They believe anything they want to believe Badboy. No doubt it was all revealed to him by the Angel Gabriel in a dream. They've been living on that one fr 1400 odd years.

I think 'cleric' alone does it.
Re: SAUDI CLERIC SAYS SUN REVOLVES AROUND EARTH
The Angel Gabriel belongs to the Catholic world. It was this Angel who told the Virgin Mary she was pregnant due to an immaculate conception.

The Qu'ran 53;4-9 explains how Gabriel first appeared to Mohammed in the form of a man, and commanded him to read.

Re: SAUDI CLERIC SAYS SUN REVOLVES AROUND EARTH
Scantily-dressed women cause earthquakes, Iranian cleric says
Women who wear revealing clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes, according to a senior Iranian cleric.
"Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes," Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media.
Iran is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries.
It also has one of the world's strictest dress codes for women, who are required by law in the Islamic Republic to cover from head to toe. However, many women, especially the young, ignore some of the stricter sartorial guidelines, choosing instead to wear scarves that show much of their hair, and tailored coats that reveal their figures.
"What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble?" the cleric asked during a prayer sermon on Friday. "There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam's moral codes."
Seismologists have warned for the past two decades that it is likely the sprawling capital Tehran will be struck by a catastrophic quake in the near future.
Some experts have even suggested Iran should move its capital to a less seismically active location. Tehran straddles scores of fault lines, including one more than 50 miles long, though it has not suffered a major quake since 1830.
In 2003, a powerful earthquake hit the southern city of Bam, killing 31,000 people - about a quarter of that city's population - and destroying its ancient mud-built citadel.

It is noticeable in all this that the men are not responsible for any wrongdoing. The women are leading them astray. I take it that accounts for the brothels they have set up in Syria and Iraq.
When I first started working for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia, we had a pork shop on compound. On production of your non Muslim ID you could buy pork. Then we got a letter round that some ill intentioned people had been selling pork to Saudis, and our pork rations would be consequently reduced. In my case the allowance was far more than I could eat anyway even living exclusively on the stuff. The letter also explained that no sin attached to the Saudis themselves as they had been tempted beyond their capacity to resist. Most od us found that hilarious , and goes along with the women leading these poor men astray. It also answers Badboy's query of do they actually believe all of this. The answer seems to be yes they do.Incidentally I always found it strange that of the twin evils of pork and alcohol, pork was by far the worst of the two evils, yet we had a pork shop, but no bar. Not a legal one anyway.

Katertaif, you miss my point. What I meant was that when discussion religions, all sorts of crap come up. I take it that may be because all religions are based on major amounts of doodoo. The Angel Gabriel thing being just one example, of course. A very harmless one, may I add.

When you said Gabriel belonged to the Catholic world I assumed you were saying he did not belong to the Islamic world.
I do accept that most of the alleged revelations were actually made to his senior wife not to Mohammed himself and most of those were made allegedly by the Archangel Michael. As for harmless, These fundamentalists are proving by the day that they are anything but. Apparently another abduction in Syria yesterday, this time of Assyrian Christians. One of the tenets of Islam is that the Qur'an cannot be wrong. To my mind the host of different interpretations of the word they say is inviolate amounts to the same thing

Well, you certainly miss points quite often. What I meant was that religions are full of crap. The fact that different religions share 'characters' should be a strong indication. As for the harmless, once again you missed it. I meant that with so many awful things in holy books, the immaculate conception message delivered by Gabriel was quite harmless.

Well, we agree on something. You do try to be careful with your choice of words after slipping up pretty bad once or twice. Whether you actually achieve your goal or not is something else entirely.

Since you obviously have no intention of debating anything I suggest we agree on something else. You ignore me and I will ignore you. I have not forgotten being called a troll by you, nor have I forgotten your comment that left to you I would be long gone and far away.
