I suppose if he argues that they where unable to pursue investigations due to political interference, then the kidnapping charge might still be a possibility. But in light of the dogs and forensics, its not a particularly helpful comment !

The text messages sent by Kate and Gerry were never admitted as evidence gathered as part of the investigation.
