaid prima donnas are having a bit of a holiday.
Rio Ferdinand (gone off in a sulk) turned down the chance to play for his country so he could enjoy a few days in the sun with his feet up.

Re: Footie Thread...................
Big game tonight is World Cup Qualifier.
Montenegro v England
Wayne Rooney leads the line for England but the centre backs look a bit suspect to me.
Already fighting amongst themselves the 'ex' Yugoslav fans will make for a hostile atmosphere.
England are going to win this with their better discipline.

Re: Footie Thread...................
To be fair the Montenegro fans behaved well for the National Anthems.
I remember going to Yugoslavia in 1978 (my honeymoon ! ).What a desperately poverty stricken place it looked then.
We went to a 'bar' one night and there were groups of half shaven men carving their names in the wooden tables,it was easily the most fearsome sight i have ever seen, and i have followed Millwall all over the country for the last 40 years !

I saw that goal. Brilliant!
Re: Footie Thread...................
Half time and its Montenegro 0-1 England
England look a class above their third World opposition but it remains a slender lead so we need another goal.Well done to the England players who are earning their corn tonight amidst the monkey chants and missiles being thrown every time an England player goes near the touchline.

Re: Footie Thread...................
Well just as we thought England were getting good it all goes wobbly in the second half we were outplayed and once again failed to complete the job.
Montenegro 1-1 England
Still a lot of work to do if we are to qualify from this group.

Yes,i have not been a big fan of Rooney since the SA World Cup but he looked good in the first half and so does his new hair, but he didn't get a sniff in the second half.

Re: Footie Thread...................
And it finishes. Leicester City 0-1 Millwall
The Lions seem to be getting quite good at these televised games.
Alan Dunne scores late on for Millwall grabbing 3 points for the Lions and a well deserved victory against 10 man Leicester who had their captain sent off after just 3 minutes.

Yes it was, happy we got 50 points now which is generally considered the safe from relegation target so now we just need to get focused for the semi final cup game and get some injured players back fit.

Re: Footie Thread...................
FA Cup 6th round replay.....
Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd
Well done Chelsea and great goal by Mr Ba.
Chelsea through to the FA Cup semi final v Man City.
Somehow seems a bit odd that Millwall and even more so wigan are now in such illustrious company.
Would be great to see a Chelsea v Millwall Cup final.
We can dream on and i dont think the Met would be too happy.

Re: Footie Thread...................
Some 'Europa League' games tonight.Thats for teams that couldn't hack it in the Champions league.
Currently Newcastle drawing 1-1 away to Benfica
Chelsea coasting 2-0 at home to Rubin Kazan (whoever they are ?)
And Tottenham just pulled back a goal at home to FC Basel having looked thoroughly shocked to go 2-0 down and Scott Parker just missed an open goal.
