Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
After some time of reflection and after calming down, I will not leave this battle until justice has been done for Maddie. If the Portuguese authorities are involved as the SY states, it is virtually impossible for British to impose a whitewash without ruining the PJ's reputation which no police force would do to one another. I think that SY is trying desperately to justify the millions of pounds they have already spent and with no results whatsoever. 38 persons, why not 380 or 3? This is beyond ridiculous because they are still passing the ball back to the Portuguese.
Also, if they insist on the possibility that she is alive and they never find her, people will see that as a big, huge, enormous failure on their part.

OK, that's it. It's a white wash, can't be clearer as that. I don't know why... not sure if I want to know the reasons of this filthy business called "Met investigation". I'm disgusted.

So good to hear youre still here Carolina, I agree I think its more to do with justifying the incredible cost for this investigation. They have to try and show that they have something for their time and money. Not a lot anyway......... is it. Agree beyond ridiculous. Don't forget its headed up by a man Sir Bernard HH, who raised funds for the search for Madeleine. I wonder why no one seems to question this.

I'm disgusted too, but then to be honest this is no more than I ever expected, it's been whitewash and cover up from the very beginning. There must be some big reason for this but I doubt we will ever know what.

mara thon if there is I have no doubt that at some point in the future something will come to light, and I firmly agree that justice will be done. maybe not in the way we expect it to be done, but I believe karma has a way of sorting things.

Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
The Sun is reporting "None of the 38 people identified are known to the McCanns."
Have the 38 actually been acknowledged (named) officially? Or, has this list been compiled after the main "witnesses" were interviewed and ruled out? I just can't believe the parents can be "ruled out" based on their refusal to co-operate with the search and Portugese investigation from day one. What innocent parent would do that?
I'm beginning to lean towards 'whitewash', much as I don't want to.

Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
Today SY nailed their colours to the mast. Whilst on the one hand there was nothing new, they themselves have now publically stated they are in charge, they are now investigating no longer reviewing. No longer is this twitter rumour and press speculation. It is now confirmed fact. Therefore, they have now undertaken to come to a conclusion, they have put the ball in their on court in a very public manner. They will eventually have to give a credible explanation as to what happened.
Now the 64 million dollar question - will the McCanns up date their website and stop begging ? There is now a polic force actively looking for their child. They no longer need the money. What are the odds ?

Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
I may be clutching at straws, but SY may be wanting to speak to these 38 people to confirm things SY know went on but can't prove without witness' who saw/heard things. The Met have said the Tapas lot are not part of the 38 persons of interest, but as far as I can see, they haven't said they are in the clear.
I'm going to wait patiently (again) and see what develops. Optimistic as ever (or kidding myself) but I'm not giving up until the case is closed one way or another.

I think thats a lot of straws to be clutched at.
No way are the mccanns going down for this. They are well and truly in the clear and heading for the New Years honours list.
Far too much humble pie would have to be choked on.
The dead peado sold Her to a nice couple, thats it.
There is s massive story behind this.

They will never stop begging Mossman. Who knows who they will sue next and they need the legal fees they incur to keep coming.
Once Scotland Yard have decided to put it down to a dead peodo the world is their oyster as far as suing the bum off everybody

Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
Why make such an announcement today? Why not conduct the investigation of the "persons of interest", connect the dots in co-operation with the Portugese authorities and then make the big announcement: "We have today arrested and charged............". Aren't "charges" laid after "questioning". I hope the British "nationals" the police are talking about are not today applying to emigrate.

"The balloons will cost a pound to sponsor and all money will go to the Madeleine appeal fund.
The Chief Constable of Merseyside Police - Bernard Hogan Howe will lead the release of balloons on the highest point of Liverpool inner city on Mossley Hill Field at 1400 BST."
This article is dated 2007......another money maker for the McCanns !!!

I think todays announcement was to inform the public (those that don't follow the case like us) that SY are taking over the investigation and have moved on from the review.

Just because they are British nationals, does not mean they are resident in the uk. SY actively taking over the case and investigating it, is significant and worthy of an announcement. At a guess I would say it was a complicated process because of the Portugese angle, so now the i's are dotted in that regard, they "announced"what we have known anyway.
There is a saying here, 'keep your powder dry" and I have a feeling this is what is happening. It means keeping your cards close to your chest until ready to attack your enemy.

I can understand SY keeping their cards close to their chest, I just wish the press would respect that and not incite/provoke further speculation/exaggeration/hyperbole.

Re: Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe - Announcement 2pm today (4th July 2013)
I think i may suggest to SY that they place a collecting tin, in the canteen at the Yard, to collect donations for K&G to be used for their search for their missing daughter.
How much do you think those generous SY coppers will give?
With all these police whistleblowers coming out of the woodwork at the moment, can the Yard really, really be absolutely certain that anyone that has ever worked on Operation Grange will not at some time blow the whistle on a perceived cover up?
IF SY do have new 'evidence' then the PJ can legitimately re-open the case, can't they?
Without the McCanns even asking for it, a thing they have NEVER done, personally.
WHY would any parent of a missing child ever have allowed the case of their missing child to be shelved?
