Going off topic a bit but there was a case in 1985 where a child was taken from a caravan and murdered while her mother was out drinking.

As far as I recall, the media was unanimous in its condemnation of her mother for leaving her asleep on her own. I seemed to be alone in feeling sorry for her as she would have to live with the consequences of her action for ever. Heaven knows I made some terrible decisions when my son was a child.

Somehow the McCanns were treated entirely differently..........like you Kathybelle and Bobsy I was sympathetic at first (and I didn't judge them for what they claimed to have done) but then, when it became obvious that there was something rotten in the state of Denmark, I realised we were being taken for jackasses.

I'm glad to learn that the creature who killed Leoni in 1985 is still in prison, rather than being released within a few years as so often happens.
