KERRY SAYS US WILL HAVE TO NEGOTIATE WITH SYRIA’S ASSAD
Kerry claims Assad must help destroy "common enemy"
(Reuters) - The United States will have to negotiate with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for a political transition in Syria and is exploring ways to pressure him into agreeing to talks, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told CBS News in an interview.
Washington has long insisted that Assad must be replaced through a negotiated, political transition, but the rise of a common enemy, hardline militant group Islamic State, appears to have slightly softened the West's stance towards him.
In the interview broadcast on Sunday, Kerry did not repeat the standard U.S. line that Assad had lost all legitimacy and had to go. Syria's civil war is now into its fifth year, with hundreds of thousands killed and millions of Syrians displaced.
"We have to negotiate in the end," Kerry said. "We've always been willing to negotiate in the context of the Geneva I process," he added, referring to a 2012 conference which called for a negotiated transition to end the conflict.
Kerry said the United States and other countries, which he did not name, were exploring ways to reignite the diplomatic process to end the conflict in Syria.

Hello Anna, it's a case of 'better the devil you know' The USA and the UK think that other nations want the same as we do and think the same as we do but they don't. I would have thought that we should have learned that lesson by now.

Good morning Badboy
Yes it seems the Syrian troops were unable to continue but that seems to be the pattern in that part of the world. with regular Syrian, and Iraqi troops unable to fight against these murderers, who at the start at least had few if any heavy weapons whereas Syria had the pick of the Russian arsenal to choose from, and the Iraqis had US weaponry. Obviously the difference can only be in the quality of the regular armies. It must be said though that now, it would seem that Iran is arming the rebel factions, at least the Shi'ite ones.
Of course reading the Syrian official side of it they are simply regrouping. The next few days will show how true that is.
Meanwhile, rebels continue to make advances in the Yemen despite a Saudi Spokesman claiming the air strikes have been 100% successful. It is very difficult to know who (if any of them) is telling the truth especially since it is fully permissible in Islam to alter the truth. in other words lie.

None of them have any compunction about using children to fight. the rationale behind it being that just as suicide bombers are destined for immediate paradise so to are children killed in war. At the very least these children are being raised with no regard for human life. What it all does seem to demonstrate is that the old Shi'ite-Sunni war is still going strong.
During the Iran-Iraq war, the Iranians sent legions of children into battle. They carried golden coloured keys which they were told were the keys to paradise. I understand those tactics were successful at least in part, from an unexpected source. The Iraqi troops couldn't bring themselves to kill children, and taking them prisoner removed resources for their war effort.
That this was in reprisal for an incident more than 30 years ago is very much part of the problem in that part of the world. Whatever you do you are stepping in 5,000 years of bad blood and tribal feuds.

Good morning Badboy, I have no doubt at all that they have sleeper cells in Damascus, and I dare say in most major cities throughout the world including ours. from the latest news of a group being arrested trying to join them it seems as if they are striking a chord at least in a good proportion of Islamists.
I'm not at all sure about sending these people back to their supposed countries. I say supposed because they obviously are not British in mind, whatever their place of birth and passport details. They are willing to at least connive at acts of terror, and all the other trappings of terror and brutality that exist in areas controlled by these excuses for humans.
That being the case, we are in danger of building up a fifth column, not only in Britain but everywhere they are allowed to go. Hiding in plain sight as it were. I sometimes think that if that is where they want to be let them go there.

Good evening old son.
The situation is as usual totally confused. No one knows who has gained control of what. One thing I think which is very important, and I apologise for it being off topic is that among these people stopped from crossing the Turkish border to join IS, one of them is the son of a Labour Politician. He is of course aghast and saddened beyond measure but surely that is an indication of a lack of integration.
Of course one must take the father's word for it, but just suppose they were using the system against us. Using democracy as far as it suits until such time as it is no longer needed. I am not in any way suggesting that is the case in this instance but it is a distinct possibility. In any case, whoever's scion he is doesn't alter the basic truth that even if it is only among a small fraction, integration has failed. Preventing them from joining up with IS and returning them to Britain (or elsewhere in Europe) is steadily building a fifth column. That phrase was first used by General Franco and was highly successful in the Spanish civil war. It may yet prove highly successful in this one. We are in a war It just hasn't been formally declared. The actions of al Shabaab proved that in Kenya only today. Those who harbour ill intentions towards us, are more than happy to use our very democracy against us. Until the rule of numbers makes that no longer necessary.
To continue claiming that all is well with the world is delusional in the extreme.

As you say, this could be very bad news for the Syrian economy. Assad's military capability could be drastically affected also since Nasib was used as a base to bomb the rebels. Of course to listen to them, the Syrian army wasn't beaten at all, they are simply regrouping. Still I imagine that Assad's forces must and will make every possible effort to regain control. He has to or hand al Nusra a massive propaganda victory.

Hate preacher Chowdrey has stated that by 2050 the UK will be all Muslim with sharia law implemented and no freedom off speech and all women shrouded in a hijab.
I quite often wonder how Chowdrey is still walking around and hasn't been taken out and my opinion is, he's well protected...could you imagine if he was 'got at'.....

This is a puzzle to me too kitti. We - in the name of political correctness, multiculturism, and integration - which are opposites anyway have been more and more curtailed in what we can and cannot say. Even humour is banned. Yet as you say the hate mongers such as Choudry openly denigrate us and our culture, call us "kuffar" which we would not be allowed to use, and generally take every opportunity to stir it up a bit more.
The sad thing is he is very probably right. In 35 years time, the population make up of the country will by then be a completely different picture. The only thing I can see to prevent that apart from a civil war which we may very well lose, is Iran's backing of some at least of the terror groups together with the Ayatollahs nuclear weapon programme.
I see the councillor father of one of these defectors trying to join IS says his son is a good Muslim and his loyalties are to Britain. His loyalties are very obviously not to Britain. Still at my age now, the place will see me out. I worry for my grandchildren though especially the three girls. We all know their place in extremist Islam.

Yes that would be about right. looting/killing and sex being their overriding concerns. It doesn't seem to occur to them, that a stable economy would be the very bedrock of this caliphate they claim they want. Stable economies are not gained by looting everything in sight. Then these extremists are not noted for their intelligence. They have already alienated Jordan and all civilise people by their actions.
