Yeh, sorry about that fred, I sort of 'did a McCann' there didn't I.
btw, I just added to my post that the police were removing a side door to the premises that may contain important clues.

Also showed the police removing a side door to the premises, which is believed to contain important clues/evidence.
Just quoting so that this added piece of info gets seen!

That's what I thought, don't you take a bottle of something with you when you go to a party? And maybe something for eating, like a big pizza?
I think Sky news also said the landlord lived in the flat above.

I don't think it's very common for someone to change locks on a rented flat, especially if the landlord lives on the premises. I guess someone may do that with the landlord's permission, giving him a spare key since he would want to have access at some point.
Ah ok! Here in this country the first thing you do is changing locks, because it is presumed the Landlord doesn't have the right to enter the house, because from the moment you rent it, it's your home (unless someone has some type of deal with landlords). There's also the fact someone that has lived on that same flat before can still have a copy of the key. Landlord just receives the rent and that's it. What I mean is, we don't need to ask authorization to change locks. When you leave a rented house, then you give your keys to landlord.
In the UK, unless the landlord has reason to believe there is an emergency, he does not have the right to enter the rented accommodation without giving notice. The landlord may wish to send a plumber in, for example, or install new equipment and he would send a written notice with a date and time.
okey doke. reasonable to consider that he had no key.
I think he would have had a key for emergency access. Also, the flat would have been, probably, on a 'Shorthold Tenancy,' agreement, which would usually stipulate not making any alterations to the premises, without permission. That would include changing locks. Landlords usually hold keys so that, for example, if someone were to fall ill, medical personnel could gain access.
been surfing and it seems there's no law preventing the landlord from retaining a key...
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CCsQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.landlordzone.co.uk%2Fforums%2Fshowthread.php%3F15378-Landlords-rights-to-retain-keys-to-property&ei=NigbTbavEsG2hAfPhJG3Dg&usg=AFQjCNHx9ZeCG6vEYciB9RzAJpU8zy1u-g
not what i would call definitive but there's no mention of it here...
http://www.tenancyagreementservice.co.uk/tenants-rights.htm
so i'll go with the likelihood he had a key.

Thank you Anna, I've have just watched the clip again, and what appeared to be a side door, is in fact the actual FRONT door to Jo's "garden flat" as it is being referred....

Re: jo yeates
The door business sounds promising, especially if the police are removing it. The landlord's statement to the police about it possibly being Joanna he saw with two other people is interesting, since she's unlikely to have been leaving with two people she didn't know. But of course it may turn out not to have been her after all. And the keys and handbag being left in the flat is still puzzling, because it's so automatic to take these things with you if you're heading out. Women and their handbags/purses are seldom separated, at least in my experience, and no one goes out and leaves their keys or mobile phone at home (no matter what Clarence Mitchell might have said about the Tapas 9). Even if she was going to a party in the same building or nearby, I think she'd have taken these things with her.

It's true that it's unfair to speculate about specific people involved in this awful case and I'm sorry to have done so previously..
But it didn't stop you and the rest getting out the pitchforks for an airing did it? Those who could be bothered to observe have been watching with open mouthed astonishment at the ill informed speculation on this thread.
Maybe the prosepct of another grieving family was just too hard to resist?

I dont make the grade as an armchair detective either. But the difference is that I know it.
My take - that the UK police seem to have a pretty good handle on this, and speculating on 'likely suspects' is rather sick.

These are really strange things to write, and very disrespectful. Who are the people that you refer to who have been watching this thread?
The second comment is very very strange, and very wrong. Clearly you do not understand the feelings or issues with the McCanns and how they deal with things. It seems you just like to say the same things the McCanns say, because you do not know how to answer the difficult questions.
It is fine to disagree, but it is not good to criticise when you do not understand.

yes, the police do appear to have a pretty good handle. probably better than we think. as for speculation? that's being done lots of places. you know, every place where people meet and chat. it's what people do.

Well, sans, apart from you, most people here are present to discuss possibilities, based on information as it arises. There isn't anyone else here who just comments when there's an opportunity to make snide remarks.
As for those who observe with open-mouthed astonishment, perhaps they have nothing better to discuss or observe than what's going on here. They certainly have no theories of their own rather like yourself, and can only spend their time discussing what's being said here. Well, that's their choice and if it makes you and them happy just to ridicule others who are trying to think things through and are brave enough to actually express an opinion, then let them get on with it. We aren't actually bovvered about what they think!

well, aside from one post concern this girl's daddy which i thought way off the mark much of the speculation on this thread pretty much as i've found it out in the 'real world'. it was and still is understandable to consider the boyfriend's part in all this. after all, wouldn't be the first time would it? really sans, i think you got this forum mixed up with jill haverns. perhaps you should wander over there. i hear there are many souls in need of redemption.
