Birch did inform the PJ and SY then he decided to " tell the world" as he says in the video, because he is so sure of his findings.
I remember a couple of years watching a crime programe on the discovery chanel, and the criminal forensic Police Officers were saying that more often then not the bodies of murdered/dead people are usually hidden not to far away from the scene of the crime

Maybe he was worried his information would be swept under the carpet? If he tells Sky then the public will get to hear about it and perhaps it will be checked out. I don't think this will come to anything but I can see why he contacted the media if he is so sure. Other parties in this case also phoned Sky News if I remember correctly.

Scotland Yard is very optimistic about the new tracks on the Madeleine case
The evidence presented yesterday by the South African businessman Stephen Birch suggest that the body might be buried in the garden of the local neighbor Missing the small
The British police were yesterday gathered to analyze the evidence presented by the South African businessman Stephen Birch, who claims to know where the body of Madeleine McCann . The Portuguese newspaper "Correio da Manha" which was the first to reveal the news, confirmed in its Monday edition that Scotland Yard is very hopeful with the new tracks that emerged around the Maddie case. The aforementioned employer ensures that the body is buried in the small garden of Robert Murat, the British citizen who lives next to the Ocean Club, local Missing Maddie. For its part, the Attorney General of the Republic (PRG) Lusa has reacted to new developments to report that the process will be reopened only "if there are new facts, credible and relevant and not mere hypotheses or speculation." If the Judicial Police (PJ) of the neighboring country wants to perform some due diligence needs require opening the case to prosecutors, who filed the process in July 2008.
Birch has concluded that the body is buried two feet deep
Five years after the disappearance of little Madeleine has become clear that the case continues to arouse great interest among the public that came in detail any new developments. While waiting to know whether the data provided by Birch allow a retrial, we discover more details of the work done by this businessman obsessed with solving the mystery. After four times invade the garden of Robert Murat with his machine geo radar (always at dawn, when he was not the owner) Birch has concluded that the body is buried two feet deep. Ensure that the ground was excavated "from 21:00 to 21:20 am on May 3 and Madeleine was buried between 22:05 and 22:15." This employer does not accuse without proof Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry McCann, but speaks of a suspicious figure, that of a British businessman who is the acronym GSA, who said he surfed with the father of Madeleine. Robert Murat also believes is foreign to the burial of the body of Madeleine
It also now know what the reaction of Murat himself, who after being considered a suspect in 2007 prosecuted for libel in the English press to receive compensation for damage to its image and person a total of 750 thousand euros a year later. He works at home and married a citizen Luso-British. For now Robert Murat says that the claims of South African entrepreneur "are crazy and stupid."

That must be just about the most mind boggling part of Birch's statements. He's psychic now? How very strange!

I don't agree with Stephen Birch having any contact with the media at all, especially at this stage as it not only alerts the person/persons responsible but it also makes the work far more difficult for those investigating the allegations along with the added attention to Rob Murat yet again, not forgetting his poor Mum Jenny.
Just my opinion.

In this case there has been mention before of a British businessman who was out there,
I thought it was said a CEO or senior official of a large Company.

Strange how Google translates 'M.J.S' from the original article into 'GSA'.
Just a small Friday-night observation - as you probably know, Google sometimes gives alternate translations if you click on a word. If you click on 'GSA' you get the original 'MJS' or, oddly, 'SYM'.
Given that the original article was seeming to refer to a person's initials, the latter acronym would give a middle initial 'Y'. I could only think of 'Yves', which would be very unusual for a Brit.
But by coincidence, 'SYM' as part of a name sounds familiar to PdL watchers ...
I think I'll stick with 'M.J.S' for now, before my silly head explodes ...

Your welcome, trying to find a pic of the exact location...
does Mr Birch mean behind the garage?
Find it unbelievable that Both police forces & the cvrd dog missed this location, the guy seems very plausible & a good explanation of the extra space found with this device after a body has decomposed...

I think you're naive if you can not consider the possibility that if this was true and he kept quiet it would be swept under the carpet.
So many people have dark connections to the Mccann's and there are so many dark interwebs and so many big names, personalities and 'credible' people have put their faith into the Mccann's story that there is going to be massive political fall out. It will be highly embarrassing.

I was rather surprised by the size of the machine, it resembled a lawn mower I thought and also the fact that he was being filmed INSIDE the Murats garden.
Now it looked to me as if he was just inside the boundary, concentrating on the garden path just a few meters inside the small gate.
