GOVERNMENT FORCES BOMBARDING CAMP.
Situation normal then Badboy even when the official fighting stops they have to look for more victims to kill. The word summary worries me a little, it sounds as if this wave of killings is without any rational basis, or after any sort of trial or even an enquiry. Still that is what we have come to expect from these extremists, and some at least Salafists.
One thing that sticks out in this major threat to civilisation, is the claim that Islam is a homogenous religion, and they all sing from the same hymn sheet. That may be true for the mainstream Muslims who just want to get on with their lives but among the extremist elements they have more sects and sub sects than the Christians do.

Good evening old son.
It is as you imply looking more dangerous by the day. Recruits coming from all over. it seems even from South Africa which I admit surprises me I know there used to be at least a strong Muslim presence in the extension 16 areas in the cape. Then, they were among some of the friendliest folk in the world.
It does seem as if our western leaders have underestimated the numbers of extremists among the general population. This is no help of course to the 18,000 or so innocent men, women, and children, trapped between these fundamentalists who would as lief rather fight each other than Assad's forces. It does give the UN a huge headache. They cannot just leave these innocent people to their fate, that is unthinkable. The alternative is to ask these killers who only a fortnight ago, they were branding as war criminals if they will stop fighting so that emergency aid can be taken to the thousands who are starving and in need of medical attention.
Whether or not these rival groups agree or not to stop fighting temporarily, it hands them a propaganda victory. It recognises them, gives them a certain authority, and by implication that gives them a certain amount of legitimacy. Of course with so many different groups of terrorists, and government forces only one has to say no, and the others will keep on with the killing, while blaming everyone else for the breakdown in truce.
Yarmouk is only 5 miles from city centre, but then as you know they have been fighting within it's confines for some years. The latest upsurge in violence and savagery was when IS decided to force their own way in. on April 1st I believe.

Good evening Badboy
It's looking more and more like one of those fiendish Chinese puzzles. What the various factions of murdering sadists are after is getting beyond comprehension. There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind these random attempts at grabbing territory. It doesn't consolidate anything. The Arab world is already in an uproar so destabilisation is already achieved with Boko Haram, al Nusra, al Queda, al Shabaab, the free Syrian army, the various dissident groups all able to get their hands on enough weaponry to carry on towards whatever goal they have. about the only one left is the coming of the "end of days" which they all seem determined to bring about.
Meanwhile they prove how indifferent they are to the suffering of their own people by withholding/using for their own benefit, stocks of food and medication. How they can believe in a deity that glories in this, or gets pleasure out of the suffering of his own chosen people is in itself a miracle?
If there was any such deity no civilised person would want anything to do with such a being. can they not see that for themselves?

That would indeed upset the applecart.
Having set Raqqah up as their de facto capital they cannot do other than defend it to the limit. If Government forces manage to retake the airport, and the city itself, then despite all the rhetoric about regrouping to deploy more effectively elsewhere etc. etc. It would be a massive propaganda victory for the government, and a massive set back for ISIS.

I don't immediately see how the issue of ID cards will be a morale booster, unless it's to show them that they are well on the way to becoming a recognised state. They do seem, as the Pentagon has said to have gained ground in Syria over the last few days especially in respect of Yarmouk camp, although the evening news said they have withdrawn largely from that enclave. I'm sure the doughty fighters of ISIS can brave the barrel bombs if the civilians can - although they don't have much of a choice.
Their numbers do seem to be swelling, despite Britain as usual pussy footing round it. It certainly seems to answer the claim that these extremists are few and far between.
If they do float their own currency which again is a logical step towards sovereign state recognition, it will be interesting to note the value the international markets lace on it. They will always be able to sell their oil and gas naturally those commodities in this day and age have no loyalties.

Good evening old son
A snippet yesterday from the results of a survey apparently showed over 10% of Turkish citizens actively or passively supporting IS. If that was translated into fighters it could mean an army of almost a million. Of course it will not come to anything like that. Women would be included, and anyway many men would be of the passive variety. still the figures are frightening. It does seem to show that far more that previously thought are supporters of this crew of murderers.
It is almost impossible from where you and I sit to decipher what is really going on given the "florid Rhetoric" of all sides. The Kurds are also fighting for themselves in a way in that they now de facto have a homeland, and are determined to hang on to it and expand it as necessary. I honestly do not see them as a threat - to us at least. More along the Israeli lines. who at least are trying to accommodate Hamas, and Hezbollah, who of course they will be satisfied with nothing less than the total eradication of Israel. not even destruction. I can see WW 3 coming from there.
I keep coming back to Taqiyya. The ruling where any and all Muslims are not only allowed but encouraged to deceive the infidel to advance the cause of Islam. In this context I am only counting the extremists, not the average normal Muslim, who nevertheless if push comes to shove would be forced, as we would be to accept the situation as it is, an not necessarily as s/he would like it to be.
It will be a few days yet before the new fluid goalposts become apparent, and we know what they are planning next. One thing for sure is that they seem to be getting a great deal of support from extremists around the world.

If that is true, it is some of the best news yet to come out of that unhappy war torn land in the last 3 years. I have a feeling though that it will not be the last we'll hear of them in Yarmouk. al Nusra have pledged their support to ISIS so vicariously at least they are still there.

I can't really understand why they don't concentrate their forces and start to consolidate, but I assume there is a reason for this step. Watched a documentary last night about ISIS. They agreed with something you and I agreed on a while back. The atrocities and barbarism are a deliberate part of their "strategy" Anyone fighting them, or even mildly disagreeing with them knows what will happen if they are captured. More especially if they are the wrong sect. So it isn't too surprising that they have been so successful against government forces.
They also said that many of their officers are/were officers in Saddam Hussein's armed forces. Again a highly experienced cadre, ready made.
They also outlined that the are outlets for their oil with many private distilleries producing a barrel at a time, and looted artifacts. The ones they can't carry away they destroy. Together with straightforward robbery, and kidnapping for ransom the programme reckons ISIS have a war chest in the region of $3 billion.
All told, I believe when Theresa May said it would take decades to beat them, she was being optimistic.
Another point that was made was that, as twisted as their interpretations of the Qur'an and the Hadiths are it is religious fanaticism that drives them. the claim was on the programme that foreigners who go to fight are fed and housed but not paid in money.

An important crossroad however you describe it. As you say it cuts off Latakia, and the coastal areas, from which a lot of government supplies come, and also controls the approaches to Aleppo, and isn't too far from the Turkish border which as you will have already realised will make people coming out of Turkey to join them easier. You identify them as the al Nusra brigade. They have pledged allegiance to ISIS, so to all intents and purpose they are the same group.
They interviewed one of the extremist clerics on this documentary. He was saying that there will absolutely be reprisals in Britain and Europe for our involvement however minimal in their affairs (the terrorists). "What else do you expect" he said.
I expect refugees, whether looking to start a new life or fleeing from terror to adhere to the doings of the government of the day in that country. Especially the governments foreign policy. I emigrated to S. Africa. There were several things about the place I didn't like. I didn't "cherry pick" though, the rules I would obey, and the rules I wouldn't. That sort of behaviour leads only to anarchy, and anyway would have got me deported.
This cleric and his ilk should be the same, either be prepared to accept the rules of the country, and at the next opportunity vote the government out, that is democracy, or find another country more suited to their way of life (and death)

The destruction of Israel is always a top priority even among the so called moderate states based on the claim that any land once ruled over by Muslims remains Muslim forever. It's the same argument the extremists are using in Spain. Conveniently forgetting the rights of whoever the forces of Islam took it from in the first place.
There have been sporadic clashes on the Israeli borders from the very beginning especially at the Golan Heights. The firing of rockets into Israel being comparatively new. Having said that these ISIS or ISIL terrorists and the other terror groups aligning themselves with them I believe poses the greatest threat to Israel's continued existence. They seem to be getting stronger almost by the day and with the present rift between Obama and Netanyahu who knows what might happen.
As you say, like a hydra headed monster, IS seem to be getting everywhere.
