Thursday 18 February
Well, tomorrow's the day. Fingers crossed that the decision goes the right way. I know that GA doesn't speak English but if anyone reads this forum and tells him what is posted - GOOD LUCK. OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU. MAY JUSTICE FOR FREE SPEECH PREVAIL.

Re: Court twitters today 18/02
Kate and Gerry #McCann will issue statement tomorrow, then hold news conference Friday to respond to result of libel case, I'm told.

Well after seeing this, I wonder if they already know the outcome, and would they be giving news conference if it was bad....................
ETA Good luck to Mr Amaral for tomorrow - I am praying................

Well we know what's going to happen if the decision doesn't go his way. Appeals and the European court etc. But what if the appeal does go his way. That doesn't mean he can publish the book in English in the UK does it. So I don't think it's as significant as we previously thought. This might be wrong of course. But if the ban is lifted it will be a kind of moral victory.

I know, when the case was shelved they gave a press conference within hours. As much as l'd like Amaral to win l think those barstewards are going to, perhaps the judge does not want to jeopardise a potential re-opening of the case and will keep the book inuncted for the time being, the McScams love to spin so it will be that they have 'won'??

If there is any justice that book will be able to sit on a shelf and be read by whomever believes in free speech.
Good luck Amaral.

Why cant the mccanns stay out of the Media Glare, they do not do themselves any favours how they come across. I cannot stand to see Gerry taking over the media. And also being allowed to do so!!! and butting in at every turn!!!!! And Kates comments are usually inaudable! anyway most of the time!

Let's hope the shit does hit the fan tomorrow.
However, I am cautions in celebrating a legal victory.
Whatever happens, it is not the end, the MCCANNS haven't paid the piper yet.

But there eventually was an English publisher wasn't there? Wasn't that the initial reason for banning the book. When the story stayed in Portugal it wasn't that dangerous. The British media didn't picked up on the stories from Portugal. But with the book published in the UK and the documentary broadcasted, it would have been dangerous for them wouldn't it? I think they would have avoid this media attention if they could. Must be a reason for it.

Re: Court twitters today 18/02
Why do they have to hold a news conference? Why do they think they are so newsworthy all the time. No doubt Clarence Mitchell will surface if the book is banned giving inaccurate information like they McCanns have been cleared of any wrongdoing in a court of law etc. God I hope it doesn't happen but they are so predictable, to hold a news conference means they already know the outcome.

I think they might issue a statement tomorrow after they learn the result, but you can bet your bottom dollar they will not hold a news conference if the decision goes against them...
And I believe it will!

Re: Court twitters today 18/02
I agreee Judge, - no big 'win', no press conference imho.
It'll be like that time they were going to give evidence at the hearing as long as GA did.... only for Gerry's work commitments, (i.e. the one's that were pre-arranged and he couldn't get out of), to interfere with that little alleged plan. (The only other possible option I suppose is a press conference with no questions allowed, Clarenzio playing bouncer and lots of 'there is no evidence...... vile people of Portugal... etc'.)
And if they win I'm turning the tele off for at least a week!
