I really cant get my head round this one - really surely they would need to take screen shots and have police evidence that it was reported to the police and investigated. it would have been wouldn't it?

I would also like the date 3A's closed to compare it to the publication date of the book if anyone has it

From Mccannfiles:-
"On 24 July 2008, Gonçalo Amaral launched his book 'A Verdade da Mentira', 'Maddie: The Truth Of The Lie', in Lisbon. Its publication was met with a furious reaction from the McCanns and the UK press."
From memory, the 3A's was still up and running when his book was published.
ETA: I think it closed down towards the end of 2008.

Thank you for that information "mumbles". It would appear my recollection isn't as good as I sometimes like to think it is. I'm in my 80's and there are times when "six years ago" seems to be a much shorter time because I remember this tragic story from very early on. Very difficult to believe I've been following Madeleine's "disappearance" for over six years.

Here is the story of how they took a silly throw away remark on Controversy and ran with it TWICE! The second time Kate feared for the twins!
The reality is the comment was made, one of those days when I was sick ad other admin were not available..3 o'clock in the morning I was alerted that it was all over twitter and a couple of days later it was front page in the Express.
I contacted Scotland Yard and because I save everything...lol I was able to send them the deleted thread so they could see the comment in context.
They contacted the member who wrote the oomment.
It took a few mnutes for them to deal with it and realise there was no threat and would have alerted Kate.
A few weeks later it was on the front page of the STAR...Kate feared for the twins!
I personally am not troubled by them using us generically (not seeking out an individual) as it brings people to the Facebook page where they can see the truth, but the McCanns would have ok'd the front page (apparently Clarence ALWAYS has to give his approval) knowing full well there was no threat.
Did something similar happen before? A meaningless comment that none of us took any notice of?
Someone was asking about the date the 3A's closed...Well... there were issues around that time...BUT as I said before, I save everything...and I have many, many threads (if I knew the date) as well as som message postings about what was happening around the time it closed...
http://msngroup.aimoo.com/madeleinemccann/general.msnw.htm
November 9th 2009 it resumed once again...but if necessary I probably have the last date when Beowulf took over and left the message...never to return...

Still here, still following the case... and still hoping for justice for little Madeleine.

Re: Daily Mail/'Anti-McCann' websites plotted to kidnap one of Madeleine's siblings 'to find out what they knew about her disappearance', court hears
It's all coming back to me now.....
My mother died May 2008 and my daughter was seriously ill in hospital in Sept/Oct of the same year.
Not long after my return from the UK, I was asked to become a mod. (just can't remember when exactly!)
I modded for about 5 months, so the 3As forum was still up and running in 2009.
Thanks HiDeHo for jogging my memory.

Re: Daily Mail/'Anti-McCann' websites plotted to kidnap one of Madeleine's siblings 'to find out what they knew about her disappearance', court hears
I was a daily participant on both the Mirror forum and the 3 Arguidos forum and I never saw any suggestion that a twin should be kidnapped. This story isn't true.
The reason so many people are suspicious of the McC's is that they are perfectly aware that children are very rarely abducted by strangers, especially from their beds and that the greatest risk of harm they face is from their own parents. Add to that the bizarre actions and words of the parents and friends, the reactions of the specialist police dogs and the complete lack of evidence of an abduction and most rational intelligent people would be more likely to assume the parents are involved than an opportunistic mad person who wants to steal a child to bring up as their own or a predatory paedophile. Most people have no idea who Mr Amaral is, let alone his book.

I too was with 3A from the very first and I don't recall anything anywhere re suggestions of one of the twins being kidnapped, but in the early days there were many threads that were deleted virtually before they started and there were a couple of occasions when the site was trolled throughout the night when no mods were around. As I said, I don't recall anything of that nature and if someone had started such a thread then I'm quite sure it would have been "whooshed" in double quick time when spotted.

I agree Wintanells but I also thought it was well moderated and anything grevious was removed and the thread deleted. I also found that many on there sort of self regulated one another because they didn't want reason for the site to be closed.

Me too wjk. I was on 3As 24/7 and never ever saw anything about kidnapping the twins. How come we never heard anything about this until now? More McLies.wjk wrote:I was on the 3A's from day1 and I NEVER saw anything like that sh*te!
I would remember if there had been anything like that on there!

Like I said on the other thread, I would assume that if Michael Wright is smart enough to monitor forums, he's smart enough to take screen shots. So where is the proof of this "threat"?

This is the headline in the Daily Star - MADDIE TWINS KIDNAP HORROR.
There really is absolutely no limit to the bonkers stories that the tabloids print.

No doubt that's supposed to be Michael Wright, the husband of Kate's cousin.

If the McCanns reported what they claim was a kidnap threat, the police should have a record of it and should, I believe, be available under freedom of information.
Failing that, Michael Wright while monitoring the web should have captured this evidence(?) by screen shot.
Mr. Amaral's book is based on the facts of the police investigation. There is nothing deceiving about obvious facts and I dare say millions of people around the world formed their opinion of the McCanns' involvement in Madeleine's disappearance long before Mr. Amaral's book was released.

Will Tricksy protect us in case you and mummy are too busy?
Should we call the North Yorkshire Police, daddy?
