fedrules wrote:I'm afraid I have to rain on the parade here. The headline about Maddie having died in the flat is in inverted commas, which means, in media speak, it is not an established fact. Everything that we have heard today has been reported in the media at one stage or another during the last 2.5 years so IMO, unless Amaral has something up his sleeve, some new evidence to reopen the case, then things will continue as they are now ad infinitum..i.e. many will believe that Maddie did indeed die in the flat, but nobody will be able to prove it..
I really hope GA has something new and vital to tell the court...
I agree with you. I can't see any of the main broadcasters doing anything but tow the party line after so many years of doing so. That's not to say they can't get in little digs here and there with ambiguous headlines that make people double take. They are very aware that not everyone is behind this couple. But sadly the likes of Carter Ruck will deter editors from sticking their neck out. It was ever thus with this case.

Can Amaral present new evidence in the case in this hearing?? I doubt it, since this is about the libel and the fact that he followed the PJ files.

Fedrules, I think we all realise that, but the point is, it's being aired as a possibility again. Slightly ironic given that the supposed point of the McCann's taking this case to court is because they don't want the world to believe she is dead!

Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
Yes, the media have often had little digs at the McCanns and this sensational headline is another one..no doubt tomorrow there'll be similar ones referring to Amaral as a 'disgraced' or 'corrupt' cop, more than likely without the disclaiming inverted commas this time...
The media are prevented from doing more by the UK's draconian libel laws, although ,of course, the 'innocent until proven guilty' ideal also has something to do with it..
All the media can do is drop subtle hints with unflattering photos or cases regarding child abuse/neglect appearing on the same page as a McCann story...

Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
Sorry I've just tried the link and it's unavailable at the moment because it's so busy. I think a lot of people are trying to access the information. It is a statement made in court by a witness that the police believed that Madeleine died in the apartment. It looks like the case will not go the Mc Canns way and even if it does I can't see people still donating money to the fund after this and other information comes out. It looks like their charade may be slowly coming to an end. The investigation must be re-opened whatever the outcome of the libel case. IMHO.
My heart has been broken again with this news that the police are fairly certain she died in the apartment. I thought I would have been used to the idea of her having passed away by now, but it really hurts today. Sorry for being so emotional. xx
Poor little soul. R.I.P. Madeleine xx
All my very best wishes from Rose xx

It's just easy to get carried away in these circumstances. I agree about the irony, but, of course their aim has always been very different from the stated one!!

Not so bad A.A. Its surely good to know others will be able to hear this. I've got one ear to the Chilcott inquiry and keeping an eye on Sky while baking a rice pudding ,home made is always best.

Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
I'm pretty certain now that the release of the sniffer dog video was a damage limitation exercise by Team McCann..Imagine what a bombshell it would have been if the sniffer dogs's indications suddenly emerged out of the blue now!¨They've done the same with Mrs Fenn's statement and the Smith family sighting IMO.

Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
I have just sent a Sky link to the head booker for the Nancy Grace Show.
She was, initially, extremely interested when I spoke to her on the phone to give her link to the Documentary last April but she emailed back within 20 mins to say 'the were going to pass'. (very 'curious' I thought)
Let's see if her interest has recovered!

Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
I wonder how the McCanns have been looking while the witness has been testifying-confident or nervous?

Fedrules, I'm not saying you're one of these people, but some folks seem to take it upon themselves to advise others: calm down; don't get too excited; don't get your hopes up. For myself, I try to live in the moment and every moment in which I feel hopeful, optimistic, about something is a moment that is actually very good for my physical and emotional health. If there comes a moment which is not so bright, well too bad. I could have spent my time being miserable and pessimistic, which is bad for the health, when instead I experienced a few positive moments.
Re: Sky Live Day 1 - 12/01/10
I think we have all been fairly certain that Madeleine is no longer with us. We just hope we will see some sort of justice for the little girl.

AnneEsse, I suppose I'm talking to myself really. I have spent months hoping that the truth will finally come out about this case and every time I've been disappointed.
