Hi almostgothic, thanks but I have an idea it was Paiva who was part of the English Team of detectives sent to PDL to liaise with the Portugese. ,Stuart
Prior being one of them. Paiva was the one Kate told she had dreamt that Madeleine was buried on top of a Hill, I think he is of Portugese descent and
speaks the language.

Wasn't de Freitas a Witness for Amaral at the Injunction hearing ?

I think you'll find that the modern Labour Party has very little Socialist flavour - just an alternative form of Conservatism in many ways.

Hmm this letter means nothing imo, what we have to remember is whatever the pathetic UK Government's promise they ALWAYS do the exact opposite, so please don't lose heart....Cameron is a dead man walking and would probably do anything to get support back, would this case be enough...who knows?

I agree, Cameron doesn't have a clue and proved just as devious as most Politicians. None of his Cabinet has shown any ability , the coalition with

This letter reads more like a "standard" letter to me, if the PM were to have a standard letter for such occasions.

The letter is worded in a very "nice" way but does not actually say he believes their story or supports them, imo. In fact the first couple of paragraphs could be in response to a letter from parents with regard to anything upsetting, say perhaps looking for help for their child with special needs, a school place, medical help, anything at all.

When writing this letter he had to be seen to be supportive, anything else would have been public relations suicide for him. There are still lots of voters out there who support the McCanns cause, for now anyway. For the non believers, he is trying to keep them on side by being seen to kick start the review. Regarding DC letter to the Mccanns via the s*n,i think he had no choice but to word it in a way that the Mccs wanted,he was in a tight spot but if the pj had already started or were known to soon be starting a review this was tm way of more pre empting so im not feeling negative in anyway...

I think the McCanns were callous enough to mention Cameron's bereavement and since it was an open letter he had no option but to accede to their
demands . Many in his own Party objected to this expense but it was his decision and he faces the criticism if nothing is found. After over 10 months
searching by 36 Detectives, nothing has been found and I suspect the reason the Oporto Detectives have taken over from the original team is to prove
that the Portugese did not deserve all the brickbats hurled at them by the McCanns and the British Press and if nothing is found the case will be closed .

I'd like to know how Dave Edgar, rose to high profile position in the N.I. police. He was severely criticised for not following proper investigative procedures, when he interviewed, one of the Victoria Beckham lookalikes, who was supposedly waiting for someone to hand over a child, believed to be Madeleine over to her.

He has also passed leads on to the PJ, knowing full well that the investigation in to Madeleine's disappearance had ceased, thanks to the McCanns demands. I was under the impression that was and probably still being paid out of Madeleine's fund, to follow these leads, so why was he passing them on to the PJ?

I could be wrong, but I feel sure that Edgar even passed on the lead, regarding Madeleine being held in a hellish lair to the PJ.

What I do know is, Edgar along with the McCanns, has whinged to the media more than once, about the PJ not following leads they have been given.

If, after all this money is wasted , not to mention the time, and there is no evidence that the Portugese Police did not follow every lead initially, what are we left with? The same conclusion reached in the original Final Report........that no one knows what happened to Madeleine. !!!! the only consolation is that the Mccanns will emerge with egg on their faces, Cameron taking a lot of stick for sanctioning this expense, the Portugese Police vindicated and interest in the Mccanns will fall away. How can they then justify a continued search for Madeleine? Clarence will be out of a job and the Press will have felt cheated .

I don't believe the Government was/is involved in any conspiracy to protect the McCanns in the slightest although I would agree that the McCanns have been on the receiving end of a great deal of 'assistance' that the normal Joe Blogs wouldn't have had whatsoever. In my opinion this is as a direct result of Gerry McCanns medical credientials as he is most certainly not a run of the mill medical professional.
