buildersbum I guess we have to remember that we only have a smattering of facts - and they are the ones which have been selectively put out. The police may have different, devious motives for their actions.
Which also brings to mind Colin Stagg, poor bloke. An oddball who was pounced on, and became obsessed with, due to that misguided criminal profiler.

You may well be right Famous Grouse. Hopefully there is real reson to suspect people who are arrested - rather than a ridiculous hair cut. However, I'm really wondering just how helpful the whole rolling news thing is.
Not saying this is what the police are doing in this case but......
I remember a few years ago a case where the Police set up an arrest of an innocent guy, to make the culprit feel secure, the police then waited for the culprit to make his next move knowing he would......it worked!!!! im going to spend the rest of the day trying to remember when this case was.
Really? Under UK law if the poice actually did this, with knowledge that the individual they arrested was innocent, then the consequence would be charges of false arrest, false imprisonment and the end of the senior officers career.
Even if the 'innocent' guy had gone along with it?
Not saying he did - just curious.

True. But surely he would have known that the police immediately question everybody close to the victim? How on earth would he have thought he'd have gotton away with it? He doesn't look the type to hold out for long under police interrogation.[/
Oh I think this man is very intelligent, look how he dealt with the media outside his flat, he was very good at spinning words and wasn't even getting payed to do so!

But if it really is the landlord, and I am not saying it is, are there other victims? It seems a bit reckless to do away with your own downstairs neighbour, then not try to do a runner.
If he suddenly did a runner that surely would have pointed the finger firmly in his direction.

If you go onto Google street view and look at Canynge Road in Clifton, Bristol, for the landlord to arrive home and see anyone is very convenient I suppose as it is one of those big posh roads where you rarely see anyone! However, I imagine this is just another case of the police picking on the local eccentrics again.

What a ridiculous amount of speculation on this thread. I hope the mods do something about it.
Still, if they have suspect and they brought him in for questioning, all is good. Thoughts are with Jo's family at this time.
By the way, I have a side parting, shoulder length and brunette, last time I coloured it

He didn't sound meek or feeble when he spoke to the Sky reporter, kitti. He spoke in a strong, well educated, authoritative voice, and remained very much in control of things. He also didn't look at all camp or gay to me. If anything I would describe him as looking and sounding very much like a college professor.

Isn't it funny how we all see different things? I thought he looked totally gay. He seemed well educated and handled the media well enough, in fact if i were the Mccanns I'd get rid of Clarrie and hire him instead!

Strangulation generally is a male thing. I am not saying a woman can't strangle. Of course they can, but I still have to find one case where the author of a murder by strangulation, is a woman. At least here in this corner of the world.

I thought from the start it would be someone from the flats. As soon as we knew her phone etc were left there, it looked like someone from 'inside'.
I also think the cops either have had dealings with this guy before or suspected him early on. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the Mark Stone (Sky reporter) wasn't asked by the cops to question him, to gauge what he said.

I am not at all sure about the Landlord - we can only rely on what the Police actually say or do. When I used to rent flats - the Landlord always had keys - in fact, I was waiting to go to an appointment and the Landlady actually entered the flat to check the electric meter. She was more shocked than me because she assumed I had already gone to work!

I think you were watching a totally different interview. His mannerisms and style were totally consistent with being gay and eccentric. His accent and tone was very much consistent. The words used in connection with him by people that know him such as 'flamboyant' and 'bachelor' add to that. Which is why I would question the sexual motive.

I'd define a posh road as having multiple big detached houses from the Edwardian or Victorian era with many big rooms which due to modern living have often been split into multiple flats due to the space that is afforded within them! Go on street view and have a look at the road! It's very nice. I'd happily live there, I imagine the house prices might take a tumbling now but I still wouldn't be able to afford it :)

I am not saying he isn't gay.... I'm merely saying that I saw more of an eccentric type college professor than a gay man. That doesn't mean I am certain he isn't gay - because he may well be - or even bi-sexual for that matter!

Under the law of the country I live, she would have comitted the crime of invasion of private property. And this is because Law here states (and very correctly) just the fact you are the owner of a house you rent, doesn't give you the right to go to that same house after rented and with someone else living there. It's considered invasion of privacy and property. Landlords just receive the rent, as stated on the signed contracts. If someone doesn't want to abide by the rules they simply do not rent the houses they have, period. If I had houses to rent and if I was renting them, with what right I'd enter a house just to check the electric meter, the water meter, gas, etc? That's why everybody (correctly) changes locks on a rented house. If landlord/landlady wants to see the house, he/she has to contact previously the person(s) with whom they signed the contract and if the person who rented the house doesn't want to open the door to the landlord/landlady it's a right they have by law.
