THERE MIGHT ALSO BE SOME PRESSGANGING,BUT I DON'T THINK THAT IS HAPPENING.
That is the penalty. The extremists make no distinction between deserting and leaving Islam altogether.
From the numbers going, each week, and those already there, I don't think press ganging is necessary. they allegedly already have more than they have weapons for as it is. Western governments are rightly worried about the numbers flocking to ISIS/ISIL I do not accept that anyone has radicalised them, just as I do not accept that they can be de-radicalised if and when they come back. No one has turned them they were radical to begin with.
As for welcoming them back as some want, that would be IMHO highly dangerous. Given the news over the last few months about the atrocities committed by these terrorists. They know exactly what they are going for. Given that is their mindset, any such programme trying to rehabilitate them would be fraught with danger.
Exactly so Badboy. They can see, and read about the excesses and atrocities committed by this crew of extremists. As you say, why would any reasonable person knowing this about them want to go and join them? It can only be that they are prepared to accept and probably commit such acts themselves, certainly the raping part.

I don't tink it will be easy to beat the Jihadists, they are not just in one Country and the US and Britain don't want to put troops in and end up with another Afghanistan.

Unfortunately that is only to be expected. As they gather fighting experience I would see that as the next logical step. There is already turmoil in the places you mention. Just as we send troops to "train" the local militias/police/army they are doing exactly the same. Only the motives differ. Ours are humanitarian, theirs most certainly are not.

You have to wonder when this is all going to end. One minute, government forces are steadily gaining ground. Then the rebels start to take it all back again. Whether it's Libya, Iraq, or Syria, it's the same scenario. Meanwhile both sides, although I suppose you could say 3 sides. Government forces, ISIS and then the rebels who themselves are split into several factions (each one totally correct of course) are simply piling debris on top of rubble, and forcing more innocent, and bewildered people to flee to a life (of sorts) in a refugee camp.
At least I suppose we know what they are fighting for in Syria. they want rid of Assad. OK but what about Iraq? Even without ISIS there was no peace, what were they fighting about then? Who should have been Caliph1,500 years a go? A bit moot now, surely. All their faction fighting has done is to allow ISIS to make easy gains, so that Abu Bakr al Baghdadi al Quraishi, or whatever he calls himself this week can declare himself to be the modern one. Or Libya. Further proof, as if any were needed that Islamic countries need a strong resolute leader.
Iraq. We got rid of Saddam Hussein, and look what happened, even before ISIS
Libya. We helped them get rid of Muammar Gaddafi and now look.
Egypt. We helped (clandestinely) to get rid of Hosni Mubarak and they've been verging on anarchy ever since.
Afghanistan. The Taliban will be back in control within weeks of us finally pulling out. The money and lives have been wasted.

I think whole sorry mess, sums it up even more succinctly fuzeta. Our leaders who are allegedly more intelligent than the average voting "pleb" cannot seem to grasp that.
OK Saddam Hussein al Tikriti was not by any standards the nice man you would want to meet your sister. He had people imprisoned, and tortured. It is reliably reported he shot one of his advisors himself in a conference because the guy dared to disagree. He may have ordered the gassing of an entire village. I say may, because although there is no doubt such an atrocity took place, there is some doubt as to whether it was done on his orders. Through it all, he kept the peace. Many many more have died since he was ousted and to what end?
In the USA Bush needed a quick result after 9/11 and Blair simply lied to parliament as far as Saddam's military capabilities were. I believe Bush acted out of sincerity, but Blair has the blood of thousands on his well manicured hands.
Afghanistan with the Taliban in charge was no place for a woman, and not much better for a man. public whippings and stoning's in the street were commonplace. Even public shootings were not unknown so a coalition was cobbled together and we invaded Afghanistan. Over 2,000 coalition troops, and thousands of Afghani troops/police have died, and hundreds more maimed. More thousands of civilians killed or maimed, and a river of money poured into the place, to what end? The Taliban never went away, indeed they took their narrow philosophy into Pakistan, and destabilised the Pakistan government. More dangerous that anything before since they have nuclear capability. If ISIS ever get their hands on that.......... As it is they are resurgent now, and readying take over again.
Libya, with the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, anarchy followed almost immediately it seems with everyone and his brother claiming the presidency. Egypt is almost the same with the addition that killing Christians is now routine as well. In addition Mubarak signed an accord with Israel which worked to everyone's advantage. Now deposed. that accord has fallen away. leaving Hamas to terrorise their own population, as well as acts of terrorism against Israel something else our leaders seem unable to understand. The Israelis may not be snow white in other things but they are blameless against Hamas.
Democracy doesn't work, and cannot ever work alongside sharia.

I wouldn't be concerned about that my friend. Dewsbury doesn't surprise me in the least it has long been a hotbed of Islamic extremists. Even one of their MP's now ex MP Shahid Malik was an extremely vocal supporter of an Islamic Britain. (he still is) I remember a speech he made hoping his deity would allow a Muslim PM. Racist and extremist to a degree. It seems inevitable that in such a society, any and every opportunity would be taken to enhance the spread of Islam. If they see that sending people out to Syria or Iraq to fight with ISIS then that would be their immediate goal and apparently quite successful. My worry is not them going but coming back with knowledge of weaponry, and knowledge of attacking soft targets. Some of which, despite the best efforts of our magnificent security services are almost certain to get through.

I think it is a complete certainty that some members of the Turkish government will be in sympathy with the ISIS killers. Whether they are operating with clandestine government backing I don't know, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they were.
There will be those who would love to return to the good old corrupt days of the Ottoman Empire. Whether or not that is ISIS's plan is another story. It may suit them for a while in terms of giving them a lot more territory plus a large standing army if they reach agreement. I don't personally think a peaceful merger is possible because Turkey, while being a Muslim country. The average citizen is very relaxed about it. They are excitable very excitable as events in the not too distant past showed, but not normally centred about religion

According to ISIS in the last bulletin they forced Peter Cantlie to say Urban street fighting was something of a speciality of theirs. It was all over and they were mopping up one or two small pockets of resistance. Not enough of a speciality it seems.

Sorry Badboy I didnt make myself clear. Any merger would have to be with the permission in effect of that army. There are those who will agree with ISIS, and of course those who won't The situation is complicated by the Kurds. They are the only ones fighting these terrorists, and gaining experience of course. Becoming more effective, and battle hardened. The Kurds are also fighting for a Kurdish homeland, which is the very last thing Turkey wants to see. It could become a very confused and based on ISIS's actions so far a very bloody situation.

So it looks as if our leaders are, or may be starting to wake up to the extreme danger posed by these "things". Slowly we are being forced into a position where we have to put boots on the ground, to use a recently coined phrase. It can't just be us, it will have to be a coalition. A far greater operation than Afghanistan. ISIS must be cleared out root and branch, there must be no possibility of them gaining the strength they have now again.
