Re: It's just been on BBC news 6 pm
The libel trial is now provisionally set for Sept 13th.
I think Duarte just shoots her mouth off willy-nilly - and I also think that (albeit unwittingly), she has shafted her clients.

Goncalo Amaral Libel Trial - provisional date 13 SEPTEMBER 2012
Post by Tony Bennett on Thu Apr 19, 2012 4:57 pm
«I have today been served with new papers by Carter-Ruck in connection with the committal-to-prison trial on 9 and 10 May [start: 10.00am prompt, Wednesday 9 May].
Amongst the papers supplied is an on-the-record statement by Carter-Ruck Partner, Isabel Hudson, and I quote:
"While my firm is not instructed in the libel proceedings instigated in Portugal by the Claimants [Drs Gerald and Kate McCann] against Goncalo Amaral, I understand that...the case is proceeding to a full libel trial, and that a provisional date of 13 September 2012 has been given for the trial".»

re the papers issued to Tony Bennet, what is the significance of advising that the Libel trial claimants K and G McC will continue to full libel trial against Dr G Amaral in September. Does Carter Ruck think that although they do not represent the McCs in Portugal it would have a bearing on TB s case? just seems strange to me.

Call me an eternal optimist but just how can they whitewash with closure for the family, the only evidence i know of Madeleines death is from apartment 5A,the Mccanns hire car & their items of clothing...They cant spend x amount of millions in both countries to conclude...oh yes the Mccanns are right,Maddie was abducted but we dont know by who...
Im in the naive optimist camp

You all missed the significant (for me) part.
"The parents said that when they returned, she was gone."
Not, "When the parents returned, she was gone".
It's right at the start of the clip.

CR are aggressive lawyers - they MO is offensive. Their reputation goes before them. Just look who they act for - Scientology being one whose MO is attack, demean, threaten, belittle. I`m sure this was a little reminder to try and unnerve Tony. Its how they work.

Re: It's just been on BBC news 6 pm
I noticed the "the parents said" comment too. Small but significant.
I found the "British police will be awesome where the failing Portuguese police of fail failed miserably" tone to the report insulting, as well as the insinuation that Amaral is trying to make money off the poor helpless McCanns, but on the flipside I hope that them saying that everybody in Portugal believes Amaral's conclusions will make at least some people wonder why that is. My parents don't really follow the case and as far as I know they still believe the abduction line, and they were both shocked by that part in a "why would everybody believe him if there wasn't something in that" kind of way.

For me, closure can only come with the re-opening of the case. I doubt it can come from a review alone. is this what Andy Redwood means? Have they found something which is so significant it could re-open the case? Anything else is just words and is meaningless.

There have been murmerings for 2-3 weeks of the case being reopened,so we live in hope that something significant has been discovered...that key piece of information...that missing piece of the jigsaw

so is the daily star going to reveal the new evidence.
Just a thought, is it possible that the conclusions of the SY Review will be used to bash Dr G Amaral in the libel case in September, and was the reason the McCs pushed for the prearranged (jimo) review.

This article seems to suggest that the UK review is going to enable this case to be solved. I really hope that it tells us things we don't already know. If it's a rehash of what's in the public arena, or what's in the private detective files, it'll be a complete travesty.
Has taxpayers money been used for one reason, to absolve the McCanns? If the outcome of this review is to 'prove' that they're not involved in what happened to Madeleine, then we need to see real evidence for this. If the review offers up no more proof of what happened than the Portuguese investigation, or we're told that there's no new evidence of what happened to Madeleine McCann, but the parents are innocent, then it'll be obvious that public money has been used in an unprecedented way to support two private individuals.

To be honest, my view of that clip is that it was giving a lot of information which is normally only dared mentioned on forums now.
Such as the theory of her death.... The language of the cop was promising for me as was his facial expression.
The emphasis on 'british' as well was used for a reason, to give authority and gravitas to whatever the results are of the investigation.
I really do feel hopeful RE: this and am not feeling a whitewash.
This Panorama episode clip does have the same feel as that of the one broadcast before the Stephen Lawrence murderers were brought to justice.
It is interesting the show was brought forward.... What will be released before then.. whats made it move quicker.... What does the bbc know now which has resulted in a change of scheduling!
Also: I note someone said that it isn't being shown in the north west. Isn't that leicestershire in the north west? Does that not mean that those poor souls in Rothley will not get to see thiis...
Showing this episode so near to The Apprentice will also ensure a huge audience! Prime time!

Edit to say May not can.
Maybe i'm tired and over analytical tonight however 'evidence' is an interesting choice of word to highlight.
Is not the term 'we have evidence' a direct response to The Mccann's who always say that 'there is no evidence'

Try as I might I cannot be positive about this statement to bring closure for the family. It stinks IMO - I do think the misinformation on the clip is ominous.
For me it's is PR for McCanns and possibly to demoralise Goncalo Amaral.
There a lot of it about - this White stuff. It appears the McCanns have friends/connections in every sphere.

The Mirror claim:'We have all the pieces of the jigsaw'...interesting headings, same story but found the following a little cheeky...
A statement on the McCanns’ website last night read: “Madeleine is still missing and someone needs to be looking for her.
"We love her dearly and miss her beyond words.”

Re: It's just been on BBC news 6 pm
I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt until I know otherwise, but IF there is a whitewash, then don't forget that 'Twitter' can be very effectively used as it was with The Telegraph and Trafigura.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/6316512/Trafigura-and-Carter-Ruck-end-attempt-to-gag-press-freedom-after-Twitter-uprising.html
Trafigura and Carter-Ruck end attempt to gag press freedom after Twitter uprising
An attempt by the oil firm Trafigura to prevent the British press from reporting on the activities of parliament has been abandoned, after an uprising by users of Twitter.
The Guardian this afternoon said that the law firm Carter-Ruck had ended its bid to ban the newspaper from publishing a parliamentary question about its client, one of the largest oil trading companies in the world.
Trafigura had obtained a gagging order preventing any details of the question posed by Paul Farrelly MP being made public last night, even though it is visible on the House of Commons website.
The order appeared to undermine a long-established law that reports of parliamentary proceedings are protected from legal action.
But there was enough information publicly available for tens of thousands of Twitter users to work out the focus of the injunction and post messages of protest identifying the parties involved.
The terms Trafigura, Carter-Ruck and Guardian were all pushed into the "trending topics" list of most used terms on the site this morning.

Re: It's just been on BBC news 6 pm
Its on the schedule for 7.30pm Wednesday night.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/programmes/schedules/london/today
Can be watched online:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/watchlive/
Download Expat Shield to watch from overseas (can watch Corrie also!)
http://download.cnet.com/Expat-Shield/3000-2092_4-75211377.html
Expat Shield is free but has (for obvious reasons) a few little aggravations (looks worse than it is...its no big deal:
-Once connected don't try to go to other webpages (it will redirect to Anchor Free page)
-Dont click onto any box that pops up (hotspotshield etc) either 'x' out or hold clicker down on title bar and move to another position (clicking on the boxes with change your settings for searching from Google eg to their search page)
- Every little while a new webpage will appear with a video that starts automatically. Pause the video rather than deleting the page to prevent more popping up immediately
Find the page to watch (ITV, BBC etc) and THEN connect, once the little shield turns green then refresh the TV page.
Once finished watching, disconnect on the task bar icon AND a new webpage that will appear after you try to disconnect. Click the red disconnect bar and you are back to normal. (just delete the 'Expatshield and Anchorfree and Technews tabs that have appeared while watching the live broadcast)
Its free so cant complain at a few little glitches...not when you can watch Brit TV online 24 hrs a day!
