Re: what the mcanns have broken up???
I'm not so sure, Kate is an only child and maybe she was determined that she would bring more than one child into the World to have a proper family , also, I think the photographs taken with the children were genuine . I know I am going to be shouted down , yes I agree they did not socialise much except at dinner with the Tapas 7 , yes I agree they never monitored the children often enough and it was unforgivable to still go out that night when Madeleine told Kate she had been crying . They have to live with this for the rest of their lives which is why they come down on anyone who points the finger at them. For all their bravado and money grabbing, it is all designed not to have to search their souls so to speak. We can sleep nights, can they???fuzeta wrote:Yes that is exactly what I mean wjk, thank you.wjk wrote:I know what you mean, fuzeta.fuzeta wrote:Some people just have children because it's another acquisition, the next thing on the agenda.. In some cases it is not always because they love children that they have them. If you know what I am trying to say
Got the house, got the job, whats next...oh yes, kids!
Panda even if they had fertility treatment to get them. I still think this stands the same.

Hello Snowflake I am old fashioned myself and agree that there is nothing wrong with that. I agree it is the right way round and I am sure most people think the same but maybe that was not the point I was trying to make.snowflake wrote:Call me old fashioned but it is the best way.
Have a job, earning money, have a home and then have children ?
And even more old fashioned.................be married, make a commitment to each other and then have children?
Nowt wrong with that.

Re: what the mcanns have broken up???
I know when I was young (back in the stone age!) that it was expected that married couples would have children and those who chose not to have any were regarded with suspicion. I don't think that there is such social pressure these days but maybe some people still have children without really wanting them, to shut up eager grandparents!
Whether that's the case with you-know-who, none of us can say, but speaking generally, bringing up children doesn't suit everyone and people can regret bowing to pressure to please others.

Re: what the mcanns have broken up???
I don't think it had anything to do with pleasing anyone except themselves, Kate even went to live and work in New Zealand , had a career so I don't think she would have been influenced by anybody. Both are strong characters and to have IVF treatment shows a need to start a Family. anyway, it's all academic now, I don't think Madeleine will be found, dead or alive and this Trial is endgame whichever way it goes. Not Born Yesterday wrote:I know when I was young (back in the stone age!) that it was expected that married couples would have children and those who chose not to have any were regarded with suspicion. I'm old fashioned too. In a way, at least. That's why I think Gerry and Kate McCann don't deserve the three blessings they were given and that their parenting choices make mesnowflake wrote:Call me old fashioned but it is the best way.

How interesting, Snowflake. You have not once mentioned "make a commitment to care properly for their children".snowflake wrote:Call me old fashioned but it is the best way.

Me neither.chrissie1 wrote:I cannot understand the need to start a second round of ivf when Maddie was so young
I know a couple of couples, one are man and wife and the other couple I know are two women, and both have had IVF and both have one child and both are concentrating on the beautiful but demanding job of bringing up their one child before even beginning to consider whether or not to try again for a second. In fact, one couple even commented to me that they were relieved not to have twins first time around in the circumstances and it was the thought of twins being a strong possibility with a second pregnancy that was making them think long and hard about whether to try again. Age is a factor too, I know, but both couples just wanted to enjoy their life with their new child without the pressure of further pregnancy.
My own view is that its a shame to be raising a very young baby and, at the same time, trying to get pregnant again, especially via IVF. It takes precious time away from the baby and being pregnant whilst raising another who is so young must be difficult, what with morning sickness and tiredness and becoming more and more inactive as the bump grows. Carrying twins would be all of this and more.
Just my opinion I know, but we all do what suits us I suppose. It just wouldn't have suited me, no way!

Re: what the mcanns have broken up???
And some women desperately want children just to feel wanted and needed!
I hope Kate did not come into that category, because to have children just to satisfy these feelings for yourself is not fair. The children want and need their mother too and its about their feelings at the end of the day.

She wasn't looking after them anyway, was she.
When in amsterdam she had a nanny looking after Madeleine.
