Did he not turn up at the Portimao arguido interviews to their surprise ?
Paulo Rebello took over from Amaral.
Correct. It amazes me that people don't know who the key characters in the case are.
Some may not who are new to the case but I am sure most of us know the facts in the case.
You can also use the search button on front of the page and type Ricardo Paiva or another name and mostly you get your information

I never said you didn't believe her. What makes you think that?
Platinum, by saying this..
Has this David Bret got a good pedigree for posting the truth?
Has this David Bret provided evidence to show that it isn't the real Paiva?
I have a suspicion that more are likely to believe HideHo after her sterling work here.
Just my feeling of course.
...you are implying a belief in David Bret rather than HiDeHo. You are either deliberately twisting someone's words, or you are thick as two short planks. I believe it's the former and if this carries on, I shall assume that you are only here to cause trouble and you will be gone.
Re: Facebook/Ricardo Paiva
Iv"e just been playing catch-up and this remark caught my attention.
Mr Paiva said they should have faced prosecution for leaving their
children alone, saying: 'People have been arrested for far less - even
in the UK.'
He admitted that Mr Amaral's conviction about the McCanns' involvement had stopped police from investigating other theories."
What could these other theories be, apart from abduction,

I personally think that Ricardo Paiva has a lot of information which hasn't been disclosed. He is still in contact and friendly with Goncalo Amaral and regularly socialises with him and my friend's husband. I think he would be able to set a lot of cats amongst a lot of pigeons.

I repeat I did not say that anyone (myself or any other poster) did not believe HideHo.
I asked whether there was anything positive to base a belief in Bret upon.
Then I explained that I did not think Bret would be believed by many on this forum over HideHo as her work is well known and respected.
If you think that makes me thick or malicious then that is your opinion and as you have stated we are entitled to opinions. But neither of those motives are actually true of me. I would like to see truth emerge about what happened, that is all.

Please delete it Anna, it's playing games on the back of a missing 3 year old child, that's despicable.

OK, platinum, I think you're in the wrong place. It's pretty obvious what you meant by that comment. Yes, this is a discussion board, where people express opinions. Your opinions are consistently self-righteous twaddle and mostly intended to annoy. So, I think you should find a forum more suited to your particular way of expressing your opinions.

In the beginning I thought that the post was from RP but I am beginning to think that this is not his post. When I look at his mural on FB, this post is not there. Furthermore, from what people who know him personally have told me, this is totally out of character for him to write such a post. With his work, I would be surprised if he looked at his FB page more than every 3 months and he would never write about the case or his work. Perhaps it is a way for the McCanns to discredit him as witness if he were to be called at the libel hearing in February.

Re: Facebook/Ricardo Paiva
I don't mind at all if people have differing, even wildly opposing views - 'tis the essence of debate: But people like that have no concept of rational, cogent, logical debate and try to impose their own narrow, stifling "debating" protocols.
It's a shame, really, as it does no harm to be open to having ones mind changed. The trouble is, it becomes counter-productive as one soon gets sick to the back teeth of their strident, bullying, hectoring approach.
And they rarely, if ever, seem to mention Madeleine. Why?

Dirty tricks. Could well be someone trying to discredit him or get the case thrown out on a technicality?
People are getting desperate....... someone needs to get in touch with the real RP and alert him ASAP.

Ricardo Paiva letter, a spoof ?
Re Annabel’s post 18.25, yesterday, with the supposed Ricardo Paiva letter:-
Just got in from work, not had time to catch up on messages but in my opinion, (and I work in 6 different languages) unless the person who wrote this letter is completely and utterly BI-lingual, I cannot believe that this article (assigned to Ricardo Paiva) has been written by a Portuguese person.
The letter shows mastery of really complex English constructions and colloquialisms and is just too English.
I am also surprised that the “real Paiva” would (a) speak out when still part of a supposed Portuguese investigation, and (b) why he would pick out, name and support Justine Spencer so openly when in his NEW YEAR message he could pick on so many other more relevant things to pass comment on.
Are we sure this is not a spoof or impersonation?

Welcome "want the truth" ............ so do we all.
It is typical of this farrago that there are (regardless of whether it is true in this specific instance) some people seriously intent on misleading.
One has to wonder why? Do they realise, perhaps, that their arguments are weak and perhaps are about to be holed altogether?

Hi Kitti I don't believe that post came from Ricardo Paiva, I believe it's from the same person who pretended to be Tony Bennett. These people who are playing these games don't give a damn about this case. They are not McCann or Madeleine supporters, they are just out for a bit of fun. The only way they get their kicks is to trawl internet sites, spreading their vile posts.

Tend to agree with this - we need challenges in order to keep balance, but it gradually became obvious that said poster was not a genuine questioner but something very malefic.

Just fixed an internet glitch after 45,000 hrs on the phone...
I agree that it has the possibility of being a fake, but, how does this fake have an account with 200 friends, many from Portugal and with Goncalo and Sofia as friends as well as their family?

Thats what I don't understand either, it looks to be a genuine account and family members appear to be posting on it. If it is fake then it is a very convincing hoax and tbh do not understand how it would be possible as surely his friends and family would know. But then I question would an officer involved be joining FB Groups to discuss the case with others and get involved in personal issues?

Is it possible for anyone to check directly and put an end to the speculation?
If it IS a fake then surely that would have major consequences.
