There is loads of sexual assaults reported in bristol a lot of them by cab drivers as I posted previously. There is also the batman rapist who has been known to operate there.

Police say that the rapist has a detailed geographical knowledge of Bath and operates in "a specific hunting ground".[2] All but one of his crimes have taken place in Bath, usually in the Bathwick area of the city, the exception being the abduction and rape of a 19-year-old woman in Kingswood, near Bristol in September 1996.[2] His crimes usually take place during the darker winter months.[9] He targets lone women who have just returned to their cars, abducting them at knifepoint before forcing them to drive to secluded areas in the south of the city where he then attacks them

His attacks are usually between 6pm and 8pm, "possibly on the way home from work", or between 1am and 3am, and he may have convictions for car crime "because of the ease with which he breaks into vehicles."[1

With this level of violence things can always escalate.

Is the following a bit creepy though?

An unsolved murder from 1974 Glenis Carruthers was strangled in Clifton, Bristol

A 20-year old woman from Amersham was found strangled on Clifton Down after she had left a friend's 21st birthday on Friday January 18 at 10pm.
(TAKEN FROM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unsolved_murders_in_the_United_Kingdom, which actually sources the mirror)

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/12/31/jo-yeates-murder-bears-similarities-to-unsolved-strangling-nearby-from-1974-115875-22816596/

Jo Yeates murder bears similarities to unsolved strangling nearby from 1974

31/12/2010
The Jo Yeates murder bears haunting similarities to the unsolved killing of a student teacher nearby in 1974.
Like Jo, Glenis Carruthers, 20, was strangled. Her body was found on Clifton Downs, less than 800 yards from Jo’s flat, after she left a party.
Last night police refused to rule out a link between the two killings. But a spokeswoman for the Avon and Somerset force said: “An investigation into the death of Jo Yeates is continuing, a man remains in custody and we have no further comment to make about possible links to any other murder.”

Glenis’s killer, who may have been glimpsed fleeing by the dog-walker who found the body, was never caught despite a cold case review involving the latest DNA techniques this year.
A Clifton shopkeeper said last night: “Jo’s murder has brought back a lot of bad memories for people who have lived here a long time. You just wonder if there could be a connection.”
Glenis, from Amersham, Bucks, was driven to Bristol by a female pal to celebrate her 21st birthday on Friday January 18, 1974. The Bedford College of Physical Education student stepped outside to take a stroll from the party in Worcester Crescent, Clifton, at 10pm and was never seen alive again.
Brother Gordon Carruthers said Jo’s murder had “brought back the awful memories”. He added “One sadly can say that every time a young woman dies in such circumstances.”

Young, on a friday in winter... strangulation? Lots of people who live in those sorts of areas in those big houses tend to have the houses in their families for years. I would be half tempted to check the electoral register to find out who lived there in 1974?

(apologise if someone has posted it before)

Hmmmm... see what you mean, but that would be premeditated because she was still alive at that time.

A little off-topic but this needs to be addressed:
This T4two's post that I've quoted got a red stripe and I wonder why, if nothing silly was said. I just hope each member of the forum can follow a good sense of fairness when giving green and red stripes to posts. Everybody has to learn on how to agree to disagree. The red stripes are to be given to other type of posts and not to one merely expressing a view, without attacking anyone.

There is a taxi rank outside the tesco express that Jo went into...

seems kinda strange she would walk all that way to the tesco's express then catch a taxi to go the last few hundred yards.

Apparently it's a mere 5 minute walk, according to the press reports.

Looking at your diagram she left at 8pm and was only paying at 8.40pm at tescos - that's over 40minutes of walking so far in the freezing cold! Now she also has shopping to carry and grab some more from bargain booze (wherever that is) so it wouldn't be unheard of to get a taxi the remainder of the way!

Not a lot of shopping to carry - two small bottles of cider (330 ml ea.) and a pizza and she's got something to carry them in. Apart from that, most taxis would refuse to take you a few hundred yards down the road rather than lose their place at the rank. IMO this is the stumbling block with your theory, which is a shame really, because otherwise it is most intriguing.

There might be a breakthrough or it could just be a summing up and appeal for more information and end to speculation. But people will speculate it's human nature. I did read somewhere about a light coloured car being seen speeding away from near the golf club. Maybe they will be appealing for sightings of that vehicle. I hope for everyone's sake the person responsible is caught soon. The pizza thing is very puzzling. Somebody didn't want that wrapping to be found. Depends when the bins were emptied.

The local recycling collection apparently took place the day before the police started looking for the pizza wrapping.

But taxi drivers always have minimum rates don't they? A very short journey and some cash for a quick job might be quite appealing to them.

How long after the police were informed that she was missing was the recycling and rubbish collected? I would have thought that in a case like this, where someone has apparently gone missing from their home it would be standard procedure to seize the bins and their contents!

I've had London cabbies go beserk when I only wanted to go a distance they considered too short. They aren't interested in minimum rates if they lose their place in the queue.
Don't forget that several days had gone by before she was even reported as missing. Apparently when the police found out about the pizza, collection had already been made. Can't blame the police - just bad luck ...

Jefferies's car is grey / silver..my money is definitely on him being the culprit.

It was me who redsriped you fedrules, sorry , but I'm not happy to see posts like this after the Attorney General has warned about comments in Internet sites , also have seen warnings that comments could be open to libel should Jeffries not being guilty of anything .

The boyfriend has also expressed disgust at Jeffries being targeted in Internet sites .
