i joined up wanting to know what happened to madeleine poor baby that went on holiday never to return , i still do , im finding all this in the press a bit sad , why the hell is it in the press like this , i really hope that its been done already because all this is done without any feelings towards madeleine , frigin media circus , thats why i am thinking they might already have the clues to all this , could either portugal or sy let this happen again . also how the hell are they going to stop people watching whats going on , shut a lrage area off , im finding all this sickening news at the min

Judge refuses ‘a number’ of formal requests by Scotland Yard in search for Madeleine

A Portuguese police source has tonight told The Portugal News that some requests by Scotland Yard detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have been “rejected due to a total lack of foundation.”

The ruling was made by a Portuguese criminal judge tasked with issuing search warrants applied for by the Metropolitan Police Service in the third and latest international letter of request sent to Lisbon earlier this year.



The police source stressed that contrary to latest newspaper reports both in Britain and Portugal, no digging has been scheduled with regards to the investigation.



But he reasoned that “if they are planning excavations, it means that they are looking for a body.”



As for reports that the digging could also serve to rule out the possibility that Madeleine is not alive, he questioned: “How many holes do you have to dig to rule out the existence of a body?”



He continued: “Why does the Metropolitan Police Service want to dig up holes if they believe Madeleine is still alive? How do you prove that somebody is alive by digging up holes?”



The police source reaffirmed an earlier position that the case was re-opened by Portuguese authorities to investigate a series of sexual assaults on children in the Algarve between 2004 and 2010.



“This was not uniquely to investigate Euclides Monteiro”, he explained, referring to the Cape Verdean national who died in a tractor accident on a golf course in Lagos, near Luz, back in 2009.



The source stressed: “All scenarios remain open.”



As for the modus operandi used by British detectives since the multi-million pound investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, codenamed Operation Grange, was signed off by Prime Minister David Cameron, the police source admitted: “Sincerely, it is not easy to understand them. But I’m sure they know what they are doing.”



He further questioned whether these latest revelations “which come after the anniversary of Madeleine McCann, have anything to do with the European elections and the need for the Metropolitan Police Service to prove to those who created this team that they have made some progress?”



Regarding the tactics employed by Portuguese police, he said: “We are completely committed to finding out what happened to Madeleine McCann. Our approach is humble and very honest. We have a complete notion of the difficulty and the importance this investigation has to all concerned and the need to obtain results. We are firmly committed to discover what happened. However, there are completely different ways of approaching the investigation. We prefer to talk less and do more.”



Scotland Yard were not immediately for comment on the refusal of some their requests, which are believed to total no fewer than 278.

The McCanns are a different kettle of fish, in my opinion,  they knew Madeleine hadn't been abducted, they knew exactly what had happened to her and if she was dead or alive and that's why they didn't search for her.

I think you're correct Kathybelle.  I'm not holding out much hope that there are going to be any revelations other than to find some patsy and some form of closure so we can all shut up and go away.  I've lost all faith of any of the investigations being anything other than a cover up now but sincerely hope I've got it wrong

Right from  the beginning, the McCanns have given so many clues, as to why Madeleine is no longer alive. First of all they never searched for her, then they contacted the British Government, instead of the GNR.

The McCanns along with their mates, trampled all over the crime scene, then they lied to save their own skins. The McCanns hindered the PJ at every opportunity and threatened to sue anyone who dared speak ill of them. If I looked carefully in the PJ files, I could probably find more scenarios, where the McCanns have given clues that Madeleine is no longer alive.

The last clue the McCanns gave that Madeleine was no longer alive, was when they along with others,  gathered at that War Memorial, on what they now say, is the 7th anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance. They laid a floral tribute to Madeleine, would they have done that if Madeleine was alive? In my opinion, no they wouldn't. In fact they would not have gathered at a War Memorial to remember Madeleine, they would have gathered at a place were children play, or gathered in a church, where they could pray for Madeleine and the other missing children.

I'm sorry but if the McCanns played no part in Madeleine's disappearance, other than leaving her and maybe the twins, unsupervised in that unlocked apartment, their behaviour would have been totally different, from the minute Kate McCann discovered Madeleine had disappeared. They would have behaved in a similar way to Sarah Payne's parents, Ben Needham's parents, the Soham Girl's parents and April Jones's parents.

It sickens me that Andy Redwood is as spineless as the others, who have pussyfooted around the McCanns, since they caused Madeleine to disappear. I don't give a flying fig that Redwood may be following orders from above, if he had a backbone, he would have refused to take part in this investigation, unless the McCanns were brought to justice.

I've got nothing but contempt for Cameron as well as Redwood. Cameron  knows full well that the McCanns are the root cause of Madeleine's disappearance. Cameron knows, that the millions of pounds of taxpayers money that has been used to fund this investigation, will not be used to bring the right people to justice. He knows that the investigation will either conclude with an innocent person, who can't prove where they were on the night Madeleine supposedly disappeared, being prosecuted for her disappearance. Or Madeleine was taken by person/s unknown.

If Scotland Yard, had any intention of wanting the right people, to be brought to justice, for Madeleine's disappearance, they would fight tooth and nail, to make sure the McCanns were brought to justice.

I think that if the UK police are going to be digging in Portugal, there's no way the McCanns would risk being there, because if something incriminating is found, they'd be back in the cop shop faster than you can say 'arguido'.

If SY are consenting to and sending cadaver dogs then they know there is not any remains to be found, either that or evidence will be found, but in an area well away from anywhere the mccanns could be proven to have been.

i hope , that if the dig is going to happen portugal and the uk can work together and find out the TRUTH what has happened to madeleine ,and if at all possible bring in another outside body to make sure all is done right nothing added nothing lost in transit , just the truth whatever it may be , both countys should do this for madeleine , shes the victim in all this

If Scotland Yard are considering sending in cadaver dogs, they must believe the capabilities of these dogs. So why did Andy Redwood and his team, dismissed Eddie and Keela's findings, in the McCanns apartment?

If Redwood hadn't dismissed Eddie and Keela's findings, Redwood would not be saying the McCanns are not person's of interest to him. Especially when cadaver odour was found on clothing worn by Madeleine and Kate McCann and none was found on the clothing of the twins and Gerry McCann.

If Redwood hadn't dismissed Eddie and Keela's findings, the McCanns would have been arrested and extradited to Portugal.

Redwood has not once come out and said the dogs are to be dismissed.


The reason the mccanns haven't been arrested, the same reason they weren't in portugual...



There needs to be no loopholes in this case, it needs to be able to stand up in court with damning evidence that proves the mccanns were 100% responsible for Madeleines demise and that includes hiding the body.


It's not like the case in America where a father murdered his daughter and disposed off her body because there was only ONE person involved and that is the father, he killed and hid her body and the dogs were instrumental in this case .



The McCann case is more complicated as they don't know who else if anybody was involved, whether other people have been culpable in a cover up, whether someone else hid the body or whether someone else may or may not off committed a crime.




All we know is cadaver scent was found in the apt and car...but so were other people in the apt and in the car...cadaver scent was on Kate McCann so we know she was involved somehow but that is it.

For the first time in seven long years, they seem to have a pretty good idea where to look.

Can't see them digging whilst in the throw off high season....can't see it happening.

They're looking at three specific sites Kitti.  It's on Sky news.

They're not going to turn PDL upside down.  They must have a pretty good reason to want to look at these three sites.  my guess is they won't dig at all before the dogs bark........

Makes me laugh the headline......'dig up the resort'..makes it sound like the whole place is going to be excavated and all that will be left is a gigantic hole...

When I see the dogs and the equipment...I will believe it
