Well katertaif, the guys who were doing the investigating were impartial as far as I could tell and , would rebels have access to the chemicals and a Plane to scatter them? Syria is a destroyed Country with millions of it's citizens in Refugee camps , would Assad want to do any more harm? I think not.

I am against Assad and the Rebels, because they have both been responsible for the death of so many and the overflowing camps containing Syrian Refugees who have nothing , whose chiildren will not be educated , the senseless demolition of Syrian Cities and Assad will not give an inch. He was tolerant of the Christians but that's all one can say about him.

So then Panda you are against all this senseless killing maiming and general destruction: We are in complete agreement. I just do not understand how you one minute say Assad is responsible for the chemical attacks and then say he isn't. he may be, he's obviously totally unconcerned for the people of Syria. Then so are these alleged rebels, who are in the main nothing more than terrorists looking to enforce their own idiotic brand of what is already an idiotic institution.
An institution which even if they got what they wanted; global Islam, would then do what they have already done in so many other places and turn on each other.
History will judge Assad, and eventually he will (as our American cousins would say ) get his. The danger then lies in who or what replaces him. The cure may turn out to be worse than the disease. Either way the people of Syria are suffering in many ways, while this so called civil war produces more and more home grown dangers

I didn't suggest Assad wasn't culpable for the chemical attack, just queried why he would be so arrogant knowing he was forced to tell where the chemical weapons were stored. The Man is heartless enough to see Syria reduced to rubble , not to mention the deaths and refugee camps keeping his Citizens alive.
Assad is an educated man,his wife is English, what must she be thinking?

No Panda I'm not saying categorically that he isn't either. he is, as you say heartless enough. All I am saying is that with his forces taking ground back from the terrorists it is in their interests not his to use these atrocious things, and then try to pin the blame on him. Either side being heartless and duplicitous enough to do it. I accept that Assad may be indulging in; for want of a better expression, double bluff. I's just that whatever the newspapers say, the evidence is only that they have been used and not which faction used them.
Remember that any and all Muslims who die in the conflict are in the twisted minds of those fighting, going straight to paradise as martyrs and in those circumstances, their killers are actually doing them a favour God help us.
As for his wife, there was a documentary on her a few months ago now. It seems very unlikely that she is so well cocooned that she has no idea what is going on, so it can only be assumed that she is as bas as him. If not as a woman worse.

Re: Syria warns West against intervention
Apparently Assads'Wife enjoys her shopping trips to London and Paris so is probably turning a blind eye to the atrocities. It is almost like there has been an undercover preparation by the militants in the Middle East so that they simultaneously , after being armed by supporting Countries , overthrow their Leaders. This is not an Arab Spring it is a massacre of the innocents in the middle East, where we go from here is anybody's guess.

This is what I have been saying all along Panda. They are all barbaric in their outlook. They have advanced not one iota since Mohammed came marauding out of the desert. Their supreme deity, while ostensibly the same as ours is as bloodthirsty as the Gods of the Chaldeans were several thousand years ago.
Only this morning the news showed allegedly British "jihadis" committing war crimes. These people are among us now and well entrenched. There is every possibility of them bringing their new found skills of maiming and killing back here.
They may have been born, brought up, and educated in Britain, but their minds are still North South, while ours are East West. They are no more British than the man in the Moon, we are just another step on the road to global Islam.

The Guy who shot the arrested muslim has been identified by Kings College? as British by the wristwatch and the fact he had spoken in English on another occasion. What happens now? Can he be deported, have his passport confiscated?
He certainly wasn't young and what happens if he is recruiting others living in Britain.......that joke about the future of the US and Britain , is probably a good prediction.

Assad is quite happy then to let all these Foreign jihadis (other Countries might also have them) help do his dirty wor so I reckon he will leave Syria at some point because he knows his Country is ungovernable now. I posted in the joke section a funny but probably true tale that Obama and Cameron tried out a new gizmo which would predict what would happen to their Countries in 100 years time....it is worth a look.

The vast vast majority of these so called jihadis are actually fighting against Assad. How that makes him happy I'm not sure.

Actually katertaif , I suspect most of these so called warriors going from the U.K. probably are just in it for the thrill, licence to kill , the guy they shot was not in uniform and the guy who shot him has been going back and fore the U.K. to Syria , not exactly that committed is he. Assad has lost control of his Country and the damage to the once beautiful Cities in Syria will not be repaired in a hurry.

Good morning badboy.
You may very well have a point there. They; or at least their predecessors have been in place for longer, are more deeply entrenched and from the early days of this civil war when regular troops were defecting with their weapons are better armed. They may even have access to helicopters from which to release these dreadful chemical weapons.
Given that they also have the same complete disregard for suffering and death (as long as it isn't their own) I for one wouldn't bet against you.

Katertaif recommended Middle East experts for being more informed, this Report is interesting, the Author reckons the whole of the Middle East is
ungovernable ....maybe Assad leaving the Country is not such a pie in the sky idea. He has probably taken enough money out of the Country to keep his Family and future generations in the manner in which they are accustomed.

Nineteenth-century diplomats dubbed the Ottoman Empire “the Sick Man of Europe.” Now, I nominate the whole Middle East the Sick Man of the World. The region’s hatreds, extremism, violence and despotism will require many decades to remedy."
This is an extract from Pipes report....not far wrong is he, I think the West , especially the USA and Britain should stay out of these uprisings we acheived nothing in Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq and the cost to our Military on whom we rely to keep our borders safe was severe.

The whole rationale behind Islam is to stifle innovative thought. Yes the Ottoman Empire was sick, because of the sleaze and corruption. Remembering that the majority of Turks are also Muslim nothing much has changed.
Cameron wanted these people in the EU As far as I know he still does. Despite the fact that they prove almost daily they are not ready If and when Turkey ever accedes to the EU it will at least be the end of it. Unfortunately it will also more than likely be the end of us as well.
They gave the world Mathematics, Astronomy, geography and even put the zero in to arithmetic, making a great stride forward. What have they done since Mohammed came marauding out of the desert? They have retrogressed in fact, and now depend on expatriate labour, and the buying power of the petrodollar which we still need.

Re: Syria warns West against intervention
I holidayed with some friends in Turkey , a lovely resort, unspoiled and the people were friendly. To give you one example we were having a drink in the Hotel Bar one night and this music came on that I knew and liked but couldn' t think of the name . I went and asked the Barman but he pointed to the Turkish couple sitting a few feet away at the Bar saying it was their tape recording . I asked the man what it was called and all he could say was 1492, which meant nothing to me . I went back to my friends and a bit later one he came up and insisted on giving me the tape....very kind people we met everywhere.
There was a Beach Bar we used to go to some nights and got friendly with the Staff, all boys, no girls. They told us the Turkish Government would not let them have Visas to travel because they wanted to keep them in Turkey so they would help their Families. There was also the downside , of selling a kidney .

Good morning Panda
I am assuming that these alleged fighters are not indigenous to Syria. To an extent then although their religion is still barbaric and pointless, they are at least to a degree concerned with the safety of their own skins.
The true Muslim doesn't mind being killed in action, because it ensures an immediate road to paradise. They certainly have no compassion whatsoever for the hundreds of thousands of innocents, (women and children for the most part,) killed, maimed and displaced because of them.
When it gets a little too hot for THEM however, they give a great shout of Allah Akbar and whistle up a coach to get them out of there tout suite. So much for their allegiance to this great jihad. How can anyone have any respect for them or the cause they claim they are fighting for? After all there can be very few non combatants left in Homs now only these brave manly fighters.
It will also be interesting over the coming days to see how this terror group in Nigeria, the ones calling themselves Boko Haram (Western things are forbidden) conduct themselves when it starts getting hot for them. Girls and innocent shoppers seem to be more in their line.
Don't you find it strange to say the least that in every other religion, converts are gained through kindness, and mercy, showing the prospective convert that their God is better and more worth following. Yet Islam have only one answer to everything. "Let's go out and kill someone" preferably by beheading.
If and when they finally get their stated intent of introducing the joys, and benefits of Islam to the entire world, they will then, as they do now fight each other for their narrow medieval beliefs. What a wonderful prospect!!

The perpetrators in Nigeria are a relatively new group of what we would call terrorists, but you are right in that they probably would call themselves jihadis.
The name Boko Haram says it all. Haram means forbidden, while Boko can best be described as anything coming form the west. Education, technology you name it, it is western in origin, and therefore forbidden. Their problem with these schoolgirls, just as with the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is that do not believe in education for girls. They are to be educated only in satisfying a husband, and then when of marriageable age (8 0r 9 as their paedophile prophet proved) married to fulfil their destiny. Usually and preferably to a much older man.
They are all terrorists whatever their extremely narrow interpretation of the Qu'ran is. The point is they only have one argument to any theological question, and that argument comes out of the barrel of a Kalashnikov assault rifle. It is literally all they understand. Unless as in Homs it starts getting too hot for them.
I don't agree with much of what Obama says, but I do agree that it is a global problem, not only a Nigerian one. Cameron said much the same thing yesterday. They have been allowed too much freedom of movement across borders and as such terrorists are springing up everywhere. Western governments have pandered to them, now we are seeing the results
