Well said, that man.

I noticed the fighting on the #mccann hashtag on Twitter has increased even more lately. My view is that this is done in order to put people off looking there as they might read me interesting stuff. I sometimes have a look and its hard to see what's really going on as there's so much fighting.

OMG trouble is brewing big time isnt it, they are so desperate now whether it be Twitter , FB or the forums, its too much too late imo.......bring on Feb 9th

Not much those nutters can do - I find it hard to see how they could prejudice a Libel Hearing, so they are getting themselves worked up into a lather over nothing.

Mind you, it seems likely that information may emerge during that Hearing that could shed much light on exactly how Madeleine "disappeared" and who was responsible (or irresponsible, if you like).

There'll be suds all over the shop then!

Yes lets hope it is information coming from the Scotland Yard Review and also Snr Amarals held back evidence!!!

I've been to my friends and noticed that Pavia is facebook friends with Justine Spencer. I am sad that he gives her a special mention as being abused personally and professionally as she has been one of the worst on twitter abusing Warren Thornton and sharing his personal details and accusing him of serious crimes (no wonder he & others wanted to fight back).


If you are reading this Ricardo please be aware that the abuse cuts both ways and there is far more from those supporting the McCanns than the other way around.

Hmm!!! got to question why Pavia would have this Spencer woman as a friend never mind devending her, she is a 100% supporter of the McCanns, Pavia has just gone down in my estimations, Ive seen first hand on FB the workings of Justine Spencer.

Portuguese police convinced themselves Madeleine McCann's parents faked her abduction, despite having no evidence against them, a court was told yesterday.

Officers leading the investigation into the three-year-old's disappearance believed she died in a 'tragic accident' and that her parents hid her body, a senior detective admitted yesterday.

The dramatic confession was made during a tense legal battle in a Portuguese courtroom, played out in front of Kate and Gerry McCann.

After almost three years of leaks, slurs and innuendo, Inspector Tavares Almeida laid bare unsubstantiated police suspicions against the couple.

It was the first time any Portuguese police officer has spoken publicly about the decision to name the McCanns as arguidos, or official suspects.

Mr Almeida said the decision was taken after he filed a damning report to the Portuguese prosecutor in September 2007, four months after Madeleine's disappearance.

'The conclusion arrived at in the report was that Madeleine McCann died in the apartment and that the McCanns simulated the abduction,' he said.

'So they are suspects. It was a tragic accident in the apartment that night.'

Mr McCann shook his head in disbelief as Mr Almeida gave his evidence on behalf of his former senior officer, disgraced detective Goncalo Amaral.

He put his arm around his wife as they sat in the public gallery of the court. (I can imagine the bad acting)

The couple, both 41, have accused Mr Amaral of libel after he wrote a book accusing them of covering up their daughter's death.

Yesterday's hearing was part of that £1million libel case.

Mr Almeida claimed that British police had also believed the McCanns were involved after Madeleine vanished from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.

'We all believe she is dead,' he declared defiantly. 'It was our conclusion as police professionals, both Portuguese and British police. The McCanns didn't kill her but they concealed the body.'

Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment while her parents ate dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant on May 3, 2007.

The McCanns led a worldwide campaign to find her, but there have been no confirmed sightings.

A second officer, Ricardo Paiva, said Portuguese police were suspicious of the couple's 'merchandising' operation in the months after Maddie disappeared. The Madeleine Fund they set up sold wristbands and T-shirts publicising the case and used the money to support the search.

Mr Paiva said they should have faced prosecution for leaving their children alone, saying: 'People have been arrested for far less - even in the UK.'

He admitted that Mr Amaral's conviction about the McCanns' involvement had stopped police from investigating other theories.

But the only evidence the Portuguese police could amass against the McCanns was the reaction of sniffer dogs sent into the couple's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, which smelled 'the scent of death'.

The performance of the dogs has been called into question after they also reacted to remains at Haut de la Garenne orphanage in Jersey, which were later found to be animal bones.

Mr and Mrs McCann, both doctors, were finally cleared when the police investigation was officially shelved because of a lack of evidence.

Mr Amaral, 49, was sacked from the investigation after launching an outspoken attack against British police.

Speaking after the hearing, McCann family spokesman Claudia Nogueira said the couple, of Rothley, Leicestershire, had been 'hurt' by the day's allegations.

She said: 'However, they know what really happened, so they're confident. They just want to find their daughter.'

The case continues.

Interesting comment that the British Police were also of the assumption the mcs were involved somehow, that won't have changed because of the review and Mr.Paiva says he's still involved in the case l say GOOD NEWS.

It has to make you (me) worry if Paiva is defending one of the worst of the trolls. Will she be able to influence him in the Lisbon trial - I imagine that is her reasons behind this. Justine has been incredibly abusive and libellous about WT on twitter (he threatened her with a solicitor and now she isn't on there anymore - well not under her own name).

He is right, by people abusing her (not that I know who he is either butwill google in a minute) they are just lowering themselves to her level and that of the Mccann's! The general public that don't follow this case would instantly dismiss valid arguments against the Mccann's if it is surrounded by vitriol.

I agree. One cannot defeat nastiness by being nasty oneself.

Paiva seems to be smoothing the waters - Perhaps he sees any bickering, trolling and other unpleasant activity as a distraction from the importance of imminent events?

Actually googling Ricardo Paiva with or without quotation marks gives lots of information about him.

And Amaral claims he got taken off the case because he was talking out of turn to journalists about the case. Its all in his book.

And did Paiva really take over after Amaral was taken off the case? Didn't Rebelo come into the picture somewhere?

Just asking.

Because I wouldn't want my understanding to be clouded by the facts.

Ricardo Paiva did not take over the case when Gonçalo Amaral was taken off of it, it was Paulo Rebelo who came to take over the position as coordinator.

It really is unfortunate that people spread such false information about the case isn't it.

Ricardo Paiva was the family liaison officer. It was Paulo Rebelo who took over from Amaral.

It's not the REAL person I'm afraid.....
